Team Members: Andrew Milanes - Polaris Dominic Marcanio - FDEP Pedro ReyesUSCG Sally Schultz READ Survey Conditions: During today’s survey the skies were sunny, winds were N @ 15-20 knots, and seas in the Gulf were calm with swells at 2 feet. There was a neap tide today, with low tide (0.27 ft) at 2:47 AM, high tide (0.63 ft) at 9:43 AM, and low tide (0.53 ft) again at 4:10 PM. Survey Summary: Today Team 4 conducted Removal Actions Deemed Complete (RADC) surveys in Escambia County Division 1, segments FLES1-020, 021, 022, and 023 on NPS Gulf Islands National Seashore property. These segments (along with all other remaining FL NPS segments) were removed from the response by the FOSC without meeting SCCP endpoint criteria. Today’s surveys were conducted to document the levels of oiling left behind in these segments. With favorable conditions in the Gulf today, Team 4 was able to find a large amount (10.7 pounds) of MC-252 product across all four segments. Although the team was able to recover material stranded on the shore, there was a significant amount of product circulating in the swash zone and washing in with each wave. As such, the team was not able to fully mitigate the product from any segments surveyed today. Had the team been equipped with waders and/or nets, we could have recovered much more product from the swash zone. However, material cleanup has not historically been the role of SCAT.

Survey Conditions: During today’s survey the skies were sunny, winds were N @ 15-20 knots, and seas in the Gulf

were calm with swells at 2 feet. There was a neap tide today, with low tide (0.27 ft) at 2:47 AM, hightide (0.63 ft) at 9:43 AM, and low tide (0.53 ft) again at 4:10 PM.

Survey Summary:

Today Team 4 conducted Removal Actions Deemed Complete (RADC) surveys in EscambiaCounty Division 1, segments FLES1-020, 021, 022, and 023 on NPS Gulf Islands National Seashoreproperty. These segments (along with all other remaining FL NPS segments) were removed from theresponse by the FOSC without meeting SCCP endpoint criteria. Today’s surveys were conducted todocument the levels of oiling left behind in these segments.

With favorable conditions in the Gulf today, Team 4 was able to find a large amount (10.7

If almost eleven pounds of material accumulated in these segments only four days afterremoval operations ceased on 30 Apr 2013, I recommend taking a proactive approach and monitoringthese segments in conjunction with NPS personnel to locate and report future oiling.

The remaining product in these segments will need to be addressed through the NRC process,as will a majority of the other segments signed out of the response based on an arbitrary deadlinerather than meeting SCCP endpoint criteria.
