D’fhonn tacú leis an éagsúlacht atá in Éirinn mar gheall ar mhuintir na Polainne, bunaíodh PolskaÉire 2015 mar fhéile náisiúnta a bheidh á reáchtáil ag an am céanna le cluiche cáilithe UEFA Phoblacht na hÉireann vs. an Pholainn ar an 29 Márta. Meastar go bhfuil tuairim is 150,000 saoránach Polannach ina gcónaí i bPoblacht na hÉireann, rud a fhágann gurb í an Pholainnis an dara teanga is mó a labhraítear ar an oileán. To champion the diversity that Polish people bring to Ireland, PolskaÉire 2015 has been established as a nationwide festival to coincide with the UEFA Republic of Ireland vs. Poland qualifier on the 29th of March. It is estimated that there are presently 150,000 Polish citizens living in the Republic of Ireland resulting in Polish becoming the second most widely spoken language on the island. Throughout the week there will be cultural and sporting events for everyone to take part.

Festiwal PolskaÉire2015 ma na celu pokazanie wkładu żyjących tu Polaków do kulturowej różnorodności Irlandii. W tym roku Festiwal zbiega się w czasie z meczem piłki nożnej, który planowany jest na 29 marca w ramach eliminacji UEFA. Dane szacunkowe mówią o 150 tysiącach obywateli polskich mieszkających w Irlandii, w wyniku czego język polski stał się drugim najczęściej używanym językiem na wyspie. Przez cały tydzień będą się odbywać imprezy kulturalne i sportowe, w których udział mogą wziąć wszyscy zainteresowani. Ar an 19 Samhain 2008, agus mé ag siúl cóngarach do Pháirc an Chrócaigh, chuala mé gáir mhór ag teacht ón staid. Bhí Éire ag imirt in éadan na Polainne an tráthnóna sin i gcluiche sacair cairdeachais idirnáisiúnta agus ghlac mé leis go raibh foireann na hÉireann tar éis cúl a scóráil. Ach bhí dul amú orm - is mar fhreagra ar chúl eile de chuid na Polainne a ligeadh an gáir bhodhraitheach áthais.

Nuair a ceapadh mar Aire Stáit do Phobail Nua, Cultúr agus Comhionannas mé an samhradh seo caite, d’aithin mé roimh i bhfad gur deis é an cluiche cáilithe UEFA in éadan na Polainne lenár bpobal mór Polannach de 150,000 duine a cheiliúradh. Ba ansin a cuireadh tús le coincheap ‘PolskaÉire2015’.

Beidh féile PolskaÉire2015 ar siúl ón 21-29 Márta agus beidh imeachtaí á n-óstáil ag forais náisiúnta, údaráis áitiúla, grúpaí pobail, clubanna spóirt agus scoileanna ar fud na tíre.

Ba mhaith liom buíochas a ghabháil le Cumann Peile na hÉireann, Ambasáid na Polainne, an Irish-Polish Society, Comhairle Cathrach Bhaile Átha Cliath agus oifigigh mo Ranna féin as an tiomantas atá léirithe acu i rith pleanáil uile na féile seo.

Tugaim cuireadh duit páirt a ghlacadh sna himeachtaí agus cabhrú linn Poblacht níos cuimsithí agus níos imeasctha a fhorbairt.

On November 19 2008 when walking near Croke Park I heard a thunderous roar from the stadium. Ireland were playing Poland in an international soccer friendly so I assumed Ireland had just scored. I was wrong - the deafening cheer was actually greeting another Polish goal.

When I was appointed Minister for New Communities, Culture and Equality last summer, I quickly identified the upcoming UEFA qualifier against Poland as an opportunity to celebrate our 150,000 strong Polish community. The ‘PolskaÉire 2015’ idea was born.

The PolskaÉire 2015 festival runs from 21-29 of March and events will be hosted by national institutions, local authorities, community groups, sports clubs and schools throughout the country.

I would like to thank the commitment shown throughout the planning of this festival by the Football Association of Ireland, the Polish Embassy, the Irish-Polish Society, Dublin City Council and officials from my own Departments.

I invite you to get involved in the events and to help us build a more inclusive and integrated Republic.

19 listopada 2008 roku, kiedy spacerowałem w pobliżu Croke Park, usłyszałem wielką wrzawę dochodzącą ze stadionu. Odbywał się tam mecz towarzyski drużyn piłkarskich Polski i Irlandii. Pomyślałem, że właśnie strzeliliśmy gola, jednak pomyliłem się. To był kolejny gol strzelony nam przez naszych polskich gości!

Po objęciu stanowiska Ministra ds. Mniejszości Narodowych, Kultury i Równości Irlandii zrozumiałem, że nadchodzący mecz w ramach kwalifikacji EURO2016 jest znakomitą okazją, by wspólnie docenić obecność polskiej społeczności w Irlandii liczącej obecnie 150,000 osób. Tak narodził się pomysł zorganizowania festiwalu ‘PolskaÉire2015.’

Festiwal będzie trwał od 21 do 29 marca 2015 roku, a jego organizatorami są instytucje publiczne, władze samorządowe, kluby sportowe, społeczności lokalne i szkoły.

