Wondershare QuizCreator provides users with two options of adding different question types to a quiz.

1. Create questions one by one in QuizCreator 2. Import questions from an external source: An existing Excel document

Using the import Excel feature is a quick solution to creating questions and saving you time. How does one do that?QuizCreator includes an Excel template file named template.xls to help users create a formatted document that can be imported into the program. Browse to the directory of your program (for example: C:\Program Files\Wondershare\QuizCreator\help) and find the template.xls for your reference.

1. Start Mark and End Mark

The start mark and end mark are indicators for Excel to communicate with QuizCreator and therefore are unchangeable. You need to retain these two cells at the beginning and the end of the worksheet.

2. Question ID & Question Number

Every question type has a unique question ID assigned to in the Excel template. When imported to QuizCreator, the ID will tell it which question type it falls into. This is a mandatory field of a question created in Excel.ID Question Type90001 True/False 90002 Multiple Choice (single answer) 90003 Multiple Choice (multiple answers)

90004 Fill in Blanks 90005 Matching 90006 Sequence90007 EssayEvery question created in Excel must have a question number to go with it. All question numbers must be in consecutive order, otherwise, they can not be imported into QuizCreator.

The cell next to the Start Mark is the quiz title.

4. Create a question

When creating questions in the Excel document, there are three required items and one optional item which need to be entered. Required Items:

QuizCreator has a unique feature which allows quiz designers to insert a static image or animated Flash into a question. In Excel, this feature is also available. By putting the full file path of the image or Flash in the Image Path field, you can add an image to a specific question.

e.g.: If an image file named image.jpg in the MyPicture folder of drive C is to be insert into a question, you will need to input the full filename path into the Image Path cell.

Note：

You will not be able to create a click map question using the Excel template as this format is not yet supported.

5. Add Answers

True/False Questions

For True/False questions, insert TRUE and FALSE as the possible answers and indicate the correct answer by putting Y in the same row.

Multiple Choice (single answer)

For multiple choice (single answer) questions the maximum number of possible answers is 8. Indicate the correct answer by putting Y in the same row.

Multiple Choice (multiple answers)

For multiple choice (multiple answers) questions, the maximum number of possible answers is 8.Indicate the correct answers by putting Y in the same rows.

Fill in Blanks

To add answers to a Fill in the Blanks question, you may add up to 8 answer items and leave the correct answer area blank.

Matching

For Matching questions, you may add up to 8 answer items in the left column and put the corresponding matches in the right column.

Sequence

With a Sequence question, you can put the answer items in random order in the left column and in the correct order in the right column. The maximum number of answer items is 8.

Short Essay

For Short Essay questions, you can either insert a model answer for reference here or just leave it blank.

Option 1.  Record Narration for Questions

First, it is important to set the Volume Control properties. 1. Double click the volume icon on the taskbar (it should appear as a "speaker" in the lower right hand corner of your screen),2.  When the volume control dialogue box appears, click "options", "properties", and select the "recording", enable "line in" and "microphone", then click OK.

If you are using a microphone to record, please select the checkbox next to "Microphone" on the recording control dialogue box and adjust the volume slider to maximum.3. Close the Recording Control dialogue box.

Second, record narration in QuizCreator. 1. Create a new question or open an existing question 2. Click the Record Icon to add your voice over to the question.

If you already have sound files on your computer, you can import these directly into the appropriate question in QuizCreator. Within a matter of minutes, you will have created a wonderful quiz, with sounds, music and more.

Step2. Shuffle Questions and Answers

By checking “Randomize questions”, the order of questions in the quiz is at random and is different from the original order of questions added to the question bank.

For example, you add question in order Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, ... They are possibly shown when publishedQ4, Q2, Q5, Q4, Q1...

The feature of “Randomize answers” is easy to understand. Answers of a question will appear randomly.

Step3. Randomize Quiz

When you randomize a quiz, you truly randomize everything in it. Of course, you will need to randomize the questions and answers first, then you can randomize your quiz. If you have added more questions than you require to be used in the same quiz, you will need to specify the number of questions to be used.

