HOW DID YOU
ATTRACT/ADDRESS
YOU’RE YOUR AUDIENCE
Characters
In terms of characters we addressed our audience by using actors would fit the convention of a crime drama character. For an example we used characters with a lower class background to attract audiences from deprived areas in the country as they would relate to the storyline being portrayed. We also made our characters act in a mysterious way to attract the hardcore crime drama as mystery is one the convention of a crime drama so it definitely attract those sort of audiences.
Setting
The set and locations we used in our film
would attract our target audience because we
used similar locations and set in the TV series
Top Boy. Top Boy used urban locations in their
series as we followed that by filming scenes in
council houses. I feel that the similarities with
Top Boy would attract our target audience as I
consider Top Boy fans could be interested in
our film due the similarities we share together.
Soundtrack
The main soundtrack we used in our film was
rap/grime music. The reason behind this
soundtrack for our film was because it fitted in
with the story we were trying to tell which was
about gang warfare. We know the majority of
our audience will be youths and there
preference of music would rap/grime song so I
feel we made the right decision in picking the
soundtrack as it draws in our main target
audience.
Titles
In terms of the titles in used in my film, I wasn’t
creative enough when I was creating the
characters. The reasoning behind this was
because the codes and convention of the
genre we wanted to portray didn’t state that we
need creative titles, so in order to attract our
target audience we wanted follow the codes
and convention
Cinematography
For cinematography aspect we made industry
standard shots in most scenes in our film
which would be expected as it states in the
brief. But to be able to attract our target
audience we used creative cinematography
such as POV shot we used for the chase
scene to create tension and drama for our
audience as crime drama viewers would
expected those of codes in a film of that genre.
