Dear Members
Welcome to another edition of our Mercury Messenger newsletter. I hope you are all well and happy as we head towards the latter part of 2013. Although the year seems to be going quite fast for me, the Earth and the other Planets orbiting around the Sun is the same as it ever was. Perhaps the reminder of such steadiness of time in the scheme of nature’s cycles is a grounding experience? As for “grounding experiences” in life, the Committee here at the FAAWA have only just recently (in the last few days) had to cancel the Frank Clifford live streaming event planned for this month. Unfortunately the venue we had booked and approved by Edith Cowan University developed bureaucratic problems with regards to FAAWA and the use of the internet. It has been frustrating and sad for us to cancel the event with Frank Clifford. The last minute adjustments by the University to our booking have inspired the committee to find more suitable venues, sympathetic to the FAAWA and its member’s interests. Our aim is to find a Venue and “home base” centrally located with the kind of services that complement our needs. We have approached some organisations in hope they might extend their buildings for our use however at the moment we must remain flexible.
I apologise to all members for our cancelling of Frank Clifford and hope in reality it is just a “postponement” to a later date. Keep well and look to the Stars Sincerely

When Julius Caesar (remember he was Italian and Italy is in the
Northern hemisphere) established his calendar in 45 BC he set
March 25 as the spring equinox. Since a Julian year (365.25 days)
is slightly longer than an actual year the calendar drifted with
respect to the equinox, such that the equinox was occurring on about 21 March in AD 300 and by AD 1500
it had reached 11 March.
This drift induced Pope Gregory XIII to create a modern Gregorian calendar. The Pope wanted to restore
the edicts concerning the date of Easter of the Council of Nicaea of AD 325. (Incidentally, the date of Easter
itself is fixed by an approximation of lunar cycles used in the Hebraic calendar, but according to the
historian Bede the English name "Easter" comes from a pagan celebration by the Germanic tribes of the
vernal (spring) equinox.) So the shift in the date of the equinox that occurred between the 4th and the 16th
centuries was annulled with the Gregorian calendar, but nothing was done for the first four centuries of the
Julian calendar. The days of 29 February of the years AD 100, AD 200, AD 300, and the day created by the
irregular application of leap years between the assassination of Caesar and the decree of Augustus re-
arranging the calendar in AD 8, remained in effect. This moved the equinox four days earlier than in
Caesar's time.
Using the terms March equinox and September equinox avoids the Northern Hemisphere bias (implied by
assuming that March is in the springtime and September is autumnal – true for those in the Northern
Hemisphere but exactly opposite in the Southern Hemisphere).

A Total Solar Eclipse : November 3rd 2013
November 3, 11° Scorpio 16', Total Solar Eclipse
A Total Solar Eclipse occurs on November 3, 2013 at 11 degrees and 16 minutes of Scorpio, but will not
be visible from Perth, WA. This event will affect people born with personal planets and points at
approximately 6 to 16 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
Solar Eclipses are very powerful New Moons and are known to herald significant endings and beginnings. If you are in direct alignment with this eclipse your life will change forever in magnificent ways – for good or bad! Public standing may soar or crash due to the effects of an eclipse! Events that are triggered by an eclipse usually take six months to unfold, and even begin to work before the actual event so you can expect this process of change to gradually unfold. Special opportunities to break old patterns become apparent as you begin to make major changes in your life.
All Scorpio Sun Sign people will be most affected by this Solar Eclipse as will those with Scorpio rising. If you are a Taurus or have Taurus rising you will feel this eclipse more strongly than most because in our sky the constellation of Taurus is opposite the constellation of Scorpio and is in direct alignment with this eclipse.

Overall, you will find yourself redoing your life from your toes to the top of your head and your appearance will be changed radically as you enhance your image to reflect the massive changes going on within you. Remember, Eclipses are about endings . . and beginnings!! Ultimately the changes in how you see yourself will affect how you are perceived by others thereby affecting all of your personal AND business life. An eclipse is a far more potent lunation. Look to the house the eclipse falls in your natal chart. The affairs of that house will be activated. Does the eclipse fall on a sensitive point or planet in your natal chart? That point or planet will also be activated. The sign of the eclipse plays a role in the likely events that the eclipse will trigger.
Australia’s own brilliant mundane astrologer Ed tamplin has noted
in his weekly political column a couple of our politicians who have
contacts to eclipses this year. He states”Tony Abbott was born
November 4 1957 @ 4 am in London. The post election November 3
Solar Eclipse, is falling within twelve minutes of arc to his birth Sun.
This is a classic repositioning statement”. In her predictive book
“the Eagle and the Lark” Bernadette Brady lists the November 3rd
eclipse as belonging to the Saros Series 16 North …..
….Uranus forms a trine to Neptune, and Venus is on the midpoint of the New Moon/Mercury. She explains
this as meaning “A gentle family of eclipses which brings a sense of inspiration or the illumimation of ideas.
The presence of the Uranus-Neptune combination talks of the sudden release of material from the
unconscious which brings with it a great deal of insight. These ideas are good and the individual would be
wise to act upon them”.
AND that’s not all! 2013 is the chinese Year of the Water Snake and, yes I know, Tony Abbott was born in
the Year of the Rooster but did you know that the Rooster is very compatible with the Snake. Note also, the
Uranus and Pluto square will be exact and activating his chart on November 1st. Is there a message for the
September 7th election here?
Ed Tamplin also pointed us, earlier in the year, to the fact that Bill Shorten was born May 12 1967 (no time), and experienced the 2013 May 10 Solar Eclipse on his birth Sun. Remembering that Ed says “this is a Classic repositioning statement” we didn’t have to wait too long for this to prove true in the about turn to get Kevin Rudd back as Labor leader, and Prime Minister. Shorten played a pivital role in this and, given his strong ambitions for the leadership, he is now well positioned to take over if, and when, the oportunity arises. Brady lists the May 10 eclipse as belonging to the Saros Series 15 South …..
….A Jupiter-Uranus conjunction which is trine the New Moon, and Pluto is on the midpoint of Saturn/Node. She explains this as meaning “This series is about the realease of tension. A situation which has been lingering will suddenly clear. In the clearing of the problem there is also a sense of grief or loss which is not so much personal as belonging to a group or collective”.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The AGM for the FAA WA is to be held on Sunday 17th November 2013.
All committee positions will be declared open in accordance with normal AGM
protocol. Please contact any committee member with any query if you are
interested in becoming part of this effective and friendly team.
To nominate, the prescribed form must be filled out and signed by the nominee and
one committee member. This is to be presented not later than 14 days before the
AGM.
It is vitally important that you support your branch. We need at least 13 members to
form a quorum. This includes proxies, so if you cannot attend yourself please send
your proxy to a financial member of your choice who will be attending.
Nomination and proxy forms are included with this issue of the MM.
We will continue our tradition of lunching together after the meeting is closed.
