Volunteers are needed for Little Hands on the Farm at the Iowa State Fair. The pro-gram provides children ages 2 to 10 the chance to get involved with agriculture as farmers on this mock farm. They plant and harvest products, earn money at the market for their work, and then buy food at the grocery store. Little Hands on the Farm is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and would need to be staffed from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Each day is di-vided into three shifts. Volunteers would receive one admission ticket, one vehicle permit and a Little Hands on the Farm volunteer t-shirt. Contact Emily Brewer; [email protected]; Iowa State Fair; 515/262-3111 ext. 244 to sign up for a shift.

ANIMAL ID LIMITS

Below are numbers from the State 4-H Office about the number of animals you may ID in 4-H Online. Remember,

sponsibility of the member to log into 4-H Online to verify that all information is correct for State Fair animals. Infor-

mation that is not verified by the member will be locked and will not be able to be changed after May 15.

Dairy, dairy goats, breeding meat goats, horses and dogs that were ID’d last year may be re-entered with the click of a

Click “Edit” to the right of the member listed. You will then be sent to that member’s Personal Information Screen.

On this screen, click on the box that says Animals/Livestock and go to your animal ID screen.

If you identified any dairy cattle, dairy

goats, horses, breeding meat goats or dogs

last year, those animals will be listed at the

bottom of the animal list screen and may be

reactivated.

"It was really inspiring to see how involved the kids would be trying to learn how to fly a plane on the flight simulator we had. They had such a sense of wonder and curiosity that is just heartwarming." The Northeast Iowa Family STEM Festival is a collaborative partnership between NICC, Winneshiek County Development, Inc., Keystone Area Education Agency, Iowa Works, Upper Explorerland Regional Council of Governments, Iowa State Extension and Outreach, the Northeast Iowa Business Network and the Northeast Iowa Regional STEM Hub at the University of Northern Iowa.
