TEASE

[PREVIOUSLY ON: Our crew awakens from stasis without theirmemories, name themselves numerically, bring the Androidonline, he discovers the ship has a preset destination, meetthe miners who tell them they are battling Ferrous Corp andto beware the legendary Raza, the crew makes the decision togive them weapons, they discover their true identities].

FADE IN:

1 INT. SHIP - BRIDGE 1

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and the Android stand on the bridge, staringat their mugshots and litany of offenses.

ONENo. It's impossible. There's noway. This can't be right.

(beat)Can it?

ANDROIDI recovered the information from afragment of the ship's logs relatedto its crew list. There's no reasonto doubt its veracity.

TWOOf course not. In fact, it all makesperfect sense now. The Raza -

ANDROIDThis ship -

TWOBut as far as those miners know: arace of bloodthirsty aliens, monsters, come to wipe them out.

THREE(with a little pride)

The stuff of legend.

ONEThe stuff of nightmares.

SIXBut truth is we're nothing but abunch of low-life mercenaries.

THREENo we're not.

(pointing at the screen)We're also thieves, pirates, smugglers -it's a very diversified portfolio.

ONEYou think this is funny?

THREEIt's my defense mechanism: humor. And, apparently, killing people.

SIXI think we need to talk about ournext move.

THREEHe's right. Hate to be the one tosay it, but if all this is true, itmeans we came here to do a job.

ONEYou want to go down to the planetand kill those people?

TWONo one's killing anyone.

THREEI didn't say I want to. I'm justthinking about the people who hiredus.

SIXFerrous Corporation. Galacticcombine.

THREEExactly. Not the sort who take kindlyto disappointment, I'm guessing.

ONEToo bad. I'm no murderer.

THREEThe screen says otherwise.

ONEI don't care what it says.

THREE throws a look to the Android.

THREEIs this all you managed to dig up?

ANDROIDUnfortunately, the rest of the datawas corrupted.

SIXWell, I suppose this is plenty. Hell of a lot more than I wanted toknow anyway.

FOUR (O.S.)We all wanted to know, and now wedo.

They swing a look to FOUR.

FOUR (CONT'D)These are the memories we left behind:death, despair, and chaos. So what? If they're no longer a part of us,what does it even matter?

And, with that, FOUR strides off, leaving them to contemplatethose mugshots...and the list of offenses. Clearly, to afew of them, it does matter. It matters a lot.

The others slowly file out after him, leaving only TWO, eyeslocked on the screen, and the Android.

ANDROIDShould I continue my attempts atdata retrieval?

It's almost as if TWO doesn't even hear her.

ANDROID (CONT'D)Portia - ?

TWODon't call me that. No computerfile is going to tell me who I am.

She considers, throws a look to the Android.

TWO (CONT'D)Call me Two.

And, with that, she too leaves the bridge.

ACT ONE

2 VFX - SPACE 2

The Raza in orbit.

3 INT. SHIP - BRIDGE 3

FIVE sits alone on the bridge, staring up at the mugshots. She seems troubled, deep in thought. Suddenly, from thecorner of her eye, she catches sight of -

The Android suddenly there, standing only a few feet away.

FIVE(startled gasp)

ANDROIDI'm sorry. I didn't mean to startleyou.

FIVEYou didn't startle me. You scaredthe crap out of me sneaking up likethat.

ANDROID(pleased)

My stealth subroutines are veryefficient.

FIVEWell dial them back. Or say somethingthe next time you walk into a room.

She redirects focus back to the screen. Beat.

ANDROIDAre you afraid of them now?

FIVEYou think I should be?

ANDROIDTheir history shows a propensity forviolence, mental instability, extremeanti-social behavior, deceit -

FIVEWhat's important is who they arenow.

ANDROIDAn admirable attitude. Also, potentially a very foolish anddangerous one.

FIVEHey, you're the one who tried tokill us.

ANDROIDThe result of a programmed directivethat has since been deleted.

FIVESame with them maybe, right?

The Android considers. The kid has a point.

ANDROIDIf it's not fear, then why are youupset?

FIVEWhat makes you think I'm upset?

ANDROIDI can see muscular tension in yourjaw and shoulders. I can hear asmall increase is both respiratoryrate and heart rate. I can smell adistinct shift in pheromone production -

FIVEOkay, okay. I get it.

She looks back at the screen.

FIVE (CONT'D)If you want to know, it's becauseI'm the only one who's not in thefiles. I'm not one of the crew. Sohow did I get onboard this ship?

The Android has no answer.

FIVE (CONT'D)At least they know they belong here. I'm still just a big question mark.

ANDROIDThere may come a time when you'llconsider yourself lucky not to becounted among the crew of this ship.

FIVEWell right now, I just wish I waspart of the team.

She heads for the exit, then pauses and looks back.

FIVE (CONT'D)Oh, and one other thing: maybe don'tgo around telling people you cansmell their pheromones. It's notgonna win you any friends.

And with that, she exits. The Android considers.

ANDROIDBut I can smell them.

4 INT. MARAUDER (DOCKED) 4

THREE sits alongside SIX as the big man runs him throughShuttle Operations 101:

SIXWeapons array, sensors, navigationand critical systems. Flip this, close that, hit these two and youbring the engines online.

THREEHow do you know all this?

SIX(a little frustrated)

I don't know, I just do. Maybe youdo too. Try it.

THREE takes a breath, and then tries the controls. After amoment a loud ALARM begins to sound. SIX springs into action, quickly shutting everything down. The ALARM goes silent.

SIX (CONT'D)Maybe not.

THREEI can't concentrate anyway. Thiswhole thing has got me thinking.

THREEWhich one of us do you figure hasthe bigger rep?

SIXHunh?

