TSI Assessment at AHS on February 25, 2017
The TSI Assessment is being offered at AHS on Saturday, February 25th, at 7:30 a.m. This is a mandatory
step before a student can take a dual credit class and is also required of students planning to attend a public
college or university in Texas. See your counselor for details. Registration is available online through My
School Bucks or in person. Limited spots are available and will fill up quickly, so don't delay!
Flu Season
Please be aware that we are in the midst of flu season. Dual Credit Drive-Thrus
If you plan to take Dual Credit classes for the first time during the 2017-2018 school year, you should attend
one of the Dual Credit Drive-Thru's at any of the Alvin ISD High Schools. The next opportunity to attend will be
on February 21st @ 6:00pm in the Shadow Creek HS Library.

AHS AP Exam Information
It's never too early to register for your AP Exams! Registration is ongoing now through March 1st. The following table lists the date/time of each AP Exam. Please visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/440115 to register today.
AHS Mock AP Exam Information
Alvin High School will be conducting mock AP Exams to aid in the preparation for upcoming AP

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS go out to following JROTC cadets who participated in a Regional Drill Meet at Pasadena High School with 19 other schools on Saturday, Feb 18, 2017. Our Cadets earned the following:

Robotic students are preparing for Engineering Week by building soccer bots for the eager 8th graders
visiting AHS on February 24th.
Alvin High School Student Council received the Sweepstakes Award by earning required points in the 5 areas of TASC documentation.
Students in Mr. McGown's IPC class are building roller coasters to demonstrate potential and kinetic
energy.

Our Lady Jacket Softball Team is off to a great start this season with a 6-1 record. This past weekend we
participated in the best High School Softball Tournament in the state, which was held in Bryan/College Station.
The girls brought home 9th place out of 72 teams, going 5-1 on the weekend. The Lady Jackets hit a total of 4
home runs in 6 games! The home runs came from Rachel Hertenberger with 2, and Jordan McDonald and
Clarissa Barron each with one.
Thursday-Saturday, this week, we are hosting and playing in the Haynie Spirit Softball Tournament. Please
come out and support your Lady Jackets and support a great cause! There will be a silent auction and
proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for Breast Cancer Research. Attached is the schedule for the
tournament. All of Alvin's games will be played here at AHS.

Choir Solo & Ensemble Contest was held on Saturday, February 18th at Angleton High School. 30 events were taken and 27 students made top scores (rating of a 1) 14 students are advancing to State!
