Recently appointed by the GP DoE to implement a R500m ACM schools programme

Participation in the Public Works funded programme for urgent school construction using alternative construction technologies: 2010-2011-Value R180m

Participation in the National Eradication of Mud Schools and Inappropriate Structures Programme funded by the National Treasury (Provincial Grants): 2009-11 MTEF Period – Value R565m

An IDT funded programme in which IDT contributed Programme Management expertise as well as funding for actual school infrastructure: 2008 – 2010 -Value R150m

Additional funding of R48m for additional facilities like sports field, storm water management, laboratories etc. provided

Alternative and sustainable construction methods piloting (SABS/Agrement certified) aimed at:

Increasing speed of construction

Lower costs of construction

Response to CoGTA request to NDPW to assist with school restoration following natural disasters

Projects implemented:

10 schools in Eastern Cape

2 schools in North West

Schools specifications includes classrooms, admin block, resource centre (library and corporate lab), science lab, kitchen, fencing and paving

All 12 schools completed and handed over except Ntlangano in EC where there are access road challenges

Ntlangano JSS to be completed by end of June 2012

R130m Funding from NDPW Capital Works Prog
