No.849
Dear Members, Widows and Spouses. I hope you are having a great summer and are staying hydrated and cool. I would
like to thank Lance Breaud and Jeff Hartley and their committee for the awesome time had by all at the Ragin Cajun Party. And, I will forgive you all for the ambush to throw me in the pool. I would also like to thank Matt Gra-ham for filling in for me while I was away at Grand Lodge. He did a great job. And thanks to those that came to meeting to support him and make sure we had a quorum. Also Gary Nielson will be hosting the kids Golf Shoot Out July 30th. I'm
sure it will be great as always. Grand Lodge was a fun time. I loved attending the meetings and having the privilege to vote on all the new resolutions. I attended a few break out meetings that were also very in-formational. And, I also picked up some flyers on Grants, ENF and a few other topics. I met with our area 7 Hoop Shoot Director and Billy Don-nelly from Grand Lodge to express some of my concerns about Hoop Shoot and I'm happy to report that the change I requested is already being taken care of. This is a prime exam-ple of how hard work and dedication to something can make big changes. One voice can make a difference if it's for the good of the order. Our Grand Exalted Ruler is an Amazing man and will do a great job for us this year. I truly love going to State and Grand Lodge meetings. This is where I feel you learn the most about
Elkdom, the way we work and chang-es within the Order. I'm looking forward to our upcoming Golf Tournament Aug 20th at Glad-stan Golf Course Committee Chairs Jeff Hartley and Toni Hopes and their huge committee have been working hard to make it a great success as always. The Scout Troop 51 is having their 100th Birthday on August 6. If you’re out and about stop by and tell them Happy Birthday. They will be having activities all day and night. Also tell them how happy we are to have them in our lodge. Our next lodge meeting will be August 16th and we will be initiating our Ant-lers that night hope to see you there. Love from your Exalted Ruler Brenda Shaw

Veterans Corner Here are some pictures of the Central Utah Veterans Home Flag Day and pictures from the Provo Freedom Festival Flag retirement at Macey’s. The picture on the right is the young lady who won the Freedom Festival essay contest. She was the best speaker at the event. Due to my commitment to be at the Freedom Festival Flag ceremony I was not able to be at the Lodge Flag re-tirement. Congratulations to Boy Scout Troop 51 for a excellent
job doing the Flag retire-ment and the burning of all the Flags that were brought to the Lodge. I would like to thank Jean Smith for the great job planting flowers in the Veterans Park. Also she did the plantings and stone stepping stones at the front entrance. What a Great Lady. Thanks so much Jean. When you see her tell what a great job she did.
