Feed A KidIt was last year that a good friend of mine, a

photographer, Michael Morota invited me to this place, a placed called Ulingan.

In the several times I have been there, I've developed a certain attachment to the place, especially the kids out there. During my visits and work at Ulingan, I always promised myself to do something very special for the children, even if just for a day. Now, that day has come… on my birthday.

Having grown up as an orphan, I had to look after myself, my brother and my grandmother. I know how hard it is to feel hungry. I remember I was 12 years old when I would knock on our neighbor’s door begging for rice, asking the other for water. Growing up as such, my personal sentiment goes to kids who lost their parents, but Ulingan opened my eyes that orphaned or not, the feeling of hunger is the same, rich or poor, every stomach aches when hungry. Whether you’re in America, Europe or Asia the feeling of hunger has no difference… hunger speaks one language.

And thus I am calling upon your great hearts to support my birthday project this coming January 23, 2012. As my way of celebrating my birthday, I will be launching a small advocacy project that aims to feed the kids of Ulingan. My objective is to serve a meal to each of the 500 kids even just for a day.

Some of my friends expressed their help and commitment to this project already, and now I’m asking for your help to help me make this a success. For each kid to be fed, a cost of P40 is needed. This includes a complete set of meal and drinks, transportation of volunteers to get to the area, full documentation of the event and a thank you photo from the kids.

The aim of the project although short-term as of the status quo, it has the vision to grow in the future and be a self-sustaining one. With your help to make this launching fly, I believe there will be follow-up efforts for such.
