ConurbationThe proposed situation is located to theSoutheast on the border between theconsolidated city of Burgos and the rural land. Ithas town planning problems to be solved, suchas its location next to the current railway line (tobe removed) and next to a high-speed ring road(Ronda Sur); furthermore, it does not continuewith the urban layout of the adjacentconsolidated quarters.

SiteThe land runs from the bank of the Arlanzn andthe Parque de la Quinta park to the north, to theN-I Madrid-Irn main road to the south. Anattempt is made to relate to the adjacentquarters of El Crucero to the west and San PedroCrdena to the north, in order to investigatesocial practice on the scale of the quarter. To theSoutheast there is a pocket of residential land tobe urbanised which could give continuity to theideas of the competition.

ProgrammeThe building typology can be mixed: an apartmentblock or single-family dwellings, in order toinvestigate the typological innovation on the scaleof the habitat. The compatibility of uses serves toanalyse the monofunctionality of the residentialspace or the demand for social life in the quarteron an urban scale. The proximity to two urbanparks and to rural land, and the solution to theimpact caused by the train and the road, promotethe urban coherence and environmental quality ofthe sustainable processes.

social : There is a need to look for a relationship with the adjacent quarters of ElCrucero and San Pedro Crdena, for social intercourse on the scale of the quarterand interrelationships with consolidated residential areas and different typologies.

perceptual : The limits of the urban fabric should be studied, paying specialattention to the physical realityas special topography, train-road barrier, adjacentconsolidated quarters, urban parks, developable and rural land.
