VISION AND MISSION
1
VISION AND MISSION
VISION
To become an excellent and competitive Faculty of Business Management in Malaysia that is internationally recognized for its professionalism in education, training, research and consultancy services.
MISSION
The Faculty of Business Management will achieve academic excellence based on quality work and culture through:
providing integrated program with courses fulfilling the needs of the
industry and nation
effective development of human resources capable of delivering
internationally recognized research and consultancy services
producing professional and competitive graduates towards satisfying
industry needs through conducive teaching and learning environment
MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
2
MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
To meet the complex challenges facing the world today, the Faculty of Business Management strives to produce holistic undergraduates that not only possess in-depth knowledge in various fields, but also imbued with ethics that can guide them towards becoming responsible citizens of the world. The faculty, in full support of the university’s directions to be a top-notch university, has focused on improving efficacy in teaching and learning, research and innovation, linkages between the academic and industry and leadership as well as entrepreneurship amongst its faculty members and students. The achievements garnered throughout the year 2013 and documented in this annual report are a testament to the efforts in that direction.
As you flip the pages of the 2013 FBM Annual Report, you will see examples of numerous activities, research work, conferences and publications that our accomplishments would be possible without the relentless efforts from the faculty members and the support received from the management and administrative staff that ensure the delivery of quality human resource, service, and facility and information structure. Such monumental efforts are lauded, as they would translate into improved academic standards leading to the development of more competent graduates. I place emphasis on the faculty to become a breeding ground for ideas and the innovative processes that create new knowledge. I strongly urge the academic staff to produce research that is impactful and applicable to the industry and community at large. Without application, research would remain an academic research. In teaching and learning, each academic staff should remember to be passionate in the subjects taught and generate positive lasting effects on students’ lifelong educational and career goals. I would also like to remind students to get the most out of your time here with us. Each student should leave the university with a real, rich education and experience. The TIME magazine has once published an article on the secrets of the most successful college students of which some that I would like to share are to make a personal connection to studies, read and think actively, ask big questions, have empathy for others, set goals and make them real, and find a way to contribute. Lastly, I would like to congratulate the 2013 FBM Annual Report editorial committee for their commitment and hard work to ensure the timely production of the annual report. The documentation of all the past 2013 achievements serves as a reminder of the greatness we could, and have in fact, achieved and as an encouragement for greater success in all future academic endeavors. Thank you.
