GENERAL DESCRIPTION The meaning of Episcopal is based on or recognizing a

governing order of bishops: an Episcopal hierarchy. The major belief is the life and resurrection of Jesus

Christ. Many beliefs are as followed: Jesus provides the way of eternal life for those who believe; God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit, are one God, and are called the Holy Trinity.

The Holy Book is called the Book of Common Prayer; in which it contains most of the worship services.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION CONT. To the left is a picture of the Holy Book known as the Book of Common Prayer.

Religious Practices: They do not practice celibacy. They also practice baptizing infants when they are born, in which they believe the infant should be baptized before they die as an infant. They use water, bread, and wine because Lord gave this to His followers.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION CONT. • Holidays are

Easter and Christmas. Ash Wednesday, Lent, Pentecost, various Saints days, and specific days of holy obligation.

• The majority of Episcopal religion is found in the United States of the America.

BELIEFS DURING TIME OF BIRTH Whenever an infant is born, they

baptize the infant. They use baptism on their infants as

they are born by sprinkling water on their head, or pouring it on their.

They teach them about the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

BELIEFS DURING TIME OF DEATH They believe on going to Heaven to be

with God and the lord Jesus. This life in Heaven is eternity. They also believe that before they

reach Heaven, they have to go through Jesus to be judged.

VIEWS ON ABORTION Episcopal is against abortion. The background of many beliefs of the

Episcopal Church is based off of the Roman Catholic Church, but is became a church of its own.

They believed the Roman Catholic Church was to strict.

VIEWS ON MARRIAGE They are for homosexuality, in which

they allow for gay to be gay. Most Christians allow for only opposite

sex, in which they condemn same-sex behavior.

BELIEFS ABOUT ORGAN DONATION Episcopal thinks that organ donation is

needed from a Christian because Jesus gave His life for us then we can give blood, organs, whatever a person needs.

MAJOR RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS

BELIEFS REGARDING ROLE OF PHYSICIANS The doctor has authority of the

patient. In addition to dying, a sacrament would

be performed on the patient in this situation.

This also goes with blessings.