You have now created a question bank and you will be able to create a variety of quizzes with different questions.Each time you publish a quiz from the question bank, you will create a new quiz. Each time you run same quiz in a web browser, the order is also randomized.

1. Add images to Intro Page of quizzes In QuizCreator, adding images is just a click away. You can add images to either or both the intro page of the quiz or the questions within the quiz.

To add images to the intro page of your quiz, go to

On the Info Pane, you will see the Quiz Image Section. Click the + button to import an image from your computer to add to the quiz intro page. Supported image format includes: .jpg, .jpeg, . bmp, .emf, .wmf, .gif.

2. Add images to quiz questions and answers

To add images to questions within a quiz, go to the Add question Pane. If you have already created a question, just click the question to edit it and add an image.

On the Add Question window, you can click the Image -> Question to add images for the questions. Here

you click the + button to browse your local image folder on your computer and choose the image to be added. Supported image format includes: .jpg, . bmp, .emf, .wmf, .gif

In addition, you can also add a text description and hyperlink for the inserted image thereby providing further information for the quiz takers or your students.

To add images to answers within a quiz, just make cursor focused on the exact answer filed you'd like to add, and go to Image -> Answer in the right pane. Then click the + button to browse images from your local disks and add images. Supported image format includes: .jpg, .bmp, .emf, .wmf

If you are designing a quiz for your company and are thinking about adding your company skin or logo, this feature should prove to be useful and you can create a corporate look for your quiz.

How to Add Math Symbols in QuizThe following two sections will guide you through using the equation editor to create equations in questions.

The process of adding equations is similar to typing into the question field. Equations can also be added to the answer choices. A quick way to access the equation editor, if you want to incorporate equations into a question, is to click on an answer choice field in a question and then select Edit (See Fig). When the equation editor opens, you can begin creating the equation. Generally, the equation editor comprises two components: the equation pad and the menu.

Enter Text & Symbol

 

When you click on the blank area in the equation pad, you can enter text at various insertion points as required.

If you want to type a math symbol, place your mouse cursor into an equation box ( ), choose a symbol type on the menu and then select the symbol you require. To accomplish this process by using the keyboard, use the left and right cursor keys to move the cursor and the down and up keys to select the desired equation box and enter your symbol.

 

Enter Template

 

You will find a variety of equations available to select from the symbol palette. Once you have inserted an equation template, you will need to check the equation box in this template where the cursor is flashing and then proceed to enter the information (Symbol, text and new template, etc) that should be entered into those locations. Can I create a quiz set to take multiple quizzes at one time?

Quiz Bank QuizCreator provides you with the facility to not only create a question bank but also a quiz bank. You can use quiz manager to help you organize and manage the quizzes within the quiz bank.

So what is a quiz manager? In QuizCreator, users can create a quiz bank from pre-built quizzes. In this way, you can have one quiz which contains many different quizzes each with different subjects.

Or, you could also create a quiz bank with quizzes at different levels so that you could measure the quiz takers learning progress. In the quiz player, the quiz bank will be presented to the quiz taker as a drop down menu so that the quiz taker can select a quiz from the quiz bank and manage each of the quizzes.

With quiz access control you can protect your quiz! In QuizCreator, quizmasters can set up different access levels. The two basic levels of access are password access and preset user account & password access. For advanced access control, you can set up a smart web authentication system by building a user list. In addition, you can also restrict access by limiting your domain name for hosting your quiz.

Go toQuizCreator -> Quiz Properties -> Access

Access with Password Only:

Create a password for you quiz.  Only users who have been provided with this password can log into your quiz.

Access with user accounts and password:

Create preset user accounts, including user ID and password. Only quiz takers with the specified ID and password on the list can have access to your quiz. Your quiz is therefore protected from unregistered users. Click the Enter key or Add User button to add more accounts.

Web Authentication

This feature does require some Admin work, however, we do provide a sample file with source codes for users to build up their own web authentication system. When users log into your quiz, the account info will be checked by the authentication file on the web. Once authenticated, the quiz will be become accessible.

