1. SIGN IN TO YOUR HPL DIGITAL ACCOUNT

a. Access http://hadc.lib.overdrive.com in your web browser. b. Tap on Sign In on the top right hand side of the screen. Then, tap on select library box and select

Houston Public Library.

c. Enter your HPL library card number. Then, tap on Sign In button.

• HPL library card number starts with either 22477 or 77422.

• HPL temporary library card number will not be accepted to check out eBooks.

• Check “Remember my login information on this device” if you want your device to save the login information for next use.


2. FEATURES OF YOUR HPL DIGITAL ACCOUNT

a. Bookshelf: You can view all digital items which you have checked out. You also can download, read, or return your digital items here.

After sign in, tap on the Account icon to

view the following features:

• Bookshelf

• Holds

• Lists

• Settings

• My Account.


b. Holds: You can view all digital items which you have placed on hold here. You also can remove or edit the hold here.

c. Lists: You can view all digital items which you have added to the wish list here.

You can use Edit to change the

notification email address for your holds

here.


3. CHECK OUT AN OVERDRIVE READ EBOOK

a. Sign In with your HPL digital account if you did not sign in yet (Instruction in Step 1).

b. Tap on Advanced Search. Then:

i. Enter information of your desired eBook into appropriate fields. ii. Select OverDrive READ eBook in the format Field.

iii. Select Available Now if you want to see titles available to check out immediately. Otherwise select All Titles to view all titles.

iv. Tap Search to view your searching results.

Note: On the cover images, available titles have a dark book icon on the top right corner, those

which are checked out and require a hold have a greyed-out book icon .


c. When you find your desired eBook, tap on the cover image of the book. Then, tap on Borrow button.

d. Tap on READ button to start reading the checked out eBook on your web browser.


4. RETURN AN EPUB EBOOK

Note: OverDrive eBooks will automatically return to the library's collection at the end of their lending periods. However, you may return eBooks early if you wish to remove the title from your HPL Digital account.

a. Tap on your Account icon. Then, tap bookshelf. b. Tap on Return Title button next on the eBook that you would like to return.
