PROCLAIM THE TRUTH OF FATIMA AND THE FAITH!

    by Coralie Graham, Editor

When Christ resurrectedinto Heaven, He did not leaveus destitute – He sent us theHoly Ghost (See page 35). And

when God took Father Grunerto his eternal rest, he, also, didnot leave us destitute. He left usthe truth of Fatima and our Faith

in all his teachings and writingsand speeches.

This  Fatima Crusader  isnot unlike all those that FatherGruner inspired while he wasstill with us in body.

He left us with a wealth of wisdom, understanding andinspiration to pass on to youunder the same strong leadershipand Directorship that supportedFather Gruner all these years. And the same worldwide expertson Fatima and the Faith willcontinue updating you with the

things you need to know – what’sgoing on in the world, what’sgoing on in the Church, andthe consolation and inspiration

you need to hold onto the Faith“whole and entire.”

    Don’t Give Up!

At our “Only the Pope CanSave Washington” conference inWashington, D.C., we had beengiven a prime position in front ofthe Capitol – wherein the Popeand political leaders could not

    avoid seeing Our Lady’s statue

and World Peace banners. At thelast minute we were moved to asite – two blocks away – where we could not even see the Capitoland perhaps, by “political ploy”nor would the Pope or Presidentbe able to see FATIMA!

     A gentleman at the conference

asked me, “Did that make youlose confidence? My reply:“Absolutely NOT!” Undaunted,

we pressed on, knowing withfaith: “Now we’re on OurLady’s plan – this should be veryinteresting!” And it was.

We were moved to plot 13(Fatima’s number) and it wasthe most beautiful site in theentire area – with a beautiful

water fountain in a floweredpark-like setting. And becauseof this location, we were able toproceed through the streets of

Washington, holding Our Ladyhigh in all Her glory as Sheshowered Her Maternal blessingson the passersby and made Herurgent Message known widerand wider. She turned Herrejection from the Capitol intoa joyous and blessed event.

Have faith in Jesus and Mary.Their plan always outshines ourown. Your perceived falters maybe the sacrifice Heaven is askingfor to save more souls!|

    “THE MESSAGE OF FATIMA

    IMPOSES AN OBLIGATION

    ON THE CHURCH”

by Father Nicholas Gruner, S.T.L., S.T.D. (Cand.), R.I.P.

Sister Lucy was questioned, why Our Lord would notconvert Russia or bring about

world peace except through theConsecration of Russia.

She asked this of Jesus andHe replied:

“Because I want My whole Church to recognizethat Consecration as atriumph of the ImmaculateHeart of Mary, so thatlater on, My Church will

extend the devotion tothe Immaculate Heart andplace Her devotion besidedevotion to My SacredHeart.”

Sister Lucy, responding tothis, tells us:

“That is why God insists. Thisis the way, and the only  way, andnothing else will work.”

Now, if I could relive the last34 years of my life over again and

do something else, I might say, “I wish there was another answer.”But there isn’t. This is the only

way. This is the Will of God andHe is not changing His mind.

The thoughts of His Heartare to all generations. Our Lord’sHeart is not just a symbol, butactually is full of love and, ofcourse, His greatest love is forHis Mother. She is greater thanall the saints and we’ve hadsome very great saints, but She

is greater than all of them. Heloves Her more, not just becauseShe is His Mother, but becauseShe is the holiest creature thatever was made or will be made.

And He wants Her to be exalted.

So there we have it. Where

does this leave the Church? There are those who hold thatthe Church has no obligationregarding Fatima; that it issimply a private revelation and

Following is an excerpt of an address given by Father Gruner at Our

Lady’s Army of Advocates Conference at Chicago, IIlinois in November

2014. When one speaks the truth, their words are timeless – as you

will see in this excerpt of one of the last speeches Father Gruner gave

before going to his eternal reward.

if the Pope wants to ignore it hecan perfectly well do so. And ifthe bishops want to ignore it,they, also, can perfectly well do

so. And so can all the priests andeverybody else if they want to.

That is the theory; that is thethesis; that is the understandingof most people today. But,unfortunately, that theory iscompletely wrong and may leadmillions of souls into hell!

    The Obligation to Believe

How can we be so sure aboutthat? We can base that on severalthings. First of all, before we getto the obligation to obey, let’sget to the obligation to believe.

Philosophy is the study of finalthings in the light of reason alone without the benefit of revelation. The philosophy that deals with

what we are all obliged to do iscalled ethics in its classic term.

    Even by simple ethics, we

can prove the obligation tobelieve Fatima – even withoutquoting Scripture once. Very simply, we have theobligation to believe our fellowmen. First of all, man has beenmade to live in community. Thatis, we live, we depend on each

other. Some are good typistsand others are good thinkers or

writers or whatever else we do.None of us has enough talentand ability to live without the

help of someone else. God madeus that way. We are dependenton our fellow men, all of us are,for different things – things that

we are not good at. And so, even in the Church,

God has made us that way.Certainly, the Pope and bishopsand the priests have gifts andauthority that others do nothave. But the Pope and bishopsand priests also need the helpof others. That is the way Godintended it – that we live incommunity, that we dependupon each other. Therefore, inorder for us to live in community

we must, first of all, be able tobelieve a reasonable person

when he tells us somethingreasonable and we have nocounter indication to think thatthere is something wrong with

     what he says.

If we weren’t bound to believeour fellow man of goodwill, then

we couldn’t live in society. It’sas fundamental as that. And sothere is no real reason for notbelieving the 70,000 witnessesthat they really saw the miracleson October 13th. There is noreal reason for not believing theapproval of seven popes that the

Message of Fatima is worthy ofbelief. There is no real reasonfor refusing to accept what thechildren of Fatima told us.

And so, as such, we arebound to believe them juston the natural human levelalone. We could develop that

further. I wrote a thesis forphilosophy on that basis alone. But there is much more than

just philosophy or ethics toprove the obligation to believe. What I mentioned is: first of all, there are those who think that,“Well, if it is not an Article of

Faith, I have no obligation tobelieve whatsoever”, and thatis a completely false conceptionof our obligation to live in this

     world.

Everything is not revealedin the Scriptures, but we have

obligations that are taught. AsSaint Paul tells us in Romans,

we have obligations which theNatural Law itself tells us. Now we do know that God has alsoreinforced the Natural Law byrevealing much of it, if not allof it, in Sacred Scripture. Butthe fact is, we are also bound bythe Natural Law itself, whetheror not it’s in the Bible or intradition.

We are also bound by theNatural Law and believing ourfellow men is part of the Natural

Law. We don’t have to believeeverybody all the time, but wedo have to believe reasonably, our fellow men. That’s anobligation and it can be a serious

obligation, depending on whatit is. We either believe or don’tbelieve them. If it’s somethingnot important, there may be

some slight sin in not believingthem; but if it is somethingreally important and we have noreason to doubt it, then, to refuseto believe is also a sin, even onthe natural level.

    “Do Not Despise Prophecy”

The next thing is, on the basisof Scripture, we have variouspassages which no one woulddispute. I think the first passage

you will find is in the book of theFirst Letter of Saint Paul to theThessalonians, Chapter 5, verse

19, in which he says: “Do not extinguish the spirit,

do not despise prophecy, but testall things and hold fast to that which is good.”

The first thing he says is, “donot extinguish the spirit.” The

Holy Spirit can and does speak toevery generation with propheticmessages.

Saint Thomas Aquinas, thegreatest theologian, tells usthat every generation receivesprophecies from the Holy Spirit.

If we start off with theassumption that God cansend a prophet and give us amessage and we don’t have tobelieve it, we’re already going

  • 8/18/2019 Fatima Crusader 113

    7/64

    The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015 7

against Scripture because thatfundamental attitude is despisingprophecy; it’s extinguishing theHoly Spirit. We are forbidden to

do that in the Bible itself. That’snot the only passage – you willfind it’s in Colossians and it’s afamous quote that the Churchis “built upon the foundation ofthe apostles and the prophets.”

