Antwerp Northwest Europe Residue Upgrade Project, BelgiumWe have been working at Antwerp and for ExxonMobil for decades, since the 70s. After the successful completion of the front-end engineering design (FEED) we were awarded the EPC phase of the project, which was successfully completed in 2018.

Our world-leading commissioning and completions management service, is underpinned by long experience and intimate involvement in all phases of the project life cycle. We are differentiated by strong asset familiarity and our own robust software designed specifically to help customers navigate the fast-moving complexities of the commissioning phase. Our know-how gives us a deep insight into what makes a facility easy to construct, simple to commission, and safe and efficient to operate and maintain.

With over thirty years of continuous commissioning experience we have built a powerful team of specialists to lead our commissioning projects. We were the first in our industry to gain international certification for our hook-up and commissioning (HUC) processes. We prefer to engage with a project at engineering stage, our involvement here is minor but by gaining access at these formative stages we can guide the design and construction philosophies to a more seamless start up.

Long term partnershipCATS is a gas processing facility in Teesside, North England with infrastructure including 404km 36” subsea gas pipeline with a capacity of 1.7bcfd connected to gas processing facilities in Teesside, North East England. The system currently serves over 30 producing fields connected by a series of production hubs. In a long-term contract, Wood plays a major part in ensuring a successful outcome for the CATS business. Forth rail bridge, UK The project included removal of old paint and contamination, using cleaning and blasting techniques, and the application of new paint systems. We worked over water at 300ft and ½ mile from shore, ensuring there were no interruptions to the service.

We cleaned, inspected, repainted and where necessary repaired 300,000m2 of steelwork blast. 10% cost reduction to the overall budget.

EOG resources, UKWood successfully engineered and installed the EOG 300T Hang-Off Module (HOM) and Douglas topside modifications for the Conwy platform tie back. The project was implemented with no unplanned disruption to ongoing operations.

Late life asset managementWe concentrate on maximising economic recovery and optimising the transition between safe CoP and removal to minimise OPEX and ABEX through robust management of change process, duty holder services and pre-cessation preparation activities.

Comprehensive offeringWe provide wide-ranging capabilities including; facility make-safe, P&A, topside, subsea and infrastructure removal, disposal, site remediation and monitoring. Largest offshore liftIn 2017 we were awarded a contract to support Shell in the decommissioning of their Brent Bravo platform in the North Sea. Wood was responsible for preparing the platform for removal via a single lift methodology including structural strengthening and installation of under deck lift points. The contract followed on from our work on the Brent Delta which culminated in the topsides removal earlier in 2017, which at 24,200 tonnes was the heaviest marine lift ever undertaken at sea.

Our support to ITER includes:

4. A concept-level study into dismantling the ITER machine, once it comes to the end of its life in 2042

Designed and built the expansion of the LNG regasification terminals for the biggest European LNG importer.

We supported Enagas in expanding the LNG Regasification and Storage capacity 2.5 times for its three onshore domestic plants.

Europe’s largest onshore wind project

For Forsen Vind, Norway, we undertook the installation of 29 guyed lattice met masts, data monitoring and analysis for the site calibration phase. Followed by the installation of power monitoring equipment fitted to several wind turbine generators for the power curve test phase.

We are one of the world’s most experienced contractors in the engineering and construction of residue catalytic cracking/ fluid catalytic cracking (RCC/FCC) units, with a track record stretching back more than 50 years.
