WHAT IS THE LANGUAGE FLAGSHIP?

An Initiative – federal investment designed to create a strong pool of college graduates of all majors with certified professional critical language proficiency.

A Program – to systematize high quality language learning opportunities with the expectation of success.

An Approach – designed to change the way Americans learn language.

A Partnership – between 23 major U.S. institutions articulated study and work experiences through 11 overseas institutions.

WHAT MAKES THE LANGUAGE FLAGSHIP DIFFERENT?

Flagship is different, because it is intensive, innovative, results-oriented and requires:

• Intensive language and culture instruction articulated through all language levels’

• Professional-level language ability, alongside an academic major, not only as a major;

• Group training and individual tutoring beyond classroom instruction;

• Advanced language and culture immersion overseas at Flagship Overseas programs

• Students to directly enroll in foreign universities and take courses in their major;

• In-country professional internships demanding daily language use and improvement;

• Results from all Flagship students with progression based on proficiency, not grades;

Finally, what sets the program apart is “FLAGSHIP CERTIFICATION” our assurance that

graduates certified by The Language Flagship have completed all program requirements

and have attained ACTFL Superior proficiency.
