The scholarship program is funded by the OAS and the partner organizations: GCUB, CONACYT and AMEXCID. The OAS administers the program while PAHO/WHO provides monitoring and evaluation, along with technical guidance on research for health to scholarship recipients by promoting the use of research to address regional policies and priorities. PAHO/WHO offers a comprehensive toolkit of resources related to the Policy on Research for Health (CD49/10) such as a “Research” dedicated site for the scholars, virtual course offerings, conference information, journal articles, and potential practicum opportunities. This strategic alliance allows the OAS scholarship program to cover health-related graduate studies and collaborate with PAHO/WHO to promote research for health and support human resources for health capacity with the goal of strengthening health systems.
