The directions for this pattern assume that the assembler of the quilt is proficient in rotary cutting and piecing techniques. While the assembly of the quilt is rather simple, the cutting is quite detailed. Fabric requirements should allow for enough

material to complete the quilt. Errors in cutting and piecing are not the responsibility of

Stitch or Allison Fox.

For the red & gray log cabin blocksFor the red & gray log cabin blocks1. From the red fabric, cut the following: (7) 1-7/8 inch strips. Cut these into: (4) 11-1/8 inch strips (4) 9-7/8 inch strips. (4) 7-1/8 inch strips (4) 8-1/2 inch strips (4) 4-1/2 inch strips. (4) 5-7/8 inch strips (4) 1-7/8 inch strips (4) 3-1/8 inch strips. (4) 12-1/2 inch strips.

2. From the gray fabric, cut the following: (6) 1-7/8 inch strips. Cut these into: (4) 11-1/8 inch strips (4) 9-7/8 inch strips. (4) 7-1/8 inch strips (4) 8-1/2 inch strips (4) 4-1/2 inch strips. (4) 5-7/8 inch strips (4) 1-7/8 inch strips (4) 3-1/8 inch strips. (4) 12-1/2 inch strips.

Sew the log cabin units together following the diagram to the left. Join the log cabin units following the picture of the quilt.

From the black fabric:1. Cut (5) 1-1/2 inch strips from the black fabric for the inner border.

Measure the center unit at the top, bottom, and center and take the average measurement. Cut the top and bottom inner borders to this exact length from the black 1 1/2 inch black fabric strips. Attach

the top and bottom inner borders. Next, measure both sides and the center of the center unit and take the average measurement. Cut the

side inner borders to this exact length. Attach the side borders.

For the Top & Top & Bottom borders:1. From the gray fabric, cut the following: (2) 6-1/2 inch strips. Cut these into: (8) 10 inch segments.

2. From the red fabric, cut the following: & white fabrics, cut the following: (3) 3-1/2 inch strips.

3. From the white fabric, cut the following: (3) 3-1/2 inch strips.

4. Sew the red and white strips together into (3) red & white pairs. Cut these strip sets into: (32) 2-7/8 inch rectangle segments. Sew these segments into: (16) four patch units. Join Two four patch units together to yield 8 double four patch.

5. Sew the double-four patch segments to the gray 10 inch segments cut in step one.

6. Join Four of these gray/double-four patch segments together to form the top border, and Four segments to form the bottom border.

For the Side borders:1. From the gray fabric, cut the following: (2) 10-1/2 inch strips. Cut these into: (10) 6-1/2 inch segments.

2. From the red fabric, cut the following: (3) 3-1/2 inch strips.

3. From the white fabric, cut the following: (3) 3-1/2 inch strips.

4. Sew the red and white strips together into (3) red & white pairs. Cut these strip sets into: (40) 3 inch rectangle segments. Sew these segments into: (20) four patch units. Join Two four patch units together, so that there are 10 total double-four patch.

5. Sew the double-four patch segments to the gray 10 1/2 inch segments.

6. Join Five of these gray/double-four patch segments together to form the side borders.

Attach the top and bottom borders to the center unit. Attach the four gray/red log cabin blocks to the side borders and join to the side of the quilt. Quilt and bind as desired.
