Acting I: Actor’s ToolboxThis acting class will provide students with the tools they need for a strong foundation in acting. We’ll learn the “rules” of the stage as well as how to develop characters, improvise, and work with other actors in scenes. In this small class you’ll get focused feedback as you work with your peers on acting exercises and scenes.

Page to StageBooks are often the inspiration for popular film and stage adaptations. Using the students’ favorite books as inspiration we’ll write our own literary play. We’ll write the script, use acting technique to bring the characters off the page, and create an original performance.

Musical Theater DanceIf you want to spend more time in musical theater, dance training is a must! Students will learn dance technique with a focus on vocabulary, timing and style. Students will learn dances to several Broadway musicals, and have the chance to improvise and choreograph.

VocaleaseSinging skills are essential to young performers interested in musical theater. Designed for students who want to study voice but are not ready to commit to private singing lessons, this small class is perfect for the aspiring per-former. Students will study musical terms and singing techniques and explore their voices through group songs and solos from Broadway and movie musicals.

Character Development and D&D

Go on an epic quest while strengthening your acting skills in this remote drama class that pairs drama with the collaborative fantasy storytelling game Dungeons and Dragons. Using the D&D model, you’ll create a hero with a backstory. Then your drama instructor will guide you on how to bring that character to life using acting techniques, improv skills, and game play. Finally, we’ll put our new skills to the test as we play a virtual game of Dungeons and Dragons together.

Jukebox Musical

A Jukebox Musical uses popular songs we already know rather than an original score. Using the students’ favorite songs as inspiration we’ll write our own Jukebox musical. We’ll choose a song list, create a story and characters to go around the songs, and use acting, singing, and dancing skills to bring the new musical to life!
