Relationship between knowledge, attitude, and intention of quitting smoking for smoking students.

Evaluation of the Video

Conclusion

• Experience of smoking was significantly related to gender and family members smoking habit.

• Knowledge of adverse effects of smoking increased significantly as a result of the educational intervention.

• A significant attitude change was found at the end of the program implementation. But the attitude change was not sustained until one month follow up.

• Smoking students' intention of quitting smoking increased significantly after the intervention, but was not maintained.

• Overall the video program was an interesting material to the high school students. Participation of TV stars in the anti-smoking video program was more likely to have attracted the interest of non-smoking students, though this was not statistically significant.

• This implies that Participation of TV stars in the anti-smoking activities can be an effective media strategy of smoking prevention.

Implication

• For smoking students, intention of quitting was significantly negatively related to positive attitude toward smoking. In addition, for smoking students, attitude toward smoking was inversely related to knowledge. Information dissemination is an important factor for no-smoking education.

• More intense and continuos anti-smoking intervention needed for anti-smoking programs.