Now regarding those whointerpret the word “prophets”as being the prophets of the OldTestament, it’s not incorrectto believe that because theprophets of the Old Testamenthave a lot to tell us – even today.

There’s another interpretationof that passage which means that

the Church is built upon theprophets of the New Testament. We have learned that there is ahierarchy, and God has certainlymade a hierarchy. There is a popeand the bishops and the priests. The Council of Trent defines that

all three of them are membersof the hierarchy, obviously inlimited and various degrees.

    The Gift of Prophecy

But besides the hierarchy, there is also the charism, orthe gift, of prophecy. And

that charism also is what theChurch is built upon, not justthe hierarchy. The Church isbuilt upon the charism or thefoundation of the apostles with

Christ Jesus, Himself, the chiefcornerstone. Built upon thatis the apostles as well as theprophets, and in that analogy

the foundation stone is what youbuild upon; then the apostles arethe next foundational stone andafter that are the prophets.

So what is the relationshipbetween the prophets ofthe New Testament and theapostles? Again, you go backto Thessalonians, Chapter 5,

verse 19, and he tells us: “Donot despise prophecy, do notextinguish the spirit, but testall things”. So it’s the role of thehierarchy to test the prophet; tosee if the prophet, indeed, comes

from God.Not all people who claim to

have the gift of prophecy areprophets. That is why we don’tpromote apparitions which arenot approved by the Church – notbecause they all are ipso facto

false, but because we do not havethe time or maybe the ability orboth to actually examine everyone and test them.

The Church has tested Fatima. The Church has said that Fatimais worthy of belief. That is why

we promote that Fatima hasbeen tested. But also, we havethe command of God throughSaint Paul, telling us to hold fastto that.

  • 8/18/2019 Fatima Crusader 113

    8/64

     8 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

It’s the role of the hierarchyto test the prophet – in thiscase, FATIMA. It’s been foundby the hierarchy to be good, and

therefore we are bound to holdfast to it, and for that matter,so are the Pope and the bishopsbound to hold fast to it.

So then, are we trying to saythat Sister Lucy, for example, ismore important than the Pope, orthat she can command the Pope? The answer is very simple. No,she does not command the Pope.Rather, God uses the prophet, inthis case Sister Lucy, to transmita message and she transmittedthe message faithfully.

    We Owe Obedienceto God First

The hierarchy is to judge whether this message comesfrom God or not, and havingdone so, the hierarchy is boundto obey – not the prophet, but God, Whom they havedetermined had spoken throughthe prophet.

All obedience is given to God.If we must obey the policeman or

we must obey the Pope, if theyhave jurisdiction in a matter

where they tell us to do things,

then we’re bound to obey – notas obeying man, but as obeyingGod, Who speaks through, oruses these persons, to tell us

     what we must do.

The hierarchy – that is,the Pope and the bishops andthe priests and everyone else, including the laypeople – have

to obey too. The Consecrationof Russia is a command of God.Our Lord came to Sister Lucyagain in 1931, after the formalrequest made before the MostBlessed Trinity commanding theConsecration of Russia.

    A Heaven-sentCommand Ignored

Jesus commanded that thePope command the bishopsto consecrate Russia in union

     with him. He expressed Hisunhappiness:

“Make it known to Myministers, given they followthe example of the Kingof France in delaying theexecution of My command, like him they will followhim into misfortune.”

Our Lord says that the King

of France was punished; he wasbeheaded; he was killed as acriminal. Why? For one reason– because he did not obey intime the command to consecrateFrance to the Sacred Heart.

    Now there may be those

who say: “Well, that’s too bad,he didn’t know he had to obey;he didn’t have to obey; he wasgiven a message through a saint

     who wasn’t canonized then.”

    The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015 9

Saint MargaretMary certainlyhad a reputationin her lifetime as

a saint. There wasnothing contrary tothe faith or moralsin the message;nothing contraryto right reason forthat matter.

To them, France was in its glory daysand Louis XIV wasthe most powerfuland, shall we say,the most gloriousof the French kingsin his power and

so they did notlisten. 100 yearslater, as we know, the French king was stripped ofhis power by theMasonic infiltrationof his country andthe lodges tookaway the king’s right to ruleand make legislation – causingthe French Revolution. I thinkthat historians would agreetoday that it was all the work ofMasonry.

It is interesting how Our Lordmakes that same reference whenHe tells us that what happened tothe kings of France – by the sameenemies – will happen to the

Pope and the bishops. Today, ofcourse, they don’t see it, but thesigns are there if you’re willingto look at them. My point here isthat Our Lord, Himself, says thatthey will be punished; that they

will follow the King of Franceinto misfortune for one reason– for not obeying His command.

    Obviously, He impliesthat they are obliged to obey;

John Vennari, Master of Ceremonies at all of our FatimaCenter conferences, has been of tremendous assistance toFather Gruner over these many years. Above, he opens upthe conference session: “Tribute to Father Gruner” (Session13). You will not want to miss this. See pages 53 and 63 to

otherwise it would be wrongfor Him to punish them forsomething they are not obligedto do. And when I say them, I

think we’re all included because,at some point, we either haven’tprayed enough or sacrificedenough or told our friends andneighbors, or done what wecould to make it understood.

And if that is true for us, it’smuch more true for many others

who falsify the message, whoclaim to be devoted to Our Ladyof Fatima. Whether they see thator not, God knows, but that’s

     what they are doing.

    The Obligation To Believe Fatima

Is Based on ScriptureSo this obligation then is

not just based on reason, it’salso based on the Scripture;it’s also based on a furtherargument which I’ve given and

which no one has answeredme yet. There are theologians– whether conservative orliberal, whether left or right –

who will disagree with whatI’ve said. There are those whoeven have the reputation ofbeing ultraconservative – who

     would think I’m wrong, but

the argument goes somethinglike this. There are two kindsof revelations. There are publicrevelations which were closedat the death of the last apostle

and there are private revelations which you are not bound tobelieve.

    There are theologians today

    – among them, Bishop Graber,a theologian in his own right– who have pointed out thatthese are not the only kinds ofrevelations. There is also a publicprophetic revelation. That is, notin Scripture, not in the Depositof Faith, but, nevertheless, isbinding because it’s not simplya private revelation. A privaterevelation, strictly speaking, isfor a person, a private person.

God Endorsed FatimaThrough the Miracle of the Sun

You have the Miracle of theSun before 70,000 people.

You have Our Lady telling Herskeptics that if they don’t believe,to come on such and such a dateat such and such a time and She

would prove to them that God isbehind this message. She laiddown the challenge and all ofus have the obligation to seekthe truth.

We are told in 2 Thessalonians,Chapter 2, that the antichristcomes because Catholics havelost the love for truth.

It is a fundamental attitude toseek the truth, to love the truth,to defend the truth. And, as such, we all have the obligation to seek

  • 8/18/2019 Fatima Crusader 113

    11/64

    The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015 11

the truth. Here we have a publicprophetic revelation given to the whole world with these witnesses, and yet some would say, “I don’t

have to believe it,” and closetheir mind and go on with theirbusiness. It cannot possibly bethat they have no obligation justbecause they say, “I refuse tolook, I refuse to see, I refuse toknow.” That is not characterizedby love for the truth. The largest

opponent to Fatima is exactlycharacterized by that.

Father Dhanis, a Jesuit priest, made a whole life career ofdebunking Fatima by refusingto look at the evidence. In the1940s, during the Second World

War, there were some people who took liberties with the textof Our Lady’s message – thesecond part of the Secret – andchanged Her words. That wasa big disservice. According tothem, they didn’t want to hurtthe war effort and, therefore, they took out the word Russiafrom Our Lady’s words: “Russia will spread her errors.”

Now it was evident to a manlike Dhanis that something had tobe done to the text so that beforethe end of the war, he could say

he did a service by pointing outthat they had doctored the text. But when the war was over, it

was offered to him to comeand read the original text, to

come and interview Sister Lucyhimself; but he refused to lookat the evidence. He is not muchbetter than any other people who

refuse to look at the evidenceof Fatima. They say, “Well, youknow, I don’t have to believe it.”

