Dr. Beck completed her PhD in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs (University of Waterloo), where she held a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. In 2014-15, she was a Visiting Researcher at the Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems (IRI THESys) at the Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. Marisa’s research focuses on the politics and processes of evidence-based decision-making in climate and energy policy, and she is particularly interested in understanding the drivers of policymakers’ demands for and use of evidence in decision-making. Dr. Beck holds an MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics, and a graduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim in Germany.

Stefanie Haustein is assistant professor at the University of Ottawa’s School of Information Studies, where she teaches research methods and evaluation, knowledge organization, information visualization, social network analysis and information literacy. Her research focuses on scholarly communication, bibliometrics, altmetrics and open science and analyzes the role of social media in academia. Stefanie co-directs the ScholCommLab, a research group that analyzes all aspects of scholarly communication in the digital age. She is also an associate member of the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST) and an affiliated researcher at the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies (OST), Université du Québec à Montréal.

Professor Gattinger’s research and engagement focus on the energy and arts/cultural policy sectors, exploring how to strengthen governance, public policy and regulation in the context of fast-paced innovation, technological change and markets, fundamental social and value change, and lower public trust in government, industry, science and expertise. Gattinger is a Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute and serves on the International Advisory Board of the DC-based think tank the Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies, the Advisory Council of the Nuclear Waste Management Organization and the Learning Council for Pollution Probe’s Energy Exchange. She holds a Ph.D. in public policy from Carleton University.

Marisa Beck, PH.D., a obtenu son doctorat en gouvernance mondiale de la Balsillie School of International Affairs (Université de Waterloo), où elle était titulaire d’une bourse d’études supérieures du Canada Vanier. En 2014-2015, elle a été chercheuse invitée à l’Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems (IRITHESys) à l’Université Humboldt de Berlin, en Allemagne. Ses travaux de recherche portent sur les politiques et les processus de prise de décisions fondées sur des preuves en matière de politiques climatiques et énergétiques. Elle souhaite particulièrement comprendre les facteurs qui poussent les décideurs à solliciter et à utiliser des preuves pour la prise de décisions. Marisa Beck, Ph.D., détient une maîtrise en réglementation environnementales de la London School of Economics et un grade d’études supérieures en administration des affaires de l’Université de Mannheim en Allemagne.

La docteure Gattinger est Fellow au Canadian Global Affairs Institute, et est membre du Conseil consultatif de la Société de gestion des déchets nucléaires, du Conseil d’apprendissage de l’initiative Energy Exchange de Pollution Probe. Elle est titulaire d’un doctorat en politiques publiques de l’Université Carleton.
