ENDANGERED ANIMALS
8
PRELIMINARY PLANS
9
No overlap of the 10 m riparian buffer zone
0,27 ha wetland lost (+/- 0,1 ha for the avenue)
AVOID → MINIMIZE → COMPENSATE
• Overlap of the 10m stream riparian buffer zone avoided by shifting the avenue inside the cadastral limits
• Unable to avoid wetland, minimization of perturbation by ensuring residual wetlands will continue to receive sufficient water
• Loss of wetlands requires compensation replacements
PROJECT ANALYSIS
10
Possibilities are :
• Land conservation
• Re-naturalization of disturbed habitat
Best option is partial acquisition of McGill land
• For acceptation by MDDELCC, need to prove that proposed conservation is an environmental gain
COMPENSATION
11
Compensation concept proposed
COMPENSATION
12
20 m buffer = 0, 38 ha
1,1 ha block (1,5 ha with bottom)