You Cannot Deny the EvidenceIn Support of Fatima

Well, if you looked at theevidence you would be forced

to believe it; if you refuse tolook at the evidence, you arenot thereby off the hook. SaintThomas Aquinas proves in hisSumma Theologica  that justbecause you keep yourself inignorance, that is not an excuse

for you being in ignorance, thatand your ignorance will notexcuse you on Judgment Daybecause you refused to learnthe truth. He says, in fact, that your guilt is greater because yourefused to learn the truth.

And so this obligation is real.I would be happy to debateanyone, and there are plenty ofthem out there who think that we’re completely wrong in this. But this point is fundamental. The excuse that the Churchhas been hiding behind for the

last 50 years for not doing theconsecration is that they don’tthink they have the obligation, and that is so patently false.

     12 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

The obligation to believe andto obey is based, of course, onreason, on Sacred Scripture, and on the fact that Fatima

is an established fact of suchmagnitude.

It is a fulfillment of biblicalprophecy when you see that we’ve had 14,400 wars in 6,000 years of recorded history, and yetOur Lady of Fatima promises to

stop that. The only place that ispredicted besides Fatima is inSacred Scripture where we aretold: “They will learn the artof war no more.” That has nothappened from the time thatIsaiah and Micheas made theseprophecies – to the present day.

Our Lady says that time is now.The significance of Fatima is

a milestone in human historybeyond anything. It’s muchmore important than VaticanII or World War II or anythingelse, other than the life of Christ,

Himself. It is a milestone in thehistory of mankind.

Our Time of MercyIs Running Out

Do What You Can – Now!

This generation has notrecognized it and we will pay

the price for it – not just the Popeand the bishops. It’s up to eachof us to do our part to make itknown, to make it understood, and to live Fatima by praying

five decades of the Rosary and wearing the Brown Scapular. Our Lady held out the Scapularfor all of us to wear. You know,

these things look very small, butthese things are very great inGod’s eyes.

We must do what we can with what God gives us to our hand. That is all He asks us to do. ButHe also asks us to understandthese things and to encourageothers to give them moreimportance. Saint Augustinesaid: “Being a Christian, I rejoice

with you. Being a bishop, Itremble – the responsibility Ihave is much greater.” He verymuch appreciated the help

that he got from priests and laypeople to fulfill his job. I’m sureall good bishops would feel thesame way. That is why we mustnot forget to pray and sacrificefor all good bishops and priestsand especially for the Pope;that he will receive the gracesnecessary to fulfill the missiongiven him by Our Lady of Fatima– to consecrate Russia to HerImmaculate Heart. God bless

     you and thank you.|

    An Indisputable Historic Fact:

THE MIRACLE OF THE SUN AT FATIMA

    by Peter Chojnowski, Ph.D.

Masonic Press Testifiesto Truth of Miracle

    When looking for reliable

sources concerning historicalevents, it is always best toconsult those who have no“bias” or “vested interest” inthe events. If they testify to thetruth of the historical claim, theclaim is bolstered immeasurably. If, however, the witnesses are

professionally hostile and yettestify to the truth of the claimsof their opponents, the testimonyis of incalculable worth. We havethis kind of testimony in theaccount of Avelino de Almeida, the Editor-in-Chief of O Seculo,

a liberal, anti-clerical, andMasonic daily paper in Lisbon.Mr. de Almeida was actually a witness to the events at the Covada Iria.

To this testimony of theanti-Catholics, we add the

testimony of the Church. Theofficial investigation into themiracle itself began in November1917. Monsignor Vidal, who

     was directing the diocese of

Lisbon, instructed the parishpriest to launch an immediateinvestigation into the case.

So the Church, from thebeginning, was investigatingthe claims and interviewingthe witnesses. This investigationcame to fruition when Bishopda Silva of Fatima officiallyapproved the apparition as

worthy of belief. This could nothave been difficult, since, unlikemost historical events, the eventson October 13th at Fatima hadinnumerable witnesses, whosetestimonies agree, and who haveleft innumerable documents.

    These innumerable accounts

of the events that October day were meticulously documentedfrom the beginning until ourown time. These accounts of theevents came out in the decades

when eyewitnesses were stillalive, leaving open the possibility

that the accounts could berefuted by the eyewitnesses. They could have objected whenthe reports came out, but noone did. In fact, on the 60th

anniversary of the Miracle ofthe Sun, there were some 30eyewitnesses who could stilltestify to the events on that day.

What also adds to the veracityof the claims concerning theMiracle of the Sun is the fact thatthe miracle itself was witnessedby some 70,000 people that day.Their testimony is unanimous. However, who were these

witnesses, other than ourMasonic newspaperman, Avelinode Almeida? Were there onlyPortuguese Catholic peasants

     who attended this anticipatedmiracle?

The answer here is, of course,no. The Portuguese historian,

Leopoldo Nuñes, who waspresent on the scene on October13th, says: “At the moment ofthe great Miracle there werepresent some of the mostillustrious men of letters, in thearts and the sciences, and almost

all were unbelievers coming outof curiosity, led by the predictionof the seers. Even the Ministerof Education of the Masonicgovernment was there.”

So, many of the anti-Catholics who were perpetrated to havenot been present at the miracleswere, in fact, present at Fatima atthe moment of the Miracle. Here we have Our Lady, at the requestof Lucy, who sought to prove

the authenticity of Her FatimaMessage to the unbelievers.

Again, we return to theaccount of the miraculous

events on the day of the 13thgiven us by Avelino de Almeida, the self-professed anti-Catholic

witness. It is worth noting thatthe editors of the other anti-clerical newspapers attacked de

Almeida for his report. But evenin the face of such criticism byhis comrades he did not retreatfrom his testimony. In fact, 15days after his original accountof the Miracle, he publishedanother story about the events, this time illustrating it with 12pictures taken of the crowd in

the midst of the Miracle of theSun. Throughout this article, de

Almeida just kept repeating, “Isaw it … I saw it … I saw it.”

    Testimony ofDr. Almeida Garrett

Let us follow the account of Avelino de Almeida, adding toit that of another eyewitness,Dr. Almeida Garrett, professorof the Faculty of Sciences at theUniversity of Coimbra, obtainedby Fr. Formigao.

    The story for de Almeida

begins on October 12th, 1917, when he arrives at Fatima to“see” the non-fulfillment of theprophecy of a miracle. Here, theunbeliever — who was obviously

continue the second part inchorus. They move rhythmicallyand rapidly in order to reachthe place of the apparitions bynightfall. Here, under the starsthey will sleep, keeping the firstand best places near the littletree.”

What a moving account. Hemust have been profoundlymoved by what he saw. We canonly wonder about his attitude.Perhaps it was one of pity for

what he thought were thepathetic hopes of the people.

The whole night it rained. This was a change in the weatherfrom what had occurred earlierin the autumn season. It wasas if Our Lady was perfectly

stage managing the scene toemphasize the Miracle. The raintransformed the dusty roads intomuddy quagmires. What does

de Almeida say concerning theresponse of the people to theseadverse conditions? “They didnot lose hope and they did notforget the cause for which theycame.”

The day of October 13tharrived. De Almeida continues:“By 10 o’clock the sky wascompletely hidden behind theclouds and the rain began tofall in earnest. Swept by thestrong wind and beating uponthe faces of the people, it soakedthe pilgrims, often without

protection against the weather,to the marrow of their bones …But no one complained or turnedback … Hours of waiting …Thegreat mass of people congregateround the oak tree which, according to the children, is OurLady’s pedestal.”

What amazes us aboutthe Miracle of the Sun is thespecificity of Our Lady, just asGod Himself is so specific inall that He does. God does notmerely create, sustain, or guide“the general.” Our Lady said in

July of 1917 that She wouldperform a miracle at middayon the 13th of October. But it

was after noon, how can wesay that Our Lady’s promise

was being fulfilled? Here itis necessary to say that thePortuguese government, dueto its belligerency with France

and Britain during World WarI, decided that the clocks wereto be set 90 minutes ahead sothat Portugal would be in thesame time zone as her fellowbelligerents. On October 13,1917, 1:30 p.m. was actuallymidday, sun time.

