REDIFINING THE LIMITS OF PRECISION AND QUALITY

Page 2: ERA_APT Aerospace Presentation- LM

ERA and Aphelion combined forces in May of 2014 and by doing so we are able to expand our experience and capabilities to the aerospace manufacturing markets and better serve and grow with our customers.

ERA with experience in both commercial and military aerospace machining brings strengths of 5 axis, grinding, turning and difficult to machine materials particularly high nickel alloys. ERA proudly works with Honeywell in which we are preferred supplier ,GE aerospace, Danaher and Dover.

Aphelion brings 5 axis including multiple pallet systems, EDM, Brazing and complex assemblies with extensive experience working with titanium. Core of business is on defense side of aerospace machining and assemblies. Aphelion has extensively worked with Prime contractors such as Northrop, Lockheed, Woodward and General Dynamics.

With our combined experiences and expertise we confidently can handle any of your manufacturing needs.

3 & 4 AXIS MILLING

Our 3 and 4 axis milling department consists of up to full 4 axis machining capabilities with up to 20,000 RPM spindles.

Our experiences with fixturing, complex milling (including 3-D milling) allows us to hold tolerances approaching zero which gives us the edge over our competition.

Page 13: ERA_APT Aerospace Presentation- LM

5 AXIS MILLING / LIGHTS OUT MACHING

With a total of 16 5-axis mills 7 of which are multi-pallet. 5-axis technology helps us reduce the amount of operations needed for complex machine components.

Page 14: ERA_APT Aerospace Presentation- LM

ADVANTAGES OF LIGHTS OUT MACHINING

Multiple pallets help us to manufacture in a true lights out environment. The advantage is to have dedicated setups for longer production runs, reducing costs and enabling us to better meet our customer’s ever changing MRP needs.

We are able to reduce costs to our customer’s and increase sales profits internally through the use of 5-axis multi pallet machines.

How we save you money:1) Reduced set up costs on long term production runs (having stored set ups)

2) Improved productivity rates. Standard machines that require operators to load individual pieces typically run at 75% productivity. With multi pallets we’re able to run at a 95% productivity rate.

3) The use of 5-axis machines with turning capabilities also give us the flexibility to reduce the amount of operations needed, reducing handling costs.

4) Less touch time per part.

5) Machines are always on green light (high uptime on our spindles).

BRAZINGAs we have continued to grow and diversify we have recently added the capability of Aluminum Vacuum Brazing and Aluminum Heat Treating to compliment the Brazing process. We have added two new ovens one for Brazing and another for heat treat with the option for forced air cool.

Aphelion is always looking to add new value added services by either bringing it in house or partnering with top suppliers that will further strengthen and diversify our company for the future as well as to better support our customers’ needs.

•Housing for F-16 Targeting Pod

•Materials: Titanium Overall Dimensions 16” x 14” x 14”

•Challenges: Assembly consists of six (6) electron beam welded components, which are later machined using angle head attachments with a 5 Axis Machining Center

Page 24: ERA_APT Aerospace Presentation- LM

•Missile component

•Materials: 13-8 and 455 stainless

•Challenges: Availability of fin was round bar only, required turning with air chuck due to .0001 dia tolerances, milling including 3D profiling, EDM (both wire and sink) and match fitting with serialization per assy. Tolerances .0002 with true positions of zero.

•Machined from Solid Bar Stock 303 Stainless Steel.

•Close tolerance Specification..

•High tolerance consistent wall thickness required.

•8 weeks Lead-Time including the reverse Engineering from casting.

•Bar Stock product was more consistent then original cast design.

•15” Turret System

•Materials: Aluminum with 17-4 bushing overall size 5.0 x 10.50 x 16.00

•Challenges: .003/.004 press fit of bushing. Two Coaxial holes true within .001 and perpendicular within .0004. Flatness, profiles and parallelisms all within .001

Page 27: ERA_APT Aerospace Presentation- LM

•Reverse Engineered Assembly from a damaged casting.

•Hog Out from a solid piece of Aluminum.

•Our engineering department was faced with a situation where there was no print or any Engineering data from the previous design.

Page 28: ERA_APT Aerospace Presentation- LM

•Titanium Forging was re-Engineered and made from a solid bar.

•This resulted in lower cost a product with superior strength than the original.

•Part requires deep hole drilling.
