The Associate Educational Fellowship Programme Feedback from Fellowship discussion 12 th January 2017 How should educationalists prepare young people for civic and professional life in a digital age? Look at incorporating philosophy into classes Disagree with AI led Climate change/limited resources/community minded way to teach Develop transferrable life skills – creative thinking, listening, judgment and consideration, predict outcomes, negotiate social media and new environments – this can all be taught through philosophy Not accept and narrow philosophy as a programme Look for opportunities Philosophy for a child as a programme – not balancing as a focus on Maths and Science – a drive to create more creativity. Question established ideas – teach to challenge and question Pastoral Programme would be a natural way to introduce Philosophy. There is too much reliance on technology and wifi – everyone relies on it – teachers and students. Build, think and reflect. We currently instantly look up something – we need to learn to think. Building the time – turn off wifi Understand how to deal with technology Speaking and listening is not in the curriculum – they have access to too much information – teach them to decide and challenge on valid information.