The hour of the miracleapproached. The presence ofthe seers is announced shortlybefore the scheduled time ofthe apparition and miracle; theyarrive about one-half hour early. The little girls Jacinta and Lucy,

crowned with flowers, are ledto the place where the platformhas been erected. When Lucyasks them – no, orders them –to shut their umbrellas in thedrenching rain, something thatgoes against intuition, the orderis transmitted and executed rightaway without resistance. Thenthey wait. What if there was noMiracle? But there was.

Near the time of 1:30 p.m., apriest, who stood by the childrenand had been waiting since theprevious evening, began to grow

impatient. “Look, its middaynow. Our Lady does not lie.Well, well.” After a few minutes

with nothing happening exceptthe rain pouring down on the

uncovered thousands, the priestagain looked at his watch andsaid: “Look, its midday now. OurLady doesn’t lie. It’s past midday.

You see it’s all a delusion. Runalong all of you. Go away. It’s adelusion.”

In response to this skepticismand doubt, Lucy refused to go. It

was midday, so the priest beganto push the three children awayfrom the site. Then the simplefaith of Lucy took over. Shebegan to cry and said: “If anyone

wants to go, I shall stay where Iam. Our Lady said She wouldcome. She came the other timesand She will come this time too.”

     At that moment Lucy looked

to the east and said to Jacinta:“Jacinta, kneel down. Our Ladyis coming. I saw the lightning.”

According to Sister Lucy’saccount, the impatient priestdid not say another word and thechildren never saw him again.

It was at this moment that theMiracle commenced. Here are thestages of the Miracle of the Sun:

    The Rain Stops

What is truly amazing aboutthis Miracle is that Our Ladyperfectly “stage managed”

the entire event. Each aspectof the miracle was directedto accentuate the miraculousnature of the phenomenon. Dr. Almeida Garrett reports, “The

     18 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

sky, which had been overcastall day, suddenly clears up; therain stops and it looks like thesun is about to fill with light

the countryside that the wintrymorning had made so gloomy.”This sudden change of weathersurprised all of the witnesses.

Dr. Pereira Gens simplyreports, “The rain suddenlystopped”; it “suddenly stopped,”of course, at the exact moment which had been predicted for theMiracle to take place.

    The Vision of the Sun

Why “the vision of thesun”? Because at this moment, contrary to the normal

phenomenon, everyone – andthis is a unanimous testimony

without contradiction – couldlook at the sun clearly, directly, and without wincing or closingtheir eyes. No one needed to turnaway.

This is what the editor ofO Seculo  says: “Then theysaw a unique spectacle, [an]unbelievable spectacle foranyone who did not witness it.From the road … one could seethe immense multitude turntowards the sun, which appeared

free from clouds and in itszenith. It resembles a dull silverdisc, and it is possible to look atit without the least discomfort.”

Dr. Garrett, however, had thisobservation: “I … saw it [thesun] as a disc with a clean cutrim, luminous and shining, but

which did not hurt the eyes. I donot agree with the comparison which I have heard made inFatima — that of a dull silver disc.It was a clearer, richer, brightercolor, having something of theluster of a pearl … I felt it to bea living body … It looked like a

glazed wheel made of motherof pearl … It was a remarkablefact that one could fix one’s eyeson this brazier of light and heat

without any pain in the eyes orblinding of the retina.”

    The Dance of the Sun

One would think that this would be enough, being able tolook at the sun without havingto turn away, but Our Lady

wanted to demonstrate Herpower in a more convincing

way. So this sun that all the

witnesses could observe withoutirritation “danced.” This wascalled by many of the commonfolk present, “The Dance ofthe Sun.” De Almeida saysconcerning this “dance”: “Thesun trembled, the sun made

sudden incredible movementsoutside all cosmic laws — thesun ‘danced’ according to thetypical expression of the people. It shook and trembled; it seemed

    19/64

    The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015 19

    like a wheel of fire.”

Dr. Garrett adds: “The sun’sdisc did not remain immobile. This was not the sparkling of a

heavenly body for it spun roundupon itself, it made a whirl.”

Also, “It spun like a firewheel, taking on all the colors of therainbow … It looked like a ballof snow, revolving upon itself.”

     According to Ti Marto, the

father of Jacinta and Francisco,“At a certain moment the sunseemed to stop and then beganto move and dance … However, the sun stops, only to begin itsstrange dance all over again aftera brief interruption, whirlingupon itself, giving the impression

of approaching or receding.”This “dance,” which was seenby the 70,000 witnesses, wasactually repeated three timesduring the course of the 10minute long miracle.

All the Colors of the Rainbow

With the Dance of the Sunsomething else began to happen. The landscape, and everythingin it, began to take on, insuccession, all the colors of therainbow. Dr. Garrett testifies:“During the solar phenomenon

… there were changes of colorin the atmosphere … I lookedfirst at the nearest objects andthen extended my glance furtherafield as far as the horizon, I saw

everything an amethyst color.Objects around me, the sky andthe atmosphere, were of thesame color … Soon I heard a

peasant who was near me shoutout in tones of stupefaction:‘Look, that Lady is all yellow!’

And, in fact, everything bothnear and far had changed to

yellow. People looked as if they were suffering jaundice … Myown hand was of the same color.”

The exact same report comesfrom another witness, Mariado Carmo: “The sun took onall the colors of the rainbow.Everything took on the samecolors: our faces, our clothes, the earth itself.”

    The Falling of the Sun

Now we come to a part ofthe Miracle that made manyof those present on the sceneof the Cova da Iria believe thatthe world was ending — such

was the fearsomeness of theexperience. This was clearlyOur Lady’s warning that theMessage of Fatima was not onlya “message,” but, also, a verygrave warning.

What happened at thatstage of the miracle is called

the “falling” of the sun. “Thensuddenly, one heard a clamor,a cry of anguish breaking fromall the people. The sun, whirling

     wildly, seemed to loosen itself

  • 8/18/2019 Fatima Crusader 113

    20/64

     20 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

from the firmament and advancethreateningly upon the earthas if to crush us with its hugeand fiery weight. The sensation

    during these moments wereterrible.”

Again, “The sun began tomove and dance until it seemedthat it was being detached fromthe sky and was falling on us.It was a terrible moment!” “It

seemed like a wheel of fire that was about to fall on the people.”

Alfredo de Silva Santosreports: “The sun began tomove and at a certain momentappeared to be detached fromthe sky and about to hurtle uponus like a wheel of flame.”

Even though many thousands were expecting imminent deathand were making their finalpreparations for that event, themiracle was not the end, buta warning and an indicationof the mercy of God and the

intercessory power of theMother of God — because thesun returned to the heavens.

    Everybody’s Clothes Were Dry

Then the final Miracle, the last manifestation of theintimate knowledge and lovethat God and His BlessedMother have for mankind andfor the pious faithful. FatherLourenço: “This enormous

multitude was drenched, for ithad rained unceasingly sincedawn. But – though this mayappear incredible – after the

great miracle everyone feltcomfortable, and found hisgarments quite dry, a subject ofgeneral wonder … The truth ofthis fact has been guaranteed

with the greatest sincerity bydozens and dozens of persons ofabsolute trustworthiness, whom

I have known intimately fromchildhood, and who are still alive[in 1937].”

We have it from Dr. PereiraGens that: “I still remember thedelicious sensation that this warm caress of the sun gave me

… I [felt] my clothes almost drynow, although they were all weta few moments ago.”

    HOW SIX POPES FAILED

    TO RELEASE THE 3RD SECRET

    by John Salza, J.D.

    T

he title of my talk is“How Six Popes Failed toRelease the Third Secret

of Fatima.” In this talk, I amgoing to present the historicalevidence, based on irrefutablefacts and incontrovertibletestimony, which gives us amoral certainty that there is ahidden text of the Third Secret

of Fatima currently suppressedby the Vatican. For moreinformation, please see my newbook, A Catechism on Fatima at

     www.johnsalza.com

What Is the Third Secret ofFatima?

