It’s here, can you feel it? You don’t
have to walk very far to soak up the
sights and sounds of fall around the
Ozarks: the crisp crunch of falling
leaves, a brisk autumn breeze, steam-
ing pumpkin spice lattes and crackling
bon fires ready for the roasting. Don’t
forget the smell of homemade crock
pot chili; fall wouldn’t be complete
without it!
On Monday, October 17, Zeta Tau
Alpha alumnae and Drury collegians
are invited to gather and celebrate the
season. Together, we’ll commemorate
the day our fraternity was founded and
enjoy an essential fall favorite: chili. It’s
time to break out the crock pots, and
showcase your favorite recipe (side
dishes and desserts are welcome, too!).
Here’s a basic crock pot chili recipe to
get you started:

New Member Brunch is a time when the
Springfield Alumnae come together to wel-
come the newest members of Zeta Tau Al-
pha’s Mu Chapter into the fraternity. And
welcome back the rest of the collegians to
another exciting year in ZTA.
Kristen Humphreys, a young alumna, at-
tended the event for the first time on the
other side of college. She marked the day
by making her very first casserole, which
was quickly demolished by the
Zetas.
“I always enjoyed new member brunch
as a collegian,” Kristen said. “I wanted to-
day to be as much fun for these girls as it
was for me my freshman year.”
Fun was indeed had by all at the beauti-
ful home of alumna Dana (Bray) Barbo. The
collegians met and mingled with the alum-
nae, while taking in the beautiful September
day.
There was food galore: everything casse-
roles to croissants, fruit to cupcakes, cast
iron skillets to tiered trays. You didn’t even
have to taste the food to know it was
scrumptious, the smells wafting through the
kitchen would tell you that; and the number
of collegians coming back for seconds
and thirds!
The girls expressed their greatest appreciation for all
the food, the hospitality and the
accommodations. Everyone is looking forward to min-
gling again at the Founders’ Day Chili Supper on Drury’s
campus!
Recruitment Zetas in Paradise
2011
Formal recruitment culminated in the
exciting events on Bid Day (August 27),
which was held at the home of ZTA
alumna, Pam Tynes. Mu chapter wel-
comed fourteen awesome new mem-
bers and enjoyed lots of food, fun, and
swimming during Bid Day festivities.
The alumnae chapter had a blast
participating in recruitment activities this
year—congratulations to Mu chapter
on all of their hard work and excellent
new members!
BY: BRITTANY HOPP, ALUMNAE PRESIDENT
This year, as usual, the Springfield
Alumnae Chapter helped the ladies of
Mu Chapter at Drury University put on a
fantastic recruitment. Recruitment week
kicked off with Mock Recruitment on
August 21, which was well attended by
the alumnae chapter. The collegians
tried out a new skit for their Philanthropy
Party, in which the ZTA suite was deco-
rated like a Susan G Komen Race for the
Cure. The event was a great success!
Alumnae were on hand each night
of recruitment for various tasks, from pre-
paring refreshments to emergency sup
plies runs to a much needed
pizza delivery.

Hello you lovely Zeta Ladies!
My name is Amy Maas. I am a Mu (Drury University) graduate, pledge class
2005. I graduated with degrees in Theatre and Integrated Media (Journalism)
and I am happy to be your Vice President of Membership in the Springfield
Alumnae Chapter.
What I think my office means is I am in charge of: 1) checking that ZTA has
your correct contact information, 2) finding all the “lost” zetas in the Ozarks,
and 3) making sure all you wonderful people receive the information we send.
The other officers on EC and I are very excited about the possibilities for this alumnae chapter in the
upcoming years. The Ozark Zetas are a phenomenal group of women that have so much potential to
offer not only our local collegiate chapter, but also our community and the Zeta World.
I encourage you to continue to participate in alumnae events, share your ideas, invite sisters you have-
n’t seen in a while, and just have fun with the alumnae this next year!
Know that I am more than happy to listen to anything (comments, concerns, or just chit chat) from any
of you Zeta ladies! I am here to serve you guys!
ZLAM!