Quiz Hosting Restriction

If you check the option to “Take quiz only from the following domain”, the quiz is executable only from the specified website. If anyone downloads or obtains your quiz, it will become unusable. 1. Run PPT2Flash Professional as a PowerPoint plug-in. 2. Create a new presentation or open an existing presentation.3. Specify a slide for inserting the quiz file with a .qcp extension. Click "OK".

What is a .qcp file?

The word “qcp” stands for QuizCreator Project. This is the file generated by QuizCreator when users publish a quiz to PPT2Flash.

- Width and Height

You can specify the size of the Flash quiz by changing the width and height parameters. In this example, the size is 600*500 pixels. Change these values to the size you require.

- Src/Value

Here you specify the address of the quiz on web. A relative address is also acceptable. You can see in the example that we have used the relative address "song.swf" for the quiz webpage and that the .swf quiz file

is in the same folder as our webpage. If you put the quiz web page and the .swf file in different folders, for example, the quiz web page in folder Test 1 and the .swf file in Test2, then the address should be /Test2/song.swf.

Step 4. Upload the files to the web space

You need to upload three files to the web, including the *.swf and *.xml created by QuizCreator and the *.html page created by you. The XML and HTML must be in the same directory, while the directory for the SWF is flexible (absolute address/relative address).

1. HTML webpage This is the webpage to be used on the website and to host the quiz, meaning, containing the flash file with the SWF extension.2. SWF file

This is file containing the quiz content.3. XML

This is the file required to perform the quiz reporting feature amongst other things and also contains information about the quiz and questions.Once these steps have been completed, you may open the webpage to view the quiz.

2. Add QuizCreator quizzes to a blog

A blog post is similar to a webpage. Therefore, you can insert a quiz with SWF extension to your blog in the same way as you insert Flash into a webpage. You use the same tags, as in the above example, to insert a Flash quiz by QuizCreator. By following the instructions above, you will be able to add the flash quiz to your blog. As before, you need to put the *.xml in the same directory of the blog files. If you are inserting a quiz into an external blog, do not forget to use the absolute address of the Flash quiz file.song.swf (relative address)

3. Add QuizCreator quizzes to a forum

The method of inserting a flash quiz into a forum is exactly the same as inserting it into a blog. However, not all forums support the feature of inserting a Flash file. You can only insert a QuizCreator quiz on forums which support such a feature.

The e-mail reporting feature in QuizCreator allows quiz designers to send quiz reports to specified contacts and quiz takers via e-mail.

When a quiz report created by QuizCreator is sent to a contact via email, he or she can see it in the inbox.

Part I . Send quiz reports to specified contacts (manually /automatically)

When you design a quiz, you can assign the email addresses of teachers or other contacts to receive the quiz reports.

1. Send quiz reports automatically

Enter the e-mail address in the e-mail field and then choose Send Automatically. You may enter more then one e-mail address and separate them with a comma such as “sales@wondershare.com, support@wondershare.com". When the quiz taker finishes the quiz and submits his/her final answers by clicking the submit button, the report is generated and sent to the e-mail address(es) which you have specified.

Note:

If you selected the send by e-mail automatically option, even if you enabled the e-mail icon within the player template, it will not be displayed.

2. Send quiz reports manually

In the e-mail field enter the e-mail address to which you want to send the report, then choose Send

Manually. When the quiz is being taken, an E-mail icon will be displayed on the result page.

When you click the e-mail button, the quiz player will generate a quiz report and send it via e-mail using a program created on our official site. If you have not specified an e-mail address, when the quiz taker clicks the e-mail icon on the quiz player, the program will create a new mail with the quiz report as the content of that mail using the default e-mail software on each quiz taker's computer, and the quiz taker can manually enter an e-mail address to send the report.

Post URL:

This URL is the location of the php page used to send the test report e-mail. The default URL is the php in our official site. If you want to use another site's service you may change it accordingly.

Part II. Send quiz reports to quiz takers automatically

If you check "send test results to quiz taker's e-mail box" the quiz report will be sent to the quiz taker's e-mail box automatically. In this way, they can view their responses and correct answers by means of a report in their e-mail inboxes.