The Third Secret of Fatima isthe last part of the message OurLady gave the children on July 13,1917. The Secret consists of twoparts: (1)  Lucia’s description of a vision of the execution of aPope, bishops, clergy and other

faithful by soldiers outside a cityin ruins, and (2)  Our Lady’s words explaining the vision andother matters concerning theChurch and the world (including

a prophecy of apostasy in theChurch beginning just after themiddle of the 20th Century), which begins with the phrase “InPortugal the dogma of the Faith

     will always be preserved…”

What Is the Evidence of TwoSeparate Texts?

    The evidence that I will

present demonstrates that Luciarecorded Our Lady’s words ina letter to her bishop, and the

vision on notebook paper notaddressed to anyone. Lucia’sletter to her bishop containingOur Lady’s actual, verbalized

     words consists of about 25

lines, while the vision releasedby the Vatican is 62 lines; theletter was written on a singlesheet of paper, separate fromthe notebook paper Lucia usedto write the vision.

The letter was written on (or

shortly before) January 9, 1944(while the vision was written onJanuary 3, 1944).

Both documents wereplaced in separately sealedenvelopes, each containingOur Lady’s “express order”

that both documents were tobe made public in 1960. Theenvelope containing the letter

was delivered to the Vaticanon April 16, 1957 (while theenvelope containing the vision

was delivered on April 4, 1957).The letter was stored in the papal

apartment in a writing deskcalled “Barbarigo” (while the

vision was stored in the Secret Archives of the Holy Office).

The record also shows thatPopes John XXIII, Paul VI andJohn Paul II read the Third

Secret on two different dates, indicating two different texts. As

we will see, John XXIII read twotexts; one (the letter) around

August 20, 1959 and the other(the vision) in 1960. Paul VI readalso two texts; one (the letter) onJune 27, 1963 and the other (the

vision) on March 27, 1965. JohnPaul II also read two texts; one(the letter) in October 1978 andthe other (the vision) on July18, 1981.

[After Mr. Salza proved theforegoing facts in great detail,

he went on to address the part ofthe Third Secret released by the

Vatican in 2000, of the “Bishopdressed in White”.]

What Is the Vision of the“Bishop Dressed in White”?

As mentioned, the Vaticanfinally released the text of

the vision on June 26, 2000(40 years late) along withcommentary in a documentcalled The Message of Fatima, butstill has not released the letter,

     which remains “hidden.”

    With the June 2000 release,

we learn that part of the ThirdSecret reveals a frightening, material chastisement involvinga Pope, along with othermembers of the Church, being

viciously executed by soldiersusing bullets and arrows in acity in ruins and littered with

corpses. Because there has beenno such public execution of aPope and other faithful to date, this prophecy remains for thefuture.

Lucia’s descriptions in the vision are quite curious, and

may suggest the presence oftwo “Bishops dressed in White”in the Vatican during theexecution, which we currentlyhave with Pope Francis and PopeEmeritus Benedict (and whichis a completely unprecedentedsituation in Church history).I actually mentioned thispossibility in my talk in Romein 2012, the year before Benedict

     XVI announced his resignation.

  • 8/18/2019 Fatima Crusader 113

    24/64

    24 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

After describing an image“similar to how people appearin front of a mirror,” Lucia seesa “Bishop dressed in White” who

gave the children the “impression that it was the Holy Father.”Why would Lucia say she hadan image and the “impression”he was the Holy Father if he werereally the Pope?

Is this “Bishop dressed inWhite” the same person as the“Holy Father” who is “killed bya group of soldiers” with bulletsand arrows later in the vision?Or is Lucia making a distinctionbetween the true Pope and ananti-pope?

    Given the public challenges

to the validity of the Bergoglioelection, does this Pope/anti-pope scenario actually existtoday? Could the “Bishopdressed in White” be PopeEmeritus Benedict, who stillgives the “impression” of the

Holy Father? Or is it Francis, the “Bishop of Rome”? Or, is itanother Pope (or bishop) in thefuture? And is the “big city halfin ruins” Rome (the “cork tree”being indigenous to Rome)?

We will never know until theChurch releases the hidden text,or the prophesied chastisementsmaterialize, God forbid, for thePope’s failure to consecrateRussia.

How did the VaticanInterpret the Vision In ItsJune 26, 2000 Document,

    The Message of Fatima?

In a way that is contraryto reason. In the June 2000document, Cardinal Sodanoand Archbishop Bertone attemptto divest Fatima of any futureprophetic realities and consignit to the past. How exactly? Byactually suggesting that theprophetic vision Our Lady gave in1917 (of the execution of a Popeand other faithful by soldiers

with bullets and arrows in a cityin ruins) was fulfilled in Mehmet

Ali Agca’s failed assassinationattempt of John Paul II on May

13, 1981. The obvious problems with the Vatican interpretationare as follows:

    1) John Paul II was not killed;

    2) John Paul II was not at thetop of a mountain at the foot ofa cross when he was shot;

    3) no one else in St. Peter’sSquare was shot at, much lesskilled, that day;

    4) Ali Agca was not a soldier;

    5) Ali Agca was a lonegunman;

    6) Ali Agca did not use arrowsin addition to bullets; and,

    7) Rome was not a city inruins.

  • 8/18/2019 Fatima Crusader 113

    25/64

    The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015 25

The problems with thisinterpretation are obvious andnumerous, which is why Mother

     Angelica of the Eternal Word

Television Network (EWTN)critiqued the Vatican documentby saying “we didn’t get the

     whole thing.”1

Moreover, the prophetictrajectory of the Vatican’s“attempted interpretation”does not make sense. Our Ladytakes us from a terrifying visionof hell where demons torturethe souls of the damned, tospecific warnings about themost violent and death-filledCentury in world history thattook over 200 million lives…to

a botched assassination attempton a Pope who spent severalmonths in the hospital, only toresume an active and productivelife (living another 24 years),even returning to the ski slopes?2

As deplorable as it was, this

attempted homicide on a Popecould hardly be the “culminating”event of the bloodiest century in

world history, the 20th Century.It doesn’t add up.

What other problems arethere with the Vatican’s 2000

interpretation of the vision? There are many other

substantive problems with theinterpretation. For example, why

     would the Vatican wait almost

20 years, until the year 2000,to reveal a prophecy that wasallegedly fulfilled in 1981? Infact, Cardinal Oddi reported in

Il Sabato magazine on October17, 1990 that Lucia met withJohn Paul II in May 1982 andit was decided that the vision

would not be released because itmight be “misinterpreted.” But ifthe prophetic vision was alreadyfulfilled in 1981, then the vision

could not be “misinterpreted” in1982 or any other time due to itsfulfillment.

Further, if the Third Secretprophecy was fulfilled in 1981,then John Paul II would not haveneeded to do a consecration in

1984 to prevent the conditionalchastisement from occurring;it would have already occurredin 1981.

Finally, on April 19, 2000,John Paul II wrote a letter toLucia (a copy of which was

included in the June 26, 2000document) in which he says heis sending Bertone to Lucia “toask certain questions about theinterpretation ‘of the Third Partof the Secret’” to help preparefor the release of the Vaticandocument.

But if the 1981 assassinationattempt was the fulfillment of“the third part of the secret”and the secret is now “part of

  • 8/18/2019 Fatima Crusader 113

    26/64

    26 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

the past,” then one must ask whyJohn Paul II still had questionsabout the interpretation in the year 2000.

Is the Vatican’s “assassinationattempt” interpretation of thevision binding upon Catholics?

No. According to the FifthLateran Council, the Popealone has the authority to givea binding interpretation on

prophecy, and Pope John PaulII provided no interpretationof the vision in the June 26,2000 document. Rather, thedocument was issued by twoCardinals and an Archbishopand concedes it is only an“attempted” interpretation ofthe prophecies.

