Cover PageMy magazine cover attracts my audience as it

has a simple minimalistic layout connoting that it’s a relaxed, layed back magazine just like the audience reading it. I wanted the magazine to come across quite different and edgy so it was relatable to the readers. I was different from my inspired magazine ‘Loud and Quiet’ because I used female models instead as I wanted the audience to be able to accept different genders on the cover, I wanted the audience to recognise the genre and theme and therefore admire the cover and want to buy it. The girls all posed the same way and gave direct eye contact to the reader making it more personal.I made the masthead large and in a bold black font. The stands out on the contrasting white background. By standing out suggests that the readers have good attention and are drawn to things that are different and catch their eye. I inserted the bands name in white over the picture to make it more visible. Underneath I inserted a slogan which would link to the band and also attracts the correct audience due to the representation it has of life. I avoided using lots of heavy text as I didn’t want the cover to be overpowered and become an effort to read.

Double Page SpreadMy double page spread doesn’t follow the typical conventions of previous magazines I have looked at. I wanted to use text over both pages, however I didn’t want the text to look too bulky and boring. I got the idea to put pictures scattered around the pages in-between the text. This didn’t only separate the text but also added more colour and made it more appealing to the reader. I placed the title in a simple typewritten font at the top left hand page. Below I used a quote from the artists. I believed this was important as it gave an inside look on the artists opinion before the audience even read the article. This is helpful as it makes the reader want to read on and buy the magazine. I decided to begin with and outlook on the girls’ lives so the reader felt connected and knew more about them. I then started a question and answer section. I wrote the question in bold to make it clear to the reader and make their reading experience of my magazine easy and simple. At the bottom of each page was the website reference so this provides easy access and more information to the reader.

Contents PageI used a spaced out thin styled font at the top of the page. I followed a simple layout like the style of music magazine ‘Mojo’. I used coloured numbers just like in the inspired magazine. This made important parts stand out and provide ease to the reader. Instead of using one large photo I decided to use 3 smaller ones as I thought this suited my magazine a lot more and I really wanted to capture the different personalities of each artist. I believed that the reader feels more connected if they see more of the artists and know more instead of just putting one individual photo. I inserted a dotted line below the contents not only for decoration but also to separate the page more in order for it to look clean and therefore the reader will admire it and want to read on further in the magazine. If the contents is a mess they may think the rest of the magazine would be also so it’s important to get it right. I decided to place my page numbers in the middle of the page instead of the conventional corners. This added originality to my magazine.
