Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it" (Malachi 3:10). First Baptist Church has certainly experienced a 'season of blessing' and 2013 pro- duced some numbers that give tangible evidence of financial blessings. So many of our members find real joy in giving to the Lord's work. First, we exceeded our goals on all of our 2013 mission offerings highlighted by Lottie Moon offerings of $98,053 - eclipsing our goal of $80,000. For the year 2013, your faithful giving totaled $2,572,682, or $74,251 more than our budget goal for the year. Our church had a surplus of $171,141.27 for 2013 (income greater than expenses). In the January 22, 2014 business meeting, the church voted to approve the Finance committee's recom- mendation to apply that surplus as follows: $141,141.27 to the existing debt; $20,000 to the chapel construction project at Springlake camp; and $10,000 to establish an expanded Intern program with Ouachita Baptist University. Our total debt on the pro- ject that included the construction of our sanctuary was $11,300,000. Currently, that debt has been reduced to $2,850,000! And, since 2011, our church has benefited greatly from a 2.75% interest rate on our loan. Now is a great time to continue this momentum and eliminate our debt while the interest rate is low! Thank you for your faithfulness. Blessing upon blessing... Praise our holy God from whom all blessings flow. Mike Pounders

Fitness & Recreation Ministry

(All sign ups and resources are available at the Fitness/Recreation Ministry HQ by the welcome center.)

Relationships are important. We are created for a relationship with our Creator God and for relationships with each other. Our FBC Fitness Ministry Director Amy Johnson leads a staff dedicat-ed to growing relationships. We point to Jesus Christ as we grow with each other. This past week God used Amy to minister to a friend and fitness member as death drew near. I asked her to share a bit of her testimony.

Until we all fall down, Wallace

Fitness Ministry Creates Friendship We lost one of our senior

adult fitness participants last week. A long fight against cancer finally came to an end as Arlene Kaschner re-ceived her crown of glory in heaven. You may not have known Arlene. She wasn't a member of First Baptist Church, as is the case for about 40% of the people that join the fitness min-istry.

As I sat at her bedside the last hour of her life, a friend from her church and Sunday School class came in. I knew Karen because she also attends classes at FBC Fitness. But I learned something very special that day about how their friendship began and grew.

As Karen sat on the other side of the bed, she stroked Arlene's hand and started talking to her. Tears flowed down my face as I heard Karen say, "Arlene, my dear exercise buddy. How can I ever thank you for inviting me to First Baptist Church to take exercise classes with you? We barely knew each other even though we sat beside each other in Sunday School. It wasn't until you invited me to exercise at First Baptist that we became friends. You introduced me to all your exercise buddies and helped me get my health back. Thank you sweet friend!"

In that tearful moment, the Lord showed me once again how He is using the fitness ministry to love and touch the lives of His people, even to the point of helping members of a sister church become the closest of friends. – Amy Johnson