Cardinal Ratzinger, whoprovides the “theologicalcommentary” on the vision, prefaces his written analysisby saying “Before attempting an interpretation…” and

“Before undertaking  aninterpretation…”, finallydescribing his efforts as “Anattempt to interpret the ‘secret’of Fatima.” At the June 26, 2000press conference, Ratzinger alsosaid, “It is not the intention of

the Church to impose a singleinterpretation.”3 Ratzingeralso makes it clear that the“attempted” interpretationis that of Cardinal Sodano,

and not the Pope’s. Of course, Vatican officials, who have noauthority to interpret prophecy, cannot bind us to “attempted

interpretations” that they admitare not binding.

The Third Secret, the Upcoming Synod, and

    Apostasy in the Church

Why the cover-up? Because,as I will demonstrate in my next

talk, the Third Secret warnsof apostasy in the Church, beginning with the Church’shighest leaders (the Pope andbishops). This apostasy, nodoubt formally triggered by Vatican II, is coming to a headunder the reign of Pope Francisand, in particular, with his so-called Synod on the Family.

While Vatican II createdprimarily a doctrinal crisis in theChurch, the Synod could createa moral crisis of unprecedentedproportions, if the traditional

doctrine of marriage isundermined, and sodomites andfornicators are admitted to HolyCommunion, thereby unleashingunthinkable sacrilege against theBlessed Sacrament. While manyof the bishops are steeped in

Modernism, it would appear thata good share of them will drawa line in the sand on traditionalCatholic morality. We can onlyhope and pray that is the case,

    The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015 27

and thanks be to God for those who will.

Unfortunately, only afew bishops, like the great

     Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre,

responded to the doctrinalcrisis caused by Vatican II andthe New Mass. Almost all therest of the bishops caved in. Butit seems that God is going to givethe bishops one more chance,to stand up for Catholic Truth, this time to defend Our Lord’s

teaching on marriage and thefamily. As we approach the100th Anniversary of Fatima, the results of this Synod may bethe final test that God will useto sift the wheat from the chaffbefore He punishes the world

with the chastisement revealedin the Third Secret – unless thePope prevents the chastisement with the Consecration of Russia.

No matter what happens, however, no matter what thePope decides, we need to remain

with Jesus and Mary, and withthe Tradition of the Church sothat, as St. Vincent said, we can

“never be led astray by any lyingnovelty.” Our Lady of Fatima,

    pray for us!

    THE MOMENTARY TRIUMPH

    OF CHRIST’S ENEMIES

Would Anyone Regard This as Our Lady’s Triumph?

    by John Vennari

It is astounding that manyCatholics – including those

who represent variousFatima Apostolates – actuallypropound the idea that PopeJohn Paul II’s 1984 consecrationof the world fulfilled Our Lady’srequest to consecrate Russia,

even though “Russia” was notmentioned, and the bishops ofthe world did not participate.

Even more astonishing: manyCatholics have lost the sense ofthe Faith so severely, they fail tosee that we live not in a period

that in any way resembles thetriumph of the Immaculate Heartof Mary. Rather, we live in anage that reflects the momentarytriumph of Our Lord’s enemies.

We will take a quicklook at the plans for the de-

Christianization of society, laidout by Freemasonry in the 19thCentury, by Communism in the1950s, and again by Communistsin the United States in the early

1990s. It is clear that Satan’splan is now in ascendance.

“Let us popularize viceamongst the multitude…”.

In his 1884 encyclical againstFreemasonry, Humanum Genus,Pope Leo XIII warned that the

Secret Societies strive to corruptmorals in society, since theman who is morally weakened will more readily come underthe influence of their godlessprinciples.

After speaking of stage plays, books and pamphlets thatare “remarkable for license”(which would be consideredtame compared to today),Pope Leo warned: “For, sincegenerally no one is accustomedto obey crafty and clever men sosubmissively as those whose soul

is weakened and broken down bythe domination of the passions, there have been in the sect ofthe Freemasons some who haveplainly determined and proposed

that the blood of the martyrs wasthe seed of Christians. Let us,then, not make martyrs, but letus popularize vice amongst themultitude. Let us cause them todraw it in by their five senses; todrink it in, to be saturated with

it … Make vicious hearts and you will have no more Catholics … It is corruption en masse that we have undertaken.”4

    Is Communist Goals

    to Subvert Us

    We see Communism

announced similar aims. In 1958,former FBI agent Leon Skousendocumented 45 Communistgoals to subvert America from

within. They are detailed in his

    book, The Naked Communist.

Here are five of these goals:

    • Goal 24: Eliminate all lawsgoverning obscenity by callingthem “censorship” and a

     violation of free speech;

    • Goal 25: Break down culturalstandards of morality bypromoting pornography andobscenity in books, magazines,motion pictures, radio and TV;

    •Goal 16: Present homosexu-ality, degeneracy and promis-cuity as “normal, natural,healthy”;

    • Goal 27:  Infiltrate theChurches and replace revealedreligion with “social” religion.

Discredit the Bible…;• Goal 40: Discredit the family

as an institution. Encouragepromiscuity and easy divorce.

Each of these goals listedby Mr. Skousen, consideredunthinkable in the America of

1958, are not only accomplishedin the United States, but areprincipal components in today’spop-culture, as purveyed byHollywood, rock and roll, MTV,Internet and countless othermedia.5

Now, to take this up to thepresent: we see the forces oforganized naturalism, the forceof secularism, and yes, even theforces of the Communist spirit at

work in our nation to this day.

    1992: Communist Party USA

    There is a fascinating

documentary released a few years back called Grinding America Down by former IdahoRepresentative Curtis Brown.

In the beginning of thedocumentary, Rep. Browntells the story of when he wasa graduate student in 1992,a writer-acquaintance askedBrown to attend a weekendmeeting for him with theCommunist Party USA. Themeeting was held at BerkeleyUniversity. Here, Brown sawthe Communists propounding

a strategy for further subversionof America from within.

    • To break down thefamily – the Communists urgedpromotion of co-habitation(living together out of wedlock)and the Feminist Movement;

    • To destroy our cultureand religion – the Communistsencouraged promotion ofhomosexuality;

    • “To destroy business” –Brown relates, the Communistsin 1992 said “they wanted to

get behind the environmentalmovement, as they saw it as theonly vehicle capable of creatingenough regulation and red tapeto discourage business growth.”

Brown said that when he was at this 1992 meeting, hethought to himself: this plan is

so radical, I’m probably not going

to have to worry about it in mylifetime. But around 2006 or so,he remembered the 1992 event, and was stunned to realize thatevery goal the Communists hadset at that meeting was fulfilledin the United States.

In the same documentary, former White House StaffEconomic Advisor Jim Simpsonnoted, “Patrick Moore, who

was a co-founder of GreenPeace, and he was a verydedicated environmentalist, quitGreenpeace when he realized

that it had been captured byradical leftists who were intenton using the environmentalmovement as a vehicle to destroycapitalism.”

This is why manyenvironmentalists have been

called Watermelons: green onthe outside, red on the inside.

It is no surprise that BarackObama pushes, as much as heis able, the environmentalistagenda, as well as homosexualityand feminism.

Even more disturbing, however, is that certain membersof the present-day Vatican,in their Modernist thrust toallegedly “dialogue” with the

world, give the appearanceof espousing the same evilspromoted by the enemies ofChrist.

Documents emanatingfrom Synod 2014, as well asthe prepatory documents forthe 2015 Synod, unbelievableas it sounds, say we shouldlook for ‘positive elements’of co-habitation.6 The 2014

Synod mid-term documentspoke of the ‘positive aspects’of homosexuality.7  We seeCardinals speaking of the alleged‘positive aspects’ of ‘stable’homosexual relationships.8 These same men who propoundthese scandalous proposals

maintain their influence ofpower in the 2015 Synod nowunderway.

And sad to say, the push forenvironmentalism in the presentpontificate not only reflects theplan called for by the enemies of

Christ and Christian civilization, but also has nothing to do withthe competence and duties ofthe papal office. What we have inthis case is religion at the serviceof humanity, religion at theservice of ecology. It is a man-centered disorientation caused

by a reckless sentimentality, andby the spirit of Modernism.

