Step 1

Remove the engine cover by pulling straight up at its four corners.

On S6/S7, remove the front cover by removing the two push pins

at the arrows in Figure 1.

On RS6/RS7, remove the front cover by removing the eight push

pins at the arrows in Figure 2.

Step 2

The front edge of the cover has pins that lock into the grill/

bumper, slowly start to pry up on the front edge, as shown at ar-

row in Figure 3.

Work your way across until the cover is loose. Pull up on both

side covers to unclip them from the front cover.

Remove the plastic trim piece by removing the three T-30 torx

screws at arrows in Figure 5.

Remove the inlet scoop by removing the two T-25 screws at ar-

rows in Figure 6.

Loosen both hose clamps at arrows in Figure 7 to remove the ac-cordion couplers from the turbo inlet tubes. Slide a flat head screwdriver between the metal tube and the coupler to pry both couplers off.

Pull out on the locking tab with your finger and rotate the tube assembly up to remove it from the airbox.

With the tube assembly removed, the airbox and inlet hose can

be removed as one assembly. Completely remove the factory in-

take by simply lifting straight up on it to pop its pins out the rub-

ber mounts. If the rubber mounts come out with the filter pins,

make sure to reinstall them in the correct location on the car.

Install the silicone coupler onto the turbo inlet tubes as shown in Figure 9. Reuse the factory hose clamps for clamping the indi-vidual legs of the coupler. Squeeze the 90-110 hose clamp into an oval shape and slide it onto the inlet of the coupler.

Keep all the clamps loose for now.

Pre-assemble the carbon fiber airbox by installing the air filter onto the pin mount in the carbon air box. Push the filter in until it sits flush with the top of the opening.

Apply the supplied blue thread locking compound to the four button head fasteners. With a 3mm hex tool, fasten the carbon elbow tube to the airbox. Make sure the flange of the tube slips inside the opening of the filter and that it is installed in the cor-rect orientation for placement back into the engine bay. Do not over-tighten bolts, as over-tightening could damage the carbon flange.

Squeeze the two 130-150 hose clamps into a triangular shape.

Slide both of the hose clamps into place and install the coupler

and inlet tube onto the carbon airbox, as shown at arrow in Fig-

ure 11. Leave the clamps loose at this time.

Install the complete airbox assembly into the engine bay.

Start with the inlet tube (front of box) tilted down so that it will fit under the radiator support. Do not push down to seat the box into the rubber mounts at this time.

Move the airbox until it is centered over the three rubber mounts and the carbon elbow tube is inside the turbo inlet silicone cou-pler. Now push straight down on airbox assembly to seat it into the rubber mounts.

Once the airbox is firmly mounted, fasten the inlet tube to the radiator support by reusing the factory T-25 screws.

Make sure that all of the carbon pieces are fully bottomed out

inside their silicone couplers, then tighten down all of the clamps.

The clamps will shape themselves to fit the profile of the couplers

when tightened.

Reinstall the all of the factory trim pieces and engine cover in the same manner they were removed.

For future service of the air filter, the airbox can remain installed.

Loosen the clamps holding the silicone boot to the turbo inlet tubes. Remove the four button head bolts at arrow in Figure 13, using a 3mm hex tool. Remove the carbon elbow and pull the filter straight out of the airbox.

This is a re-usable air filter that can be cleaned when dirty and put back into service.

Please inspect the air filter element every 25,000 miles for integrity.

Clean every 50,000 miles under normal operating conditions, sooner in dusty conditions. Contact AWE Tun-ing to purchase a filter maintenance kit.

Upon verification of warranty coverage, AWE Tuning will repair or replace the defective product at their dis-cretion, without charge. This is the only remedy the Consumer has for any loss or damage, however arising, due to nonconformity in or defect of the product. This warranty does not cover consequential damage, loss of time or revenues, labor costs, shipping costs, inconvenience, loss of use of vehicle, damage to the vehicle or components, or other incidental or indirect damage. All warranties are void if the product was not installed by a certified auto mechanic, improperly serviced, modified, or used in a way not intended by the Manufacturer. Use of product in Motorsports or Racing con-ditions is grounds for warranty denial. Motorsports and Racing is an inherently abusive operational condi-tion, and it is impossible to warranty for this type of usage. The Consumer is responsible for ensuring that the product is installed in a safe and proper manner, and should cease usage of the product immediately if an unsafe or improper condition is noted. If an unsafe or improper condition is noted, the Consumer should then immediately contact the facility where the product was installed or AWE Tuning directly. Please contact the original place of purchase for any warranty claims or explanations of this document.
