Project: CAPTURING HISTORY Duration: 07/04/2016 - 02/02/2017 Receiving organization: Associação Académica da Universidade da Madeira Place: Funchal, Madeira, Portugal

I was living in triple room in the dormitory on Rua de Santa Maria. Residência Universitária is located one minute to the ocean. this view from the exit - nothing to grumble.

When I wasn't shooting photos somewhere, my work place was the office of AAUMa. These views I had on my lunch break in the garden near the canteen, even in December :)

Mostly, My profession was more graphic designer than photographer as I was expecting more before project has started. My first task was huge challenge for me, but I really liked it. I had to design logo-stamps for the new project of AAUMa - Passaporte Cultural. After I was preparing each one of them to print. I didn't collect every stamp before ending my EVS, but it's one of million reasons to come back to Madeira.

On Cultural Passport I was working from april, even till after the public presentation during the fado concert in the late of june. In

the meantime and after I had many more different tasks:

I was taking photos of events in the university such as: baptism or arraial

I also took sport photos

I was taking pics of: monumental buildings, insides and objects in funchal

Activities of AAUMa,

work places of the rest

of volunteers - tour

guides and also tours

concerts of AAUMa fado group - Fatum;

portraits of freshmen

I was preparing publications with my photos for the web and social networking, also posters and others little graphic projects

A few times during the project, I was taking pics of Moche promotional actions. We've been visiting primary and high schools mainly in Funchal, but also we were in Porto da Cuz and Machico

I had also untypical tasks:

Never to late to start a career as a model. My hand was the star of paper articles poster on the university walls ^^

I was one of the judges in Miss & Mister

University contest

Every long-term EVS should have two meetings-trainings for volunteers from all the country: On Arrival and Mid term. I met great people in Braga, we had volunteers even from Indonesia!

Surprise in my double room. Big Brother?

One of the most interesting task was photography of souvenirs from Madeira and Portugal Continental, which tourist can buy in Gaudeamus shops. It was big challenge, because I had to “build” a studio having only the background and two soft boxes. After I used these photos to prepare online store website.

The next interesting project was preparing photo exhibition. I was selecting, choosing and preparing photos to print and after taking care of adding and taking off all pics. I also made the poster. The Exhibition was in ...toilets, because Mini Eco Bar is really “Mini” and the owners decided to use wall spaces there for every photo exposition.

Photos from exhibition: mini eco bar

I was helping as the photographer and tutoress of two trips in Doutorecos project. After, I prepared game for kids to the next activity which will be inaugurated in 2017 and called - Visitas Educativas.

For many people Madeira seems to be paradise. in the late '70s of the past century, it was the big earthquake here. in 2010 the huge flood came, nearly 50 people died. When I was arriving from the airport in august, I came to the middle of the big cloud after fire started to spread from Monte to Funchal coast. Three people died and fire came also to Calheta, Ponta do Sol and Ribeira Brava.

My last bigger tasks were: preparing multimedia presentation about AAUMa Activities for the Jesuits College visitors and Starter Map for new volunteers - with the most important places to help them in accommodation.

During the EVS I could realize my photography passion. In Madeira I found new field I love now - landscapes

I also wrote the article about Cultural Passport to Et Al. Magazine. Some of my photos were published there.

The most I fell in love in Madeira on my free time was the whole nature of this Unique island. I've visited 99% places I wanted, but still have many plans for next trails!

Thank you for your attention :)