We live in the world nowdominated by the spirit of

Antichrist, as clearly laid outin the documented plans ofFreemasonry and Communism. We have become so used to

this unprecedented level ofcorruption, however, manyCatholics believe the 1984Consecration fulfilled therequirements of Our Lady, and we are now, somehow, living through the beginningof the Triumph of Our Lady’s

Immaculate Heart. This isludicrous, and demonstratesthat too many of us havebecome tone-deaf to the musicof Catholic Truth.

The Consecration of Portugaland of Russia

To help keep our balance, let us recall the miraculousconversion of Portugal thatoccurred after the Portuguesebishops consecrated Portugal tothe Immaculate Heart in 1931(and again in 1938). Portugal,

which had been living underthe anti-clerical persecution ofMasonic forces, was given – asa result of the bishops’ specificconsecration of that nation – thegrace of a three-fold miracle:

    1) A Magnificent Catholic

    Renaissance,   a greatrebirth of Catholic life;

    2) The Miracle of SocialReform  according toTraditional Catholic social

    32/64

    32 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

teaching based on thesocial Kingship of Christand not insipid “dialogue

     with the world.”

    3) The Miracle of Peace: Portugal was spared thehorrors of the SpanishCivil War that was ragingright next door; andPortugal was then sparedthe ravages of World WarII.9

This threefold miracle givesthe blueprint for us to judge

whether or not the consecrationof Russia has been properlyaccomplished. As noted, wedo not see the structure of

     what happened in Portugal

anywhere on earth. Rather, wesee the present-day fulfillmentof the plan of the serpent, asmanifested in the writings ofCommunism and Freemasonry.

Yet the threefold miracle, similar to what took place

in Portugal, is what we willsee for the whole world. This

was affirmed by the eminentPatriarch of Lisbon, CardinalCerejeira, who in 1942 said that

what took place in Portugal inthe 1930s and 40s is a sample – apreview – of what Our Lady hasprepared for the whole world

when Russia is consecrated tothe Immaculate Heart of Mary.

“What has taken place inPortugal proclaims the miracle,”said Cardinal Cerejeira, “andit foreshadows what the

Immaculate Heart of Mary has prepared for the world.”  10

Finally, once again, we recallthat the promise of Our Lady ofFatima is the conversion of Russiato the Catholic Faith, and not amere political conversion. Thisconversion has yet to take place, and hence the Consecration hasnot yet been properly enacted.

I close by quoting on this pointFather Joaquin Alonso, probablythe top Fatima expert of the20th Century. Father Alonso,

     who had many interviews with

Sister Lucy, wrote in 1976: “... we should affirm that Luciaalways understood that the‘conversion’ of Russia is not tobe limited to the return of theRussian People to the OrthodoxChristian religions, rejecting the

Marxist atheism of the Soviets, but rather, it refers purely, plainly and simply to the total, integral conversion of Russia tothe one true Church of Christ, the Catholic Church.” 11

from the correct teaching found even in

the New Catechism, which is nowherefound in the Synod documents: “Sacred

as acts of grave depravity (cf. Gn. 19:1-

    that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically

disordered.’ They are contrary to natural

law. They close the sexual act to the gift

    GIFTSOF

    THE

    HOLY

    GHOST

By the Holy Sacramentof Confirmation, we receive

the Seven Gifts of the HolyGhost – Fortitude, Wisdom,Counsel, Knowledge, Piety,Understanding and Fear of theLord. Especially during this timeof crisis, we need to draw uponthese virtues to strengthen us

and assist us as we go forward todefend Our Lady of Fatima andthe One, True, Holy, CatholicFaith.

The Holy Spirit is the Spiritof Force. He inspires courageand heroic endurance into Hisdevout clients. This action of

His was made manifest at thebeginning of the Church’s career.

On the morning of Pentecost, the timorous apostles were

transformed into the fearlesschampions of the faith. Not

only was darkness dispelled from their minds, fear wasalso dispelled from theirhearts. They found themselvesemboldened to risk persecutionand death in the establishmentof the Kingdom of Christ. The

Holy Spirit exhorts them to that

enterprise: so too He heartensthe individual Christian toestablish the reign of God inhis soul.

It is the specific work ofthe Spirit of Jesus to form theChristian to be a Christian.

Christ, when leaving His Apostles, told them that they would not be deprived of aguide. Another would succeedHim, to lead them heavenwards.

     36 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

Their orphan state would end with the coming of that other.History reveals how this promiseof Christ has been verified.

The Apostles were changedmen after Pentecost. All thetruth of Christ, henceforth, came from them without erroror without hesitation.

But it was not only to themthat Christ’s promise wasmade. It was given in a certainproportion to all the faithful ofall times. The action of the HolyGhost is revealed in that quasi-instinctive knowledge of theprofound truths of supernaturalreligion which is discernible inthose Christians who strive to

shape their lives after Christ’steaching. Their enlightenmentand their understanding oftranscendental truths are thebewilderment and the envy ofthose who are wise only withthe wisdom of this earth.

Man’s life is rightly lived when

it bears him on undeviatingly tothe Beatific Vision. The virtue ofPrudence is needed to regulatelife in this sense. The Spiritof Jesus infuses the virtue ofPrudence into the activitiesof the whole Mystical Body ofChrist and into each member of

    that Body.

The Christian will order theaffairs of his life, even in theirtemporal aspect, aright when

he wills to submit himself to theguidance of the Holy Spirit.

The path through life ofthe follower of Christ is a path

plentifully strewn with trials andsorrows. Grief weighs down thesoul at times and paralyzes itsenergies. It needs strengtheningif it is not to shrivel up in the firesof tribulation. Human sympathyis powerless to minister thisinner strength and comfort. It

can be imparted only by God.The Divine Saviour sent

His Holy Spirit to sustain andcomfort the Christian in histrials. The Paraclete means one who comforts. The Holy Ghostis the love of God personified.

That love of God has all thegentleness and understandingof maternal affection. It comesnatural, therefore, to the ThirdPerson of the Blessed Trinity tocherish, to encourage and to giveconsolation to those of God’schildren who are fainting by the

way, under a burden of grief. We are wise when we turn to

the Holy Ghost in all the issues oflife, temporal as well as spiritual. Our recourse to Him should notbe occasional and particular:it should be continual and inregard of all necessities.

Pray daily to the Holy Ghost,an often forgotten but essentialdevotion.

    TESTIMONIAL

    TO FATHER GRUNER

    by Miriam Gruner

Thank you all for comingto this conference. This

is the first conference theFatima Center has had sincethe death of my uncle, FatherGruner. He was very muchlooking forward to havingthis conference in Washington

while the Holy Father was hereand we are very pleased that

we are able to fulfill his wishes. It is really hard to believe thatit has already been almost fivemonths since Father passedaway.

I know many of us believethat Father must be in Heaven.

A few years ago, I attended afuneral Mass at which the priest

told everyone that we need notpray for the soul of the deceased

but that we should pray to herbecause the priest was sureshe was in Heaven. When Imentioned this to Father Gruner,he became very animated andtold me that when he died, he

wanted me to try my best toensure that no one said such

things about him. He said, “Makesure they pray for me and offerMasses”.

I have been deeply movedby the many prayers, Rosaries,Masses and sacrifices that manyof you and others have offered

for Father. There have beenso many, I cannot keep track.I suspect he is very pleased. Ialso know he would want meto thank you and ask you, in your charity, to keep the prayerscoming.

Father Gruner touched thelives of many but only since hisdeath have I started to becomeaware of just how many peoplehe affected and just how deeply

    he affected them.

At the wake for Father held inBuffalo, I met a woman and herson who had travelled by bus for

a total of 15 hours to and fromNew York City just to be at the

wake for two hours. The FatimaCenter received hundreds ofletters, some from people whohad known Father for decadesand others from people who

had never met him but wouldhave dearly loved to do so.The consistent theme that ranthrough the many testimoniesI heard and read was thatFather changed people’s livesby strengthening their Faith inOur Lord and His Holy Catholic

Church and by impressing uponthem the need to heed themessage of Our Lady of Fatima.

