Registration and Rule PacketWelcome to Blue Sky Sports Center, the state of the art indoor and outdoor soccer complex. The following is important information you and your team members need to know. Please take the time to read this entire document and make sure your team members do as well.

FAMILY… FUN… FITNESS… Blue Sky Sports Center is a very family and sportsmanship oriented facility. We would like to encourage players, coaches and spectators to act in the same way. Below are some tips to help us keep that atmosphere:

Remember – It’s just a game

If you notice your teammate becoming overly excited or aggressive don’t wait for the referee to intervene – help your teammate get a perspective so things don’t escalate.

During a blow out, try scoring in alphabetical order by using “three touches” or by a header. You will become a better team and the game will be more enjoyable for everyone involved.

Help your team stay focused on the game instead of the referee.

It is the responsibility of the coach or captain to advise players and spectators of rules, regulations, procedures, schedule changes and game times. You are also responsible for the conduct of your players and your spectators

Page 2: FAMILY… FUN… FITNESS… - Blue Sky Sports Center · Web viewYou will become a better team and the game will be more enjoyable for everyone involved. Help your team stay focused

BEHAVIOR OF PLAYERS:Blue Sky can take independent action against a player for any conduct which is abusive, threatening, disruptive or which would constitute a penalty in the game of soccer, including but not limited to racial slurs and foul language. Such action may include probation, suspension, permanent prohibition against playing at any Blue Sky facility, monetary fine or other appropriate action at the discretion of Blue Sky. Players must abide by all rules of conduct including but not limited to no weapons allowed on the premises, no alcohol or illegal drugs brought on the premises, no being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

BEHAVIOR OF SPECTATORS:Blue Sky can take independent action against any spectator for any conduct which is abusive, threatening or disruptive including but not limited to racial slurs and foul language. Such action may include probation, suspension, permanent prohibition against playing at any Blue Sky facility, monetary fine or other appropriate action at the discretion of Blue Sky. Spectators must abide by all rules of conduct including but not limited to no weapons allowed on the premises, no being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

DEPOSITS: Returning teams are encouraged to register for the following season by the third game of the current season to avoid losing their spot in their league if they plan on returning. Leagues will fill on a first come first serve basis.

Team deposits are due at time of registration. Teams can register after the deadline but only on a space available basis.

A returning team's deposit (meaning a team that is playing the current season and coming back for the upcoming season) will be $75.

A new team's deposit (meaning a team that is not playing the current season) will be $150.

Deposits and team payments are non-refundable except when a division does not form.

If a team decides not to play, regardless of whether the season has begun or not, a refund will not be given.

An informational e-mail will be sent to all team captains before the season begins with a link to the schedules. This link will take you to our website.

Page 3: FAMILY… FUN… FITNESS… - Blue Sky Sports Center · Web viewYou will become a better team and the game will be more enjoyable for everyone involved. Help your team stay focused

ROSTERS & LEAGUE FEES:Rosters are final at the end of the 4th game. Either a paper roster or an online DASH roster will be used as your final roster for the season. After the 4th game no player can be added to any roster.

IT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF BLUE SKY to maintain a roster for ANY team or to make certain that all players on their roster are legal players. That is the responsibility of the CAPTAIN / CO-CAPTAIN / MANAGER of the team.

A player MUST play in AT LEAST ONE regular season game to be eligible to play in the playoffs / championship game(s).

Teams have 2 games to get all of their team fees paid. 1/2 of their fees must be paid the first game of the season. 1/2 of their fees must be paid the second game of the season. A game will not be allowed to start until the appropriate amount has been paid.

RESCHEDULES:It is Blue Sky’s policy that we do not reschedule games. However, we do understand there are times that a team may need a game rescheduled. If a team wants to reschedule a game, then the reschedule will depend on the following:

1. Blue Sky determining if a reschedule can/should happen.2. Field Availability3. The opposing team agreeing to the reschedule4. The opposing team agreeing to the available time/date of the reschedule.

ID CARDS: Everyone entering the player’s box must have a Blue Sky Sports Center Player ID card.

Coaches must fill out a background check form, pay $15 for the background check and pass the background check to obtain a Blue Sky Sports Center coaching card.

A maximum of two coaches will be allowed on the player’s bench during games and both must have a Blue Sky Sports Center coaching card.

All players must hand their own player ID card to the referee at the start of the game.

Youth ID cards cannot be given to the referee in a stack or on a ring of any kind.

