BSEN SpecificationThis specification is now recognised as a BritishStandard – BSEN 12825, approved by CEN as avoluntary specification for private projects andmandatory public projects. BSEN specificationclassifies Raised Access Floors based on the load atwhich failure occurs, referred to as the ultimate load.This classification is also based on a chosen safetyfactor, deflection under working load and dimensionaltolerances.

PSA SpecificationThis specification is a long established performancestandard used by the Property Services Agency andnow referred to as MOB PF2 PS/SPU outlining fourgrades of raised access floor, light, medium, heavyand extra heavy. The PSA specification outlines astructural performance, methods of test to ensurecompliance and guidance as to the working areaswhere each floor grade may be used.

Cutting out the jargon

Here is an explanation of the main industry termsused in this brochure:

Panel – the load bearing, horizontal component of aRaised Access Floor system

Pedestal – the vertical, adjustable supportingcomponent of a Raised Access Floor system

Sub-Floor – the existing floor upon which a RaisedAccess Floor system is installed

Finished Floor Height – the finished floor heightfrom the sub floor, void height & panel thicknesscombined

Void – the space between the underside of a raisedfloor and the existing sub floor, sometimes referred toas a cavity or plenum.

The Eurodek® Fortress range consists of gravity loose lay panels, encapsulated in corrosionresistant galvanised steel, with a high density chipboard core, ideally suited to a wide rangeof applications, where strength and long life are the primary concerns.

All panels in the Fortress range have a unique lid to tray locking system, further strengthened by themechanical stitching. This is a unique feature that hasbeen designed to give the panels exceptional strengthand integrity.

The panels have a galvanised steel bottom tray with a 4mm out turned profile. The steel lid is then rolledaround the lower profile creating a locked, doublelayer of steel. This is then mechanically stitcheddelivering optimum strength and integrity from thepanel. Eurodek® Fortress Lock screwdown panels arealso available providing extra security where requiredand greater integrity for high voids.

The GIFAfloor system is a partial-access floor system using natural gypsum based(calcium sulphate) tongue & groove panel installed on a conventional 600mm gridaccess floor under structure. Once installed the floor is flat and smooth and joints willnot track through the applied finish and access can be incorporated with conventionalaccess floor panels or access frames.

Manufactured from highly compressed calciumsulphate, this panel is of a homogenous monolithicmaterial ideal for applications where acousticproperties and durability are paramount. GIFAfloor isalso the ideal replacement for floor screed particularlyin multi-storey projects where cost and time savingsare essential.

GIFAfloor has been fully tested with the Eurodek®

range of pedestals and achieves certification to BSEN13213. Eurodek® Cementitious

Precision die formed steel panels are available from Eurodek®

with an inert cementitious fill, suitable for areas with highrolling loads and to withstand high humidity’s such as GeneralOffice Areas and Data Centres.

A screwdown facility is available to provide extra rigidity andstability and Eurodek’s Cementitious panels deliver improvedacoustic and fire performance. The cementitious fill makesfloors quiet and solid under foot and is available with anumber of high quality finishes to suit any requirement.

Eurodek® Vision

Eurodek’s Vision range consists of a wide variety ofcompositions of glass vision panels supplied with a range oftreatments including banding, etching and sandblasting. Idealfor allowing immediate vision into an access void, or as adecorative addition providing light in areas where no naturallight is available, creating an atmosphere particularly inreception areas or lift lobbies.

Vision panels as standard are made up of double or triplelayered glass with clear 1.52mm PVB between each layer.Toughened glass panels, and low Iron glass panels, providingperfect clarity, are also available.

Air Distribution

A choice of Air Grilles and Perforated Panels are available whereairflow distribution is required. Easily interchangeable withstandard panels, these grilles and panels are ideal for datacentres, computer suites and comms rooms where aircirculation is important. Dampers can be included for precisecontrol of airflow, and a variety of finish effects are also available.All Eurodek® grilles and perforated panels are made to orderbased on the thickness and/or performance requirements ofeach project, please contact our technical helpline.

Cut Outs

Panels with Cut Outs are available to accommodate outletboxes for power, telephone and network cabling andgrommets, to enable relocation of workstations by allowing thepanel to be moved and the cabling re-routed to the requiredposition.

Pedestals, sometimes referred to as ‘up-stands’ or ‘legs’, are an integral part of any raisedaccess floor system.

The Eurodek® Raised Access Floor system incorporates a wide selection of different gradepedestals, available in a variety of heights from 26mm to achieve many finished floor levels.

Constructed from corrosion resistant steel, allEurodek® pedestals incorporate a locking nut to offera position locking facility, and are manufactured &tested for use with all Eurodek® Raised Access FloorSystems.

Eurodek® pedestals can be supplied with a variety ofhole centres, slotted to take stringers, or with angleheads where floor ramps are required.

Eurodek® Under Floor Fire Barrier is a high densitymineral wool and foil faced fire, smoke andacoustic barrier for raised access floor voids.

Supplied both cut to size or in slab form, the fire barrieris suitable for voids between 15mm and 1000mm andcan provide up to 120 minutes fire resistance,preventing the passage of flame and smoke throughthe void. Eurodek’s Fire Barrier also has acousticproperties to reduce flanking transmission of soundthrough the void by at least 9dB.

Carpet

Eurodek® offers a wide variety of loose lay carpet tilesin both loop and cut pile to complement the barefinished panels. Loose lay tiles allow quick and easyreplacement for very little expense.

Anti-static factory pre-bonded carpet panels are alsoavailable where immediate access to the sub floor isrequired.
