Fabulous Clothes SaleThe organising committee for The Fabulous Clothes Sale kindly made HGP one of the beneficiaries of the event at the Shire Hall last Autumn. The quality of the second-hand clothes was very high and there were lots of very satisfied shoppers! It was a triumph and HGP benefited from a most generous donation.

Christmas PartyIn December, the HGP tutors and trustees held the first ever Christmas party. This was tremendous fun with various party games, plus food and drink provided by the tutors and trustees, including some delicious spiced apple juice. The Orchard Room at the Holme

Lacy campus looked particularly festive as it had been decorated specially for the occasion. Unfortunately, Father Christmas was too busy to put in an appearance, but one of our gardeners, Elliot Evans, who also rides with the RDA, was pleased to see his horse trot by to join in!

NEW TRUSTEESThe current trustees are looking for people who are willing to share responsibility for the proper running of the charity while playing an active role at meetings, social and fund-raising events and occasionally in the Demonstration Garden at Holme Lacy. Horticultural experience is always welcome, but NOT a requirement. Some administrative and social media experience would also be very useful. Please contact Mrs Laura Hone (Chairman) on [email protected].

OBE for HeatherWe are immensely proud for our President, Dr Heather Barrett-Mold, who received an OBE in the New Year’s Honours. This was for Services to Horticulture,Sustainable Development and Environmental Conservation where she has made a majorcontribution to the UK’s horticultural and environmental sustainability policies.
