FedEx Ground Multiweight®

Courtesy Rate Tool Guide

Program PurposeThe FedEx Ground Multiweight Courtesy Rate Tool is a windows based software that provides

account specific net Multiweight® rate quotes for multiple-package FedEx Ground® shipments

over 200 lbs. The program also provides FedEx Ground transit times per shipment.

System Requirements Supported Operating Systems:

■ Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 3

■ Windows® 98 Second Edition■ Windows® ME

■ Windows® XP Home/Professional with Service Pack 2

Required Software: ■ Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.01 or later

■ Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0

■ Windows® Installer 3.0 or later

Internet access required

■ High-speed access highly recommended

Install1. Verify your computer meets the minimum requirements.

■ The install process will automatically check for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. If your computer does not have this software version, the installation process will offer to update the Microsoft framework. You must have administrator access to your computer to complete the Microsoft update. For more on updating to Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, please read the box on the next page.

2. Shut down all open programs prior to installation.

3. Click “Install Software” from the installation page.

4. Upon first prompt which lists FedEx Ground Multiweight Courtesy Rating tool, please click “Install.”

Activate and Configure■ Upon initial start-up, the end-user license agreement will appear. Please read and

accept the terms by clicking “Agree.” The program will not activate without agreeing to the license agreement.

Note: If Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is needed you first will see a setup.exe “Run” prompt, as shown to the right. Please see the box below for more details. Please note that updating Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 could take upwards of 30 minutes.

5. Installation is complete when the FedEx Ground Multiweight Courtesy Rate Tool License Agreement screen appears.

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Update■ To verify if Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is installed on your

computer, go to your computer’s “Control Panel” and open “Add or Remove Programs.” You will see Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 program listed in alphabetical order.

■ To update Microsoft .NET versions, you must have administrator access to your computer.

■ This install process will provide the option to update to .NET Framework 2.0. The process will show a prompt to “Run” or “Save” a setup.exe file. This is the Microsoft update. Click “Run.”

■ You will next need to accept the Microsoft license agreement.

■ The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 update could take upwards of 30 minutes depending on network connection speed.

■ Once the .NET Framework software is updated, refresh Microsoft Internet Explorer by pressing the F5 key.

■ Please continue with the FedEx Ground Multiweight Courtesy Rating Tool install outlined above.

■ Once the license agreement is accepted, the account information screen will appear.

■ Please fill in your account information and complete all bold fields.

■ Please click “Get Meter Number.” This will register the program with FedEx.

■ Please DO NOT enter a meter number from another FedEx program like FedEx Ship Manager® Software. The program requires its own meter number.

■ If this is a reinstall from a previous FedEx Ground Multiweight Courtesy Rate Tool, please enter the previous FedEx Ground Multiweight Rate Tool meter number. If the previous meter number is lost or forgotten, please call the technical help number on the following page.

■ Multiple systems can be configured with the same account number and account information. Yet, each program should have its own meter number. Please follow the same install instructions for each computer.

■ The menu offers an “Import Information” and “Export Information” function that allows for the program’s configured account information to be saved to a file and loaded into multiple system installs at the same account. The export button saves the account information to a file named “MWTTool.xml.” Once transferred to the separate systems, this file can then be imported through the import button to populate account information in separate installs.

■ Enter a default origin five-digit postal ZIP code for convenience. The program allows for the origin ZIP code to be changed during use as required.

■ Check “Turn on Logging” if you would prefer a record of the shipment and associated rate quote transactions during use. The log will be saved as a text file on the C:\ drive and named MWT.log.

■ Once configured with the account information and meter number, please click “Save” then “Exit.”

■ The program is now ready for use.

Shipment Rate Quote■ Open the program and ensure Internet access.

■ Enter shipment information, including:

■ Total number of packages in the shipment.

■ Total shipment weight.

■ Destination five-digit postal ZIP code.

■ Verify origin five-digit postal ZIP code if defaulted and adjust if necessary.

■ Click “Rate” to receive your account specific net Multiweight rate and associated shipment transit time.

■ To rate another shipment, please click “Clear” and fill in new shipment information.

■ Repeat as often as necessary.

Shipment Rate Quote With Package Detail■ As required, package specific weights and dimensions can be entered to generate a

shipment rate quote. Press the “Package Detail” link to enter the package detail page.

■ Enter the number of identical packages followed by the package weight and dimensions. A previously added default package dimension profile (see note below) can be selected from the drop down list.

■ Press “add.” Continue to add packages that comprise the shipment.

■ If necessary, highlight any entered package in the table and hit “Delete” to remove that package or select “Delete All” to clear all packages.

■ Once complete, select “Rate” or “Save and Exit.” The “Rate” command in the package detail screen will only work if the destination ZIP had already been entered on the main screen.

■ Once back on the main screen, enter the shipment origin and destination ZIP codes and select “Rate.”

■ Please note that if package dimensions cause the shipment rated weight to be higher than the actual shipment weight, the shipment weight field will change to the rated shipment weight.

■ Press “Clear” to begin a new rate quote.

Additional Handling Charge■ A default “Additional Handling Charge” can be added to each rate quote. This feature is

available under “System Settings/Account Information.”

■ Select the “Handling Charge” tab and enable the check box for a handling charge.

■ Choose the Type (Flat Charge, Percent of Freight Charge or Percent of Net Charge) and Level (Per Package or Per Shipment) preferred.

■ Once complete, select “Save” and then “Exit.”

■ A handling charge will automatically apply as a separate line item and added to the total rate for each rate quote.

Default Package Dimension■ Default package dimension profiles can be stored under “System Settings/Box

Dimension Maintenance” and are available when entering package level details.

■ In “Box Dimension Maintenance and Add/Delete Box Dimensions” section, enter the default box name and dimensions and select “Add.” Repeat to enter additional profiles.

■ If necessary, highlight an entered box profile in the table and select “Delete” to remove a previously saved default.

■ Once complete, select “Exit” to return to the main screen.

■ Default package profiles will be available in the drop down list of the “Package Level Detail” page.

Print With Reference■ The Print Rate Quote feature offers a reference entry, if enabled, when a quote is printed.

The reference will be printed at the top of the rate quote print out.

■ Under System Settings/Account Information, check the box at the bottom of the Account Information page that states “Prompt for shipment reference when printing rate quote” to enable this feature. Select “Save” and “Exit” to return to the main page.

■ Upon selecting “Print Rate Quote” from the main menu, the reference entry field will appear. Enter desired information and select OK. The reference entered will print on the rate quote printout.

Program Limits and Requirements■ Requires FedEx Ground Multiweight rates in place as part of FedEx Ground account

arrangement. Please contact your FedEx account executive or 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339 for more details.

■ For shipments within the contiguous U.S. only.

■ For multiple-package shipments above 200 lbs.

■ Does not support residential deliveries or special services like FedEx Ground® C.O.D. (collect on delivery) or hazardous materials.

■ Select Get Rates under the Ship tab at fedex.com for package specific rate quotes that include special services.
