Creatività Collettiva e Exponential Thinkingovvero come sopravvivere in tempi esponenziali.

A brief introduction to FL: our present

• Start up born on Oct. 2009• R&D Spin Off of an Industrial Company• Laboratories: Mechanics; Electronics;

Metrology; IT• Main skills: Metrology; Mechanics;

Electronics; Mechatronics; Optics; IT• Uniqueness: ability to ‘mashing up’ skills

and different know-hows into something different, what we call ‘Exponential Thinking’.

DID YOU KNOW?

“we are living in exponential times”

That means….

we need to thinkEXPONENTIALLY!

Living in the age of ‘allatonceness’

- Awareness (vs. Focus)- Exponential Learning- Relationship capital- Empower people to

share knowledge- Cross-contamination- Holistic approach- Assessing different

perspectives- Collective creativity

Collective Creativity

1. Playing, learning, being creative are ‘social’ activities even if we don’t always consider them as such.

2. Change, improvement and innovation are everywhere. They are part of our nature as necessary tools to improve life.

Creativity is the trigger BUT we need the willingness to challenge conventional thinking.

…And this is where we get stuck!As a matter of fact ‘creativity’ is what we get driven

out through experience and conventional (school) learning.

A simple fact:

Innovation means challenging what we take for granted, the things we deem obvious, the ‘tyranny’ of common sense…

…and this isn’t as simple and obvious as it may seem: it requires not only a multi-perspective view, but also a totally new approach to cooperative work, within and around the organization.

How do we capture the creative spirit?• Laugh and get people to laugh;• Provide and enjoy the freedom to

experiment;• There is no failing. Admit when you’re

wrong. It is OK to change your mind;• Keep things simple;• Provoke the senses;• Create positive conflict. Don’t take ideas

personally;• Use a new map (Double-Loop Learning);• ‘Make the box bigger’

Single vs. Double-Loop Learning

• Single-loop learning focuses on efficiency, reducing risks, executing routines and affording control. Given goals, values, plans and rules are operationalized rather than questioned.

• Alternatively, the governing variables can be questioned and subject to scrutiny. Double-loop learning may then challenge assumptions and beliefs and thus lead to breakthrough innovation.

Why don’t you think ‘out of the Box’?

• Each individual’s box is the cumulative effect of experiences over a lifetime. Thinking outside the box is a painful task for most people;

• Instead, we can work to expand our boxes through collective interaction.

They did it!

Welcome to a ‘box’ that has become an entire universe….
