RAIN WATER HARVESTING CALCULATION

22

The Design calculations for storm water drainage and rain water harvesting pit are as follows:

DESIGN BASIS FOR STORM WATER DRAINAGE SYSTEM:

RUN OFF DISCHARGE

Q = ( CIA)10-3

S. No. ParticularsCatchment Area in m2

(A)Runoff Coefficient

(C)Rainfall Intensity in mm

(I)Discharge

(m3/hr)

1. Rooftop area 12255.97 0.85 45 468.79

2. Green area 22814.33 0.20 45 205.33

3. Paved area 34869.39 0.65 45 1019.93

Total Runoff 69939.69 1694.05

Page 23: Environmental Impact Assessment( EIA)

23

Taking 15 minutes retention time, total volume of storm water = 1370.13 × 0.25 =

423.51 m3

Taking the effective diameter and depth of a Recharge pit 3.0 m and 3.4 m respectively,

Volume of a single Recharge pit (πr2h) = 3.14 × 1.5 × 1.5 × 3.4 =

24.02 m3

Hence No. of pits required = 423.51/24.02= 17.6 Say

18 Pits

Total 18 no. of Rain Water Harvesting pits are being proposed for artificial rain water

recharge within the project premises.

PARKING CALCULATION

25

VEHICLE PARKING FACILITIESRequired Parking:

Required parking for main unit @ 1.5 ECS/DU = 724 × 1.5 =1086 ECSRequired parking for EWS @ 5% of total required parking = 1086 × 5 % = 54.3 say 55 ECSRequired parking for Visitors @ 20% of total required parking = 1141 × 20 % = 228.2 say 228 ECSTotal required parking = 1086 + 55 + 228 = 1369 ECS Proposed Parking:

Area proposed for parking on surface = 1933.642 m2

Area required for parking per ECS = 25 m2

Proposed surface parking = 1933.642/25 = 77.3 ECS Say 77 ECS

Area of Basement-1 = 37374.81 m2

Area proposed for parking in Basement-1 = 29172.429 m2

Parking Capacity of Basement-1 = 29172.429/35 m2 = 833 ECSProposed parking in basement-1 = 683 ECS Area of Basement-2 = 36521.42 m2

Area proposed for parking in Basement-2 = 28559.737 m2

Parking Capacity of Basement-2 = 28559.737/35 m2 = 816 ECSProposed parking in basement-2 = 674 ECS Total Proposed Parking =77 + 683 + 674 = 1434 ECS

Hence, adequate space for 1434 ECS will be provided within the project premises.
