Happy Birthday wishes go to:
Dear Parents,
April is here, and with it comes Spring, a time all the students will surely enjoy. March was a fun and busy month for our students as they celebrat-ed St. Patrick’s Day, East-er and they also had a special visit from the “cat in the hat” to celebrate Dr. Seuss birthday.
Everyone had a great time during all these wonderful celebrations!
We would like to invite
Emergency forms
In case of an emergency, the
school office needs to contact parents or guardians. Please make sure that we have up-to-dated emergency numbers in your child’s file.

It’s time to spring into the splen-
did month of April! This month we will be
celebrating Earth Day! In the continuation
of learning embedded with music, we have
prepared an array of wonderful lessons for
our students. Our themes for this month
are as follows: Plants, Animals and Life
Cycles; To Market, To Market; Needs/
Wants and Community Workers.
For our Language Arts time we
will be reading: “A Birthday Gift For
Mother, Needs Before Wants, You Don’t
Need It, Jose’s Choice” Also for Lan-
guage Arts we are engaging the students
with the reading program “Reader Rabbit”
and “Starfall.” For this month our goal is
that at the end of the lesson, students will
be able to listen to the stories in “Reader
Rabbit,” and Starfall, answer questions
about each story, write vocabulary words
legibly, and read word families. Our stu-
dents really enjoy these programs and have
a lot of fun with them.
In Social Studies our class will be
exploring our community workers. We
will be reading “All Around the Town” and
“Where Do They Work.” We will also be
playing vocabulary BINGO to help in-
crease our students’ site words involving
community workers and buildings! Our
objective is that at the end of this lesson,
our students will be able to recognize and
become more familiar with the many com-
munity workers around them.
For our Science lessons we will
be investigating Natural & Manmade Re-
sources! We will be learning how
things change form like from Blos-
som to Honey, Cacao Bean to Choc-
olate and Lemon to Lemonade!
As for math we will con-
tinue using “Mighty Math Count-
down and Zoo Zillions.” However
we will be focusing on colors and
reading books such as Planting a
Rainbow, and Brown Bear, what do
you see? Also in continuance of
counting the single digit numbers to
ten, our objective is that by the end
of the lesson the students will be
able to identify and match the colors
of the rainbow, and the numbers 1-
10.
We are so happy to an-
nounce that our student of the
month is Jaiden Cooper!!! He has
made tremendous progress while at
Carousel. He is doing well with
listening to and following instruc-
tions. We are so proud of him!
Here are a few friendly
reminders, for the month of April.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
To celebrate St. Pat-rick’s Day, Carousel School had a door Decorating Con-test. Our Classroom won the 2nd Place for the NPS category gathering 353 votes. Thank you for “liking” the classroom door picture of St. Patrick in the Carousel School Facebook page. It was so fun. Staff, students and parents were busy asking “friends of Carou-sel” to vote for their favorite classroom. St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated on March 17 – Thursday. The students and staff had a wonderful time dancing at the playground with loud speakers installed
for the music. Our classroom was decorated with St. Pat-rick’s Day theme. Other themes for the month of March was “Physical Science” as “Energy Around Us” as the theme from the Unique Cur-riculum of LAUSD. We had the “Cat in the Hat” theme on the first week of March, Spring activities on the second week, Easter theme on the third week, and Spring Break (NO SCHOOL) for the last week. Room 8 had a wonderful month in March. We continued to learn about staying healthy by eating the
right foods, taking care of our appearance, and cleaning our teeth. All of our class participated wonderfully
and thoroughly enjoyed the learning process!
We enjoyed our community based instruction at the Flight Path Museum at Los Angeles International
Airport. There, we saw aviation history as well as met a working police dog named Mattie. Our second
community based instruction trip of the month saw us go to Chuck E. Cheese’s. We demonstrated great
social skills by eating appropriately and by taking turns ordering, getting drinks, and filling our plates with
food. A good time was had by all!

Dear Parents,
Yes, as we approach the middle of the year, 2016, Room 6 would like to thank all family
and friends for their continuous support. The students continue to make progress, both socially
and academically. Room 6 will continue to identify means and ways to insure that the students de-
velop both verbally, socially, and improve their basic academic skills. We value their efforts and we
use every educational strategy to help improve some of the challenges they face, as well as develop
their strengths. We ask, that all of state holders continue to challenge the students with activities
that are relevant to their social/academic development. We can assure that at Carousel all the staff
put the safety of our students as a priority and we always make sure that we strive to meet their
goals. We ask parents to continue to provide Room 6 with your continuous support as the year
continues to move along. Thank you from all the staff in Room 6 for entrusting us with your
son/daughter’s education.
Mr. Juan, Mr. Brian, Ms. Brittany
This month Room 9 welcomes back the return of spring. This month we visited once again visited
Kenneth Hahn Park to hold a community based instruction trip. There the students practiced their
food handling skills as they enjoyed various foods provided by our staff. Carne asada, hamburg-
ers, hot dogs, and homemade salsa were just some of the foods that were provided. In addition to
the food, we held various sporting activities to get our students acquainted with guidelines within
a public setting. Soccer, dodgeball, and the always enjoyed water balloon toss were some of the
activities our students participated in.
In curriculum, the onset of spring is the perfect time to learn about science. We started off the
month learning about different energy types and how they fuel our lives. From energy we transi-
tioned over to plants and their importance in our lives. Topping off the month of science the stu-
dents grew their own plant to demonstrate the use of solar energy in plant photosynthesis.
