THE HOSPITAL FACILITY FIRE ALARM DESIGN IS BASED ON RELOCATION AND PARTIAL EVACUATION OF BUILDING
OCCUPANTS AS DEFINED BY NFPA 72-2013. EVACUATION ZONES CORRESPOND TO THE BUILDING SMOKE COMPARTMENTS

APPLIANCES SHALL BE PROTECTED UNTIL THEY ENTER THE EVACUATION ZONE WHICH THEY SERVE. PROTECTION SHALL
CONSIST OF CABLES INSTALLED IN METAL RACEWAY IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 72-2013..
THE BUILDING IS FULLY PROTECTED BY AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 13. WHERE
CIRCUITS ARE PROTECTED, THE RACEWAY SHALL CONSIST OF EMT AND OUTLET OR PULL BOXES WITH METAL COVERS.
FIRE ALARM DEVICES SUCH AS SLC DEVICES OR NOTIFICATION DEVICES SHALL NOT BE CONNECTED TO THE PROTECTED
PORTION OF THE CIRCUIT. ATTACK BY FIRE WITHIN AN EVACUATION ZONE SHALL NOT IMPAIR CONTROL AND OPERATION
OF NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES OUTSIDE THE EVACUATION ZONE.

STYLE 7 AS DEFINED BY NFPA 72-2013. SIGNALING LINE CIRCUITS SHALL BE ARRANGED CLASS B STYLE 4 AND
SHALL BE SUB-DIVIDED USING TEE-TAPS AND ISOLATION MODULES. SIGNALING LINE CIRCUITS SHALL NOT BE TEE-TAPPED
OUTSIDE OF A THE CLOSET WHERE THE FACP IS LOCATED. NOTIFICATION APPLIANCE CIRCUITS SHALL BE ARRANGED CLASS B

DIFFUSERS AND RETURN AIR GRILLS.
(6) LOCATE A SMOKE DETECTOR WITHIN 21 FEET OF THE CENTER OF ELEVATOR DOORS.