Using another player’s ID card to play is an automatic red card offense and will be submitted to management for the appropriate suspension and fine.

Page 4: FAMILY… FUN… FITNESS… - Blue Sky Sports Center · Web viewYou will become a better team and the game will be more enjoyable for everyone involved. Help your team stay focused

If a player forgets their player ID card they will have to purchase a temporary card – good for that one day – to be allowed to play.

If a player loses their player ID card they will have to purchase a replacement card – good through the expiration date on the original card – to be allowed to play.

Every league age U5 (Junior Kicks) and older requires every player to have a non-expired Blue Sky player ID card to play.

FORMATION OF TEAMS:You may choose any player to lay on your team as long as they are the appropriate age. Blue Sky Sports Center will go by the age chart posted on our website under the Forms link. Rosters are limited to 18 players on the main field and to 10 on the junior field.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS ON THE FIELD U7 through U10 – 8v8 (7 field players and a keeper)

DIVISION RESTRICTIONS:Players may not play on multiple teams in the SAME division. In other words, a player cannot play on one team in Mens Open A League and play on another team in Mens Open A League.

Players may not play in a top division and also the bottom division in the same category unless there are only two divisions in that category. In other words, a player can play down one level.

OVER 30 AGE RESTRICTIONS: A team in an Over 30 division may have up to 2 players (but not more than 2) younger than 30 years of age but not younger than 27 years of age ON THEIR ROSTER. A person’s age is determined at the start of the season, not what age they may end up being at the end of the season.

OVER 40 AGE RESTRICTIONS: A team in an Over 40 division may have up to 2 players (but not more than 2) younger than 40 years of age but not younger than 37 years of age ON THEIR ROSTER. A person’s age is determined at the start of the season, not what age they may end up being at the end of the season.

NOTE: Some of our facilities also allow 2 players younger than 37 but not younger than 35 on an Over 40 team. Check with your facility.

PLAYING UP:A youth player may play up 2 years from their actual age group when playing on the main field.

A person who is 17 years old is allowed to play in an adult league ONLY by having their parents come to the facility with the child and signing a waiver allowing that child to play up. A proper form of identification validating the child’s age must be provided (i.e. Driver’s license, passport, birth certificate, etc).

MISCONDUCT:Any player, coach or spectator may be ejected from the building if any Blue Sky staff member or referee believes that person is being disruptive or threatening in any manner.

Page 6: FAMILY… FUN… FITNESS… - Blue Sky Sports Center · Web viewYou will become a better team and the game will be more enjoyable for everyone involved. Help your team stay focused

LEAGUE STANDINGS:Standings are based on the following point system:

- 3 points for a win- 1 point for a tie- 0 points for a loss

TIEBREAKERS:Tiebreakers to determine playoff positions at the end of the season are determined by the following criteria if teams are tied in points:

0 Head to Head against the team you are tied with1 Overall Goal Differential2 Overall Goals For3 Overall Goals Against4 Coin Flip

NOTE: The standings software used by Blue Sky Sports Center CANNOT determine head to head competition. Therefore, your team may be listed in 1st place but in fact really isn’t in 1st place at all because of head to head competition. SO DO NOT ASSUME! If you are not CERTAIN, call your facility to find out!

FORFEITS:Teams will receive a 5 minute grace period after scheduled game before receiving a forfeit. As soon as a team has enough players to play, the game will begin. When a forfeit occurs, the opposing team will be awarded a 3-0 win and given 3 points. The team that forfeits will be given a loss and 0 points.

NOTE: The maximum number of players needed to avoid a forfeit is as follows:

U5U6 through Adult – 2 less than the maximum number required on the field.

Adult Coed – Goalie and 4 field players. One field player MUST be a female.

Page 7: FAMILY… FUN… FITNESS… - Blue Sky Sports Center · Web viewYou will become a better team and the game will be more enjoyable for everyone involved. Help your team stay focused

FORFEIT NOTIFICATION:While we don’t have a forfeit fee in place, we do request that if your team has to forfeit a game that you try to give at least 24 hours notice to the facility as a courtesy so that the other team can be notified.

If a team habitually forfeits games (at least 2 or more games a season), then we will require a $20 forfeit fee to be paid before their next game can begin.

FORFEITS & PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITYCheck with your facility as some facilities have a rule in place that if a team forfeits a regular season game they automatically cannot play in the Championship game for their league.

FIGHTING:Fighting of ANY kind is NOT allowed!

