DEAR ALUMNAE AND PARENTS, Happy New Year! I am so honored to serve as president this year. Our Gamma Zeta chapter wants to keep you informed with the things we have accomplished and the things we are looking forward to. We have continued to work hard this past year to raise money for our philanthropy--Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. When we take a break from our studies, we’re making memories together at events such as our Sisterhood retreat on the coast and our White Violet Ball in Tupelo. We always appreciate parent and alumnae involvement and the support you give our chapter. We hope to continue to keep you updated as we move forward with the semester. DEAR ALUMNAE AND PARENTS,

Happy New Year!

BETH BARNETT President

RACE FOR THE CURE On October 27th, we took a trip to Tupelo to volunteer at Race for the Cure. We passed out back signs to participants and goodie bags to survivors.

STEP SHOW Fraternities and sororities showed us their best moves to support breast cancer awareness on October 25th at the Starkville Sportsplex.

SAVE LIDS TO SAVE LIVES Thank you to the friends, family, and students who collected pink lids. For each lid, Yoplait gives 10¢ to Susan G. Komen Foundation and 5¢ to the ZTA Foundation.

NEW YEAR, NEW OFFICERS In November, the chapter elected its new Executive Council (EC). EC  officers  are  slated

through  an  applica4on  and  interview  process,  then  voted  on  by  the  chapter.    The  purpose

of  the  Execu4ve  Council  is  to  develop  the  agenda  for  the  weekly  chapter  mee4ng,  discuss

proposals  being  made  by  Programs  Council  (PC)  members,  and  discuss  maCers  that  should

be  brought  to  the  aCen4on  of  the  en4re  chapter.    EC  takes  the  lead  in  establishing  chapter

policy,  is  responsible  to  see  that  chapter  events  and  programs  are  conducted  following  all

Na4onal  Policies,  and  ensures  that  individual  chapter  members  are  familiar  with  and  abide

by  all  Na4onal  policies  when  aCending  ZTA  events.

One  of  the  first  responsibili4es  the  Execu4ve  officers  fulfilled  was  selec4ng  the  new  PC.

PC  officers  plan  and  implement  various  programs  for  the  chapter.        We  are  excited  about

this  year’s  officers  and  are  expec4ng  a  great  year!

White Violet Formal

During the Christmas season, ZTA was no exception

when it came to holiday cheer. The house was aglow

with twinkle lights and turquoise & silver decorations

put up by the Parents’ Club (a big “thank you” to

everyone who helped!). On November 29th, we

joined other students at MSU’s Holiday in the Junction.

Our snow globe gingerbread house made by Liz Ivey

wowed the judges in the Gingerbread House

Competition. December 3rd was our annual Family

Christmas, when we dressed in our tackiest Christmas

apparel to chapter before celebrating with our Bigs

and Littles. Each Zeta family took part in its own

traditions, including gift exchanges and photo-ops. No

matter what we did, it was great to enjoy the holiday

with our sisters!

What: Our annual formal date party with mo-town music by Accent

When: December 1, 2012

Where: The Summit in Tupelo, MS

Who: 125 beautiful Zetas, their handsome dates, & our advisor Tonya Neaves

A good time was had by all!

Merry & Bright