At the same time as I heardand read such testimonies, I wastrying to discern how much timeto devote to The Fatima Center.

I must confess a certain senseof fear and despair crept intomy thoughts. After all, Father

was gone and no one canreplace him. Plus, if I got moreinvolved in Our Lady’s work,I was likely to attract more ofthe devil’s attention, which I

certainly didn’t want or need. I was tempted not to get involved.

But then I thought, I wouldbe dishonoring all that Father

had worked so hard for, all hehad given his life for, if I didn’tget involved as much as myduties as wife and mother would

allow. Father often reminded usthat, as bad as things may get, we have Our Lady of Fatima’sassurance that Her ImmaculateHeart will triumph, we have theScripture’s assurance that OurLady will crush the devil’s head,so there is nothing to fear. And

I was strengthened by all of themessages of the support that TheFatima Center was receiving. One person wrote that Father’sdeath “leaves us with a profounddetermination and drive to keepthe work moving forward and

[proclaiming the message]louder than ever before”.

We meet here in Washingtonat a time of a deep and profoundcrisis in the world. The war inSyria and the Ukraine, a refugeeand illegal immigration crisis, a$19 trillion American nationaldebt, an aggressive Russia andChina, the scourge of ISIS, thesatanic harvesting of fetal bodyparts by Planned Parenthood, the highest court in the landruling in favour of homosexualmarriage, and an ever coarsening

and anti-Christian culture allcompete for headlines. Morethan that, I know I’m not alonein the feeling that this is justthe beginning, that things will

  • 8/18/2019 Fatima Crusader 113

    The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015 39

most certainly get worse, thatsomething wicked comes this way.

Along with the crisis in the

world, there is a profound crisisin the Church. Sister Lucy ofFatima said that the final battlebetween Our Lord and Satan willbe over marriage and the family. It is ominous that next month’sSynod at the Vatican threatensCatholic teaching and practiceon marriage and the family.

On Thursday [September24], the Holy Father will addressa joint session of Congress. Inhis speech, the Pope may welltouch on some of the issuesthat bedevil the people of the

United States and world. Hemay even propose certain ideasto address those issues. FatherGruner wanted us to be here this

week because we know that onlyone idea will work. We knowthat only Mary can help us. We

know that the crisis in the worldand the Church is too far gonefor human solutions. We knowthat the only thing that will turnthe tide against Satan and hislegions is the Consecration ofRussia to the Immaculate Heartof Mary.

Over the next three days we will proclaim that message herein this hall. May we all derivemany graces from the Masses

that will be celebrated hereand many insights and muchinspiration from the talks to begiven by our excellent speakers.

And when this conference endsand we return to our homes, communities and parishes, may we keep up the fight, by prayingour daily Rosary, carrying outour duties of state to the bestof our abilities, fulfilling theFive First Saturdays devotion –

first for ourselves and then forothers – and by constant prayerand sacrifices for our loved ones, the Holy Father, the Church andthe world.

Father Gruner is no longerhere to lead us. But he taught

us the crucial truths we needto save our soul and the soulsof others. In human terms, wehave no chance – we are fewin number and the forces ofdarkness arrayed against us areoverwhelming. But because wehave Our Lady and Her BlessedSon on our side, our ultimate victory is assured. May all of ustogether continue Father’s workuntil the Consecration of Russiaand the Triumph of Our Lady’sImmaculate Heart.

    Thank you for your support

and your prayers. May God blessus all.|

    NEW LIGHT ON THE

    CONSECRATION OF RUSSIA

    by Suzanne Pearson

    O

ur Lady chose Russia fora very special task. Once

it is consecrated to HerImmaculate Heart, She will useRussia to bless all other nations, bringing peace to the whole

world. Why She chose Russiaas Her instrument is a designlocked in the Heart of God.

Churchmen find reasons notto consecrate Russia. But whynot just try it? Why is there somuch resistance to just tryingit? There would be such greatbenefits! Our Lady promisespeace to the whole world! Peace!Doesn’t everyone long for peace?

My only conclusion is thatsome people actually opposethese great benefits. Everyonemay want peace, but not onOur Lady’s terms. Peace meansdifferent things to differentpeople. The Communists used

to say that peace will come whenall the world is Communist. Allreal enemies of the Church wantpeace on their own terms, not onOur Lady’s. Others want peace,

but not yet.... or peace, but notuntil …

If we look at history, menhave always wanted peace, butnations, or their leaders, havebeen willing to sacrifice peace,at least for a time, in order togain objectives they consideredimportant enough. Warring

nations would not sign peacetreaties before gaining certainborders, certain hegemony, certain trade concessions, orother objectives. They never

wanted to get locked into asituation that, with a little morefighting, they might be able to

    change.

Peace implies stability. Noone wants to stabilize a statusquo that is not in their favor. This applies a priori to therevolutionaries, who havealways claimed that, in order to

advance their goals, they dependon instability, on constantupheaval.

Another reason people mighthesitate to accept Our Lady’s

peace plan is the fear of returningto a Catholic world. Spoiled bythe greater freedom offered byliberalism, some might dreadthe thought of regressing to a

world of obedience, sacrifice, expiation, and self-control.

This does not apply only toenemies of the Church. Eachone of us must ask himself: To what degree have I accepted thenew way? For some of us, it mightbe the relaxation of the rules offasting that we appreciate; forothers it might be the more

permissive dress code, or thegreater opportunities for women. Some might see a certain valuein the Church’s greater openingto the world, on a cultural or

political level. To say nothingof easier annulments or moreoptions in family planning. Howmuch of all this would still remainin Our Lady’s converted world?

Those who spend yearsobstructing the Consecration

of Russia just don’t believe inFatima, at least not in all of it.Or do they? Are we really dealing with a lack of Faith? What I seeis rather a gnawing suspicionthat maybe it is true, maybeHoly Mary really does have thepower to actually bring about

what She promises. For enemiesof the Church, this possibilityis terrifying. The devil is not anatheist. He and his minions alsobelieve, and tremble.

      42 The Fatima Crusader | Winter 2015

The Vatican today iscontrolled by those who eitheroppose the Consecration ofRussia or are directed by unseen

    supporters or benefactors,possibly even blackmailers,

whom they believe they cannotcross. When we encounter aniron wall at the Vatican, it mayreally be a paralysis of fear. So

     what can we do?

    The Need for Consecration

I think we have to face thefact that those fighting furiouslyagainst the Consecration ofRussia are hardened enemies. They are not going to be wonover by more education. They

are not going to be convincedby explanations, intellectualarguments, or crystal-clearproofs. They are working forthe other side. They need to beconverted or they need to beoutsmarted. Of course, we wanttheir conversion. But until theyconvert, we must outsmart them.We must seize opportunities to

     work around them.

We know that Our Lordrewards halfway measures, like the consecrations of the

     world performed by Popes Pius

XII and John Paul II. I wouldlike to suggest a differenthalfway measure, based on

what happened in Portugal inthe 1930s. On May 13, 1931,

Cardinal Cerejeira, Archbishopof Lisbon, together with allhis bishops, in the presence of300,000 pilgrims, solemnly

consecrated Portugal to theImmaculate Heart of Mary. What followed has been calledthe Miracle of Portugal. Catholiclife flourished as never before.

Vocations absolutely exploded. After decades of Masonic control, the new civil government wasthe most Catholic administrationin Europe. Even Pope Pius

XI marveled at Portugal’sremarkable transformation andcredited it to Our Lady of Fatima.

The most astounding partof the Portuguese miracle was

the Miracle of Peace. Whilethe Spanish Civil War ragedall along its borders, Portugalremained untouched. CardinalCerejeira and the bishops ofPortugal renewed their nationalConsecration to the Immaculate

Heart of Mary on May 13, 1938,in fulfillment of a solemn vowthey had taken two years earlierto return and give thanks to theMost Holy Virgin, Mother ofGod, in the name of the wholenation, if She obtained forPortugal victory over atheis