Anyone involved in a fight can be red carded by the referee and/or suspended with a fine by the facility.

Any player leaving the bench to join in any altercation, regardless of attempting to break up the altercation or participating in the altercation, will be red carded by the referee and / or suspended with a fine by the facility.

Any player who receives a red card is required to leave the facility and the premises. Failure to do so can result in the police being summoned to escort the player away.

Page 8: FAMILY… FUN… FITNESS… - Blue Sky Sports Center · Web viewYou will become a better team and the game will be more enjoyable for everyone involved. Help your team stay focused

Any player who receives a red card during a game or even after the game has completed will be required to leave the facility and the premises. The player’s ID card will be confiscated and given to the referee issuing the red card.

If a player receives 3 red cards for violent conduct in a 12 month period at any Blue Sky Sports Center, they will be suspended from playing for a period of not less than1 year at any Blue Sky Sports Center.

The following table lists standard red card infractions that a player or a coach can be issued. The standard suspension length and fine are listed also. Circumstances of each red card will be taken into consideration when assessing a suspension and fine.

CHAMPIONSHIP RULES The clock will stop during the last 2 minutes of each half on dead balls EXCEPT FOR FOULS).

If the game is tied at the end of regulation, the clock will be set to 4:00 minutes, giving teams 1 minute to rest before starting the overtime period.

The 3 minute overtime is NOT golden goal. The entire 3 minutes will be played.

If the game is still tied after the 3 minute overtime period then dribble up shootouts will occur.

DRIBBLE UP SHOOTOUT OVERTIME RULES Each team must choose 5 players for the shootout. These 5 players DO NOT have to have been on the field at the time of the 3 minute overtime. It can be anyone on the team.

Coed games MUST be 3 women and 2 men and the first shooter is a woman, the second shooter is a man, the third is a woman, etc.

Women will score 1 point on a shootout goal just like men.

The clock will be set to 5 seconds for each dribble up.

When the referee blows the whistle for the dribble up, the player has the full 5 seconds to shoot so they may shoot multiple times during that 5 seconds.

The clock will not stop until the 5 seconds has run out.

If the game is still tied after the 5 players for both teams have taken their dribble up, then each team must pick one player to shoot.

If both players score, then each team must pick one player to shoot. This continues until one player scores and the other one doesn’t meaning the game is over.

On Coed, since a girl is the first shooter in the first round, then a guy will shoot first in the second round.

TINY KICKS (2 YR OLD) LEAGUE RULES: There are 5 players on the field at one time for this age group.

One parent per child is allowed on the field during a game but we request by the 2nd and definitely the 3rd game that the parents have either removed themselves from the field or are standing up against the wall away from the playing field.

The coach will be on the field with the players in this league.

Each game is made up of four 6 minute quarters with a minute break in between.

This league is for kids to begin to learn to play together, using one ball and learning to run and kick the ball into the goal.

A size 3 ball will be used.

Score is not kept in this league.

Emphasis is on fun!

Parents, coaches and spectators should be encouraging to the kids on the field and shouldn’t yell in a loud voice. Yelling scares this age group and may cause them to not want to participate.

If a player is placed directly in front of the goal inside the crease for no other purpose than to play “goalie”, then the coach will be given a warning initially and will be instructed to move the player out of that position. No score will be kept in Junior Kicks.

This league will play with a size 3 ball.

Adult 3v3 League Rules

There will be 3 players on the field at one time with no goalie.

No player may enter the crease to play the ball.

Entering the crease means actually stepping into the crease onto the turf.

If a player enters the crease and touches the ball with any part of their body it is a violation.

If a defensive player has either foot standing inside the crease and touches the ball then it will be a penalty kick from mid-field for the offensive team. Defensive players will line up on the center line inside the center circle and offensive players will line up on the center line outside the center circle. The player taking the penalty kick will line up on the arc of the center circle closest to the goal they are shooting on. Once the referee blows the whistle that player can kick the ball. It must be touched by another player before that player can touch it again (to avoid the two touch violation).

If an offensive player has either foot standing inside the crease and touches the ball then it will be a free kick from the top of the crease for the defensive team.

A goal cannot be scored from outside the yellow line unless it is kicked off the side wall and goes into the goal.

Free substitution is allowed at any time.

Although cards aren't typically given for foul play or dissent, the referee has the authority to remove a player from the game if necessary.

Red cards can be issued if the situation warrants it.

There is no out of bounds unless the ball leaves the field of play.