THREEI mean, just based on what we knowabout each other - which I know isn'tthat much to go on - rank us in orderof Most Wanted, from "super bad-ass"to "cause for concern".

Off SIX's blank stare -

THREE (CONT'D)For instance, I don't know aboutyou, but I'd put me at number one, then you in the number two slot. Boss Lady in third on account of herattitude and then ol' SlashyStabberson would be fourth. PrettyBoy and the kid are a tie for lastplace because she looks like shemight have a bit of a temper.

SIXYou serious?

THREEWhat? You'd rate her higher?

SIXThis doesn't bother you at all?

THREEWhat?

SIXThe fact that we're wanted criminals? That if we get caught we'll spendthe rest of our lives locked away -if we're lucky? The fact that fromhereon in, we're going to be thetargets of our former victims andtheir friends and loved ones andanyone else looking to cash in on

Off SIX's look of disbelief -

5 INT. SHIP - MESS 5

TWO sits alone, drinking her coffee. ONE takes a seat acrossfrom her. She looks up, locks eyes with him.

TWOWhat now?

ONEI've been thinking.

TWOYeah, that's something you need toget under control.

ONEThose weapons in the cargo hold, thematching pendants - at first, Ithought it meant we were the oneswho were supposed to help the miners, that WE were their saviors. Now I'mwondering if it means we killed theirsaviors and heisted their delivery.

TWOYour point?

ONEIf I'm right, Ferrous Corp isn'tgoing to let this go. If we don'tdo the job, they're just going tosend someone else.

ONEWe can do better. Go all the way. Commit to something. We can fightwith them.

TWO stares at him.

TWOThat would be suicide.

ONENot necessarily. If half of what'sin those files is true, it means wecan handle ourselves.

TWOIt also means you could spend therest of your life doing good deedsand not even come close to making upfor it.

ONE looks away frustrated, but TWO is not done -

TWO (CONT'D)I know what you're trying to do, andit's not going to work. You don'twant to be what those files say youare, fair enough. I don't much wantto either. But I'm not gonna killmyself trying to make up for crimesI don't even remember committing.

She stands.

TWO (CONT'D)We stick to the plan.

ONEAnd who made you team leader?

TWOI did by stepping up. And so didall of you by not challenging mewhen I did.

She stares down at him.

TWO (CONT'D)Unless you've had a change of heartand think you can do a better job?

A stare-down. Beat. He blinks first.

6 INT. SHIP - FOUR'S QUARTERS 6

FOUR sits up in bed, puzzle box in hand. He studies it hard, trying to jog his memory. Beat. He makes a couple ofadjustments, reconsiders. He's stumped.

7 INT. MARAUDER - COCKPIT (DOCKED) 7

ONE, THREE, and SIX settle in. As SIX goes through his pre-flight check, FOUR enters. THREE watches as FOUR unhookshis sword and sets it aside before taking a seat.

THREESeriously, what's with the sword?

FOURIt's quicker, more effective in closequarter combat.

THREE(dubious)

More effective than a gun?

FOURWithout a doubt.

THREEYou figure you could outdraw me withthose?

FOURI'd have your head off before youcould even unholster.

TWO (O.S.)Hold up!

They glance back at TWO in the cargo hold. She addressesONE -

TWO (CONT'D)I need to talk to you.

ONE exchanges confused looks with SIX, then gets up and joinsTWO -

In the cargo hold. She hits the console, sealing them offfrom the cockpit, then turns and studies him, arms crossed, like a parent considering a child. Finally -

TWOLook, I may have been a little hardon you before. Believe me, I knowhow you feel. We all do. But tenminutes after discovering you usedto be a villain is not the time totry to be a hero. Baby steps, okay?

ONEOkay.

She gauges him.

TWOI'm serious. There's no room forindependent action. We need to watcheach others' backs, and we need tostick together. Do you understandwhat I'm saying?

ONEI - think so.

TWO(sighs)

Once those weapons have been deliveredand that shuttle comes back, I wantyou on it. Understood?

ONEYeah.

TWO smiles, palpably relieved. She gives him a friendly paton the cheek, perhaps a little too hard as it elicits a wince.

TWOAlright. Safe flight.

She walks off. He watches her go. Without even a look back -

TWO (CONT'D)And stop staring at my ass.

11 EXT. MINING COMMUNITY -- DAY (MATTE) 11

13 INT. MINING COMMUNITY - STORE ROOM -- DAY 13

ONE helps the miners stack the weapons against the far wall. As the miners head off to get more, he takes a moment tocheck out the contents of one crate.

He pulls out a sidearm and studies it, weighing itthoughtfully as if trying to jog his memory, gauge his comfortlevel with the weapon. A lifetime ago...

MIREILLE (O.S.)I'm sorry we couldn't do more foryou.

ONE glances back at Mireille who walks over with a small box -

MIREILLE (CONT'D)But all we had we gave to Hrothgar.

And sets it down atop the others.

MIREILLEYou're good people.

The last thing ONE wants to hear.

ONENo. That we're not.

MIREILLEOf course you are. You've helpedus, probably saved our lives.

ONEI'm starting to think it's just theopposite. By letting you have theseweapons, I'm afraid we're just givingyou false hope.

Off her surprised look -

ONE (CONT'D)You can't win this. If you stayhere and fight, you'll die.

MIREILLEI'd rather die than abandon thisworld. It's all we have.

She gauges a concerned ONE and throws him a hopeful look -

MIREILLE (CONT'D)But I'm hoping it won't come to that. We have help coming - and moreweapons.

THREE approaches, flanked by Keeley toting a big gun.

TWOThat's okay.

TWO hits the console, opening the door to her quarters.

FIVECan I ask you something? I know youdidn't exactly get the answers youwere looking for, but if you couldgo back to when we first woke up,and not know, would you?