Chciałbym podziękować za zaangażowanie w organizowaniu festiwalu Ambasadzie RP w Dublinie, Irlandzkiemu Związkowi Piłki Nożnej, Towarzystwu Irlandzko–Polskiemu, Radzie Miasta Dublina oraz pracownikom ministerstw.

Zapraszam do uczestnictwa i zachęcam do dalszej integracji.

„Radosne serca biją dłużej!”Trzydzieści lat temu przez myśl by mi nie przeszło, że aż tylu Polaków osiedli się w Irlandii. Obecnie Polacy mieszkają tu, pracują, studiują, zakładają rodziny i podróżują. Pielęgnują rodzime polskie tradycje, jednocześnie poznając coraz lepiej ten cudowny kraj.

Wiele nas łączy. Irlandczycy i Polacy walczyli o niepodległość, doświadczyli głodu i emigracji. Uczymy się wzajemnie od siebie. Dzięki Irlandczykom staliśmy się bardziej pozytywni, towarzyscy i otwarci! Nasze narody są w bardzo dobrych stosunkach i wspaniale się rozumieją, zwłaszcza jeżeli chodzi o sport i dobrą

zabawę. Dzielimy z Irlandczykami upodobanie do ziemniaków i zamiłowanie do spotkań w gronie przyjaciół po męczącym dniu w pracy.

Nadszedł czas aby podczas jednego tygodnia połączyć bogactwo oraz różnorodność naszych kultur, narodowości i tradycji. Spędźmy ten czas razem! Serdecznie zachęcam do udziału w imprezach podczas festiwalu polsko-irlandzkiego!

Tá Polannaigh anois ag obair, ag staidéar, ag taisteal agus ina gcónaí anseo. Coimeádann siad a gcuid traidisiúin agus ag an am céanna tá fonn orthu tuilleadh a fhoghlaim faoin tír iontach seo.

Tá go leor i gcoiteann againn. Throid na hÉireannaigh agus na Polannaigh chun saoirse a fháil daoibh féin agus d’fhulaing siad beirt bochtanas agus imirce. Foghlaimíonn muid óna chéile freisin. A bhuíochas do na hÉireannaigh táimid níos dearfaí, níos suáilcí agus níos oscailte ó thaobh na hintinne de. Réitíonn an dá náisiún go maith lena chéile, go háirithe ó thaobh spóirt agus craic de. “Maireann croi eadrom i bhfad.”Thirty years ago I wouldn’t have even thought that so many happy Poles would live in Ireland as they live today. Nowadays, there are Polish pupils in Irish schools, Polish shops sell our products, Polish theatre performances and films are part of the Irish repertoire. Poles work, study, travel and live here. Ireland has become their home, though Poles still cherish and remember their home in Poland. They keep their traditions and simultaneously are eager to learn more about this wonderful country. The Polish and Irish desire to integrate.

In my opinion, Ireland and Poland have much in common. We are now modern societies with a commitment to free trade, a market economy and export-driven growth. We have similar histories, we fought for freedom, faced poverty and experienced emigration. The Irish perfectly understand what their home is like.

We also learn from each other. Thanks to the Irish we became more positive, outgoing and open-minded. Our nations get on very well, especially when it comes to sport and having fun. Every Irish who visited Poland during EURO2012 football championship had such good craic!

Football’s biggest strength is its ability to unite.In 2007, the FAI was the first NGB to appoint an Intercultural Officer to facilitate inclusion in football for people from diverse ethnic, cultural, national and religious backgrounds. The results have been tremendous.

We congratulate Minister of State Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, as well as the Polish Embassy, Dublin City Council and the other national and local bodies involved in the PolskaÉire Festival and look forward to playing our part.

We can look forward to some special shared moments with an array of club and community grassroots activities, as well as the

match against Poland on March 29, and two amateur international friendlies on March 24 in Galway and March 26 in Cork.

Polish people make a huge contribution to our society, and this festival will help to showcase the close relationships between our countries.

Jedną z największych korzyści płynących z gry w piłkę nożną jest jej zdolność do jednoczenia.W 2007 roku Irlandzki Związek Piłki Nożnej był pierwszą krajową agencją sportową, która utworzyła stanowisko ds. międzykulturowych, mające na celu integrowanie różnych środowisk etnicznych, kulturowych, narodowych i religijnych. Rezultaty były imponujące.

Składamy gratulacje Ministrowi Aodhanowi Ó Ríordáinowi, a także Ambasadzie RP w Dublinie, Radzie Miasta Dublina i innym krajowym i lokalnym organom uczestniczącym w organizacji Festiwalu PolskaÉire i z radością oczekujemy naszego współudziału w tym wydarzeniu.

Czekamy na niezapomniane chwile podczas szeregu różnych wydarzeń organizowanych przez kluby piłkarskie i lokalne społeczności. Wrażeń nie zabraknie również w trakcie meczu Polska-Irlandia 29 marca, a także dwóch meczów towarzyskich pomiędzy drużynami amatorów 24 marca w Galway oraz 26 marca w Cork.

Polacy są bardzo ważną częścią naszego społeczeństwa i festiwal ten pomoże nam zaprezentować bliskie relacje między naszymi krajami.
