The Lord will help you to forge a future for your love, ifyou do your share, when you stand to the commitment tolove and honor one another in good times and bad, in pov-erty and plenty, in sickness and in health, for better orworse, in that covenant which you are about to seal. Now,my brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebratethe sacred mysteries, let us call to mind our sins.

    (Brief silence)

All : I confess to Almighty God and to you my brothers and sis-

ters that I have sinned through my own faults, in mythoughts in my words, in what I have done, and in what Ihave failed to do. And I ask the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and to you my brothers and sis-ters to pray for me to the Lord our God.

    All : Amen.

Commentator : Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word.

    LITURGY OF THE WORD

Commentator : Marriage means great sharing of selves. To pray togetheropens up a new and deeper level of this sharing. To pray isto place our life in our Fathers hands. It is to listen to Him,to be open to His word, to respond willingly to His desires.Let us listen to the first reading.

    First Reading

Lorvi Ann : A reading from the Book of Genesis

Then the Lord said: It is not good for man to be alone. Iwill make a suitable partner for him. So the Lord Godformed out of the ground various wild animals and variousbirds of the air, and He brought them to the man to see

what he would call them; whatever the man called each ofthem would be its name. The man gave names to all the cat-tle, all the birds of the air, and all the wild animals; but noneproved to be suitable partner for the man. So the Lord Godmade the man fall into a deep sleep, and while he was asleep,he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.

The Lord God then built up into a woman the rib that Hehad taken from the man. When he brought her to the man,the man said: This at last, is bone of my bones and flesh

from my flesh! This is to be called woman, for this was tak-en from man. That is why a man leaves his father and hismother and clings to his wife, and the two of them becomeone body.

    The Word of the Lord.

through whom You made all things, whom sent as our Sav-ior and Redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born ofthe Virgin. Fulfilling Your will and gaining for You a holypeople, He stretched out His hands as He endured His pas-sion, so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the res-urrection. And so, with the angels and all the Saints we de-clare Your glory, as with one voice we acclaim:

At the time He was betrayed and entered willingly into HisPassion, He took bread and giving thanks, He broke it, andgave it to His disciples saying:

Take this, all of you, and eat it, for this is my body, whichwill be given up for you.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, He took the chal-ice and, once more giving thanks, He gave it to His disci-ples, saying:

Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chal-ice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
