Christ Moravian Church February 2017 FELLOWSHIP MESSENGER Dave’s Devotional This month I’ve decided to include a list that comes from the Christopher’s, a non-profit organization founded in 1945 by Father James Keller. Christopher’s uses print and electronic media to spread a message of hope and understanding to people of faith. Their purpose is to encourage all individuals to recognize their abilities and use them to raise the standards in all phases of human endeavor. As a parent of a 10 year old I have found myself saying when David III isn't’ happy with a decision or a directive (like clean up your toys) that yes it is true that sometime life is not fair and that life is full of disappointments, but how we approach those situations is half the battle. The following list helps us focus on those times in our life when we might feel the same way. I hope you find this helpful. “10 Steps for Handling Life’s Hurts.” 1 Recognize a problem exists. 2 Acknowledge the pain you feel—or caused. 3 Ask for help, guidance, and another opinion. 4 Do one small, concrete thing to create change. 5 Make amends if appropriate. 6 Remember you always have choices. 7 Pray for strength, courage, healing. 8 Share what you’ve learned with others. 9 Don’t give up hope or extinguish it in others. 10 Forgive yourself. Forgive others. With the joy of serving Christ together, The Rev. Dr. David A. Marcus, Jr. All items to be included in the newsletter must be submitted to the church office by the 20 th of the month. The Unity Women’s Desk The Unity Women's Desk is sponsoring two upcoming events. The first date is March 8, 2017 -- International Women's Day -- a world-wide celebration of the contributions of women. The day has been celebrated in the US since 1911 and by the United Nations since the 1970's. More information will be coming your way soon. On March 12, the Unity Women's Desk will have a kick-off celebration for a special undertaking of the UWD. FELLOWSHIP MESSENGER

Dave’s Devotional This month I’ve decided to include a list that comes from the Christopher’s, a non-profit organization founded in 1945 by Father James Keller.

“10 Steps for Handling Life’s Hurts.”

1 Recognize a problem exists.

With the joy of serving Christ together,

The Rev. Dr. David A. Marcus, Jr.

CE Committee Report: Due to the snow, the CE Committee meeting was rescheduled from January 8 to January 29 in the church office following the service. It is likely a report will not be available before the February newsletter goes out. Youth Lunch: There will be a Youth Lunch on Sunday, February 26, in the Fellowship Building immediately following the service. The menu will be a Pasta Bar and salad. There is no charge but a love offering will be collected to help the youth with their programs and missions. BINGO to follow for all who are interested. Please join us for a time of great food and fellowship.

Marvelous Moravians: The Marvelous Moravians will have a planning meeting on Tuesday, February 7 at 11 AM in the Fellowship Building. Lunch will be provided. This Marvelous Moravians event is open to all who are interested in attending. This planning meeting is to review proposed activities and seek input from members of the group about things they would like to do together during the upcoming year. Your input is valued and needed so make plans to attend! A sign up sheet has been posted on the CHURCH FAMILY LIFE Bulletin Board so we may get a headcount for lunch.

Souper Bowl of Caring: Once again our Youth will be helping Samaritan Ministries with their annual Souper Bowl of Caring fundraiser. Youth will be located at all the exits on Sunday, February, with pots or baskets for you to drop your donations in. All the money will be sent to Samaritan Ministries to help stop hunger in our area. Thank you for helping us with this mission.

Dear Church Family, Thanks for all the kind thoughts, cards and prayers during the time I was recuperating from a torn calf muscle. (Lee Marcus) Dear Christ Moravian Church, “Thank You” for all the prayers, good wishes and cards from members of the congregation. Christ Moravian Church really is a wonderful and caring congregation and we are thankful to be members. We hope to be back with you as soon as possible. (Melinda & Bill Trevorrow)
