Fabula Living has established itself as an international

design company deeply rooted in traditional techniques,

craftsmanship, uncompromising quality and Danish design

traditions. We aim to tell stories with our modern rugs by

bringing together design, tradition and simple style with

the oriental techniques of weaving. It’s this behind the

scenes creative process that makes the design stand out.

Fabula Living is much more than modern interior design.

The careful selection of wool, linen, cotton and other raw

materials and shades of colour, the passion and patience,

the thickness and the details in the weaving are present like

invisible threads in all the rugs.

The 2017 collection embraces the home with a softness and understated luxury. Inspired by nature and the changing weather the collection features a range of classically natural designs in serene colours; dark nude, dusty green, yellow, shades of grey and blue.

Whilst each of the six designs has its own distinct character with seducing twists, they overlap in colours and qualities making them perfect for mixing and matching and creating comforting beauty in one room or throughout the home.

The characteristically uncompromising craftsmanship has been taken up a notch in these new lines of hand-woven contemporary rugs created in New Zealand wool mixed with linen or viscose.

Just like nature, the simple stripes, bold chequer and the soft shimmering convey something simple and calming yet very rich and complex.

The new collection is inspired by the elements, and the variations in humidity, heat and the changing moods in the weather has impacted the dying process and the final colours making the new collection a design story, where the weather comes full circle.

Long time collaborator and renowned Danish textile designer Lisbet Friis plays an important part in translating Fabula Living’s vision into the simple and striking Nordic style.

The award-wining designer has brought her extensive know-ledge of patterns, colours and materials into the collaboration, and she shares the company’s attention to detail and passion for creating long lasting design.

In her own studio in an idyllic forest north of Copenhagen, she is constantly sketching, trying and testing materials and colours. These on-going experiments produce results shown in international exhibitions and later provide ideas for her design commissions. Over the years, she has created classic colours and patterns for numerous international projects.

Her process is very much driven by an artist’s way of thin-king. She travels all over the world and picks up shifting moods and values in society. However, her inspiration always springs from the same source: the Nordic tradition and a strong connection to nature’s light and colours.

Inspired by the ever changing Danish weather like the beauty of a thick greyish fog, she transforms nature’s colour scheme and her own state of mind into specific colours or patterns.

In the 2017 collection she has taken her deep appreciation of nature and created a unique palette of balmy and serene colours – from the pale blue and sandy colours on a Nordic beach to the earthy tones of bare fields.

These feelings are effortlessly ingrained in the collection, which is created to bring natural comfort into the home in a time, when we all seem to be longing for peace and quiet.

While each design is special in its own way, they are all a part of the same idea. The designer wanted to make a harmonic collection with a natural colour scheme complementing different types of woods and styles in a home.

The style is stripped back to basic, and the unique approach to colours, details and craftsmanship make each design stand out with subtle striking features like a dash of yellow and an extraordinary blend of linen and wool. A complicated technique which creates the stunning blue chequer pattern in the Lotus design showcases her skills and makes it the focal point of the new collection.

Once again, her eye for noticing nature’s little details and her talent for translating feelings and ambience has resulted in new, fresh, contemporary and yet classic designs, something that is so unmistakably Fabula Living.

This classic and sophisticated design is made to create a stylish grounded feeling in any room. It’s a slightly toned down version of the popular Rosemary rug and gets the extra touch from the special mix of wool and linen. The striking red or white stripe finishes of a quiet and beautiful two-toned rug, which is very durable and will wear with a subtle shine.

The combination of viscose mixed with the wool and the beautiful colours created by the special hand dye technique ‘Gabbeh-dye’ creates a soft shimmer that looks almost like velvet. The Angelica hand-made rugs comes in the same shades of off white, grey and black as Erica and Viola.

Shades of soft grey and pale blue make the Viola design stand out. The dip dye technique ‘Gabbeh-dye’ has given the wool extraordinary shimmering colours. This striking design with a blend of flaming blue colours is getting a comeback. The Hortensia rug is now made in the same excellent quality as the Viola and Erica rugs. The sophisticated weaving technique and the special hand dying method ‘Gabbeh-dye' give the shimmering colours an even deeper and more balanced look.

We always recommend using an underlay to extend the life of the rug. An underlay ensures that the rug remains in a fixed position and reduces the risk of any staining. Most of our kilim rugs are reversible. We recommend that you turn the rug over every six months. Do not place the rug in direct sunlight. Daily cleaning:Vacuum the rug as needed. Never vacuum the rug with the brushes of the vacuum cleaner nozzle in the extended position.

You can also give the rug a gentle shake outside. Do not beat the rug. Spot cleaning, only woolen rugs:Dab the spot very gently with a damp cloth soaked in carbona-ted water. More thorough cleaning:We recommend professional cleaning.

UnderlayStructure: PES/Glass fibre yarn coated on both sides with a special anti-slip PVC-foam.

High quality underlay avoids rugs from slipping on smooth floors. The underlay is comfortable to walk on, offers impact sound insulation and protects your rug from premature wear. If flooring is treated with water-based lacquers, allow at least 3 months full drying time before using this product. Only suitable on floorings treated with solvent-free sealants. No adhesion when wet. Thickness app. 2,5 mm.

Made to measure serviceIf you need the perfect rug to fit a specific spot in your home, we have a made to measure service available for the majority of our designs.

As all our rugs are unique and handmade, the size can vary slightly from the ordered size (+/- 4 %). A bespoke rug can be delivered within a maximum of four months. For a sur-charge it’s possible to get delivery in just 10 weeks.

Please note, that you will be invoiced for a minimum of two m2 if you order a smaller rug. For round shaped rugs an additional 20% will be added to the fee.
