EitherusingyoursewingmachineORhandembroideringusebrownthreadtocoverthegridyoujustdrew.*Ioptedtohandembroiderusingastemstitch.

Foldthepineapplebodyinhalf,rightsidefacingeachother,andsewdownthelongsideendingattheinchmarkthatisgridfree.Alongthegridfreebottominchsectionofyourpineapple,cut4longthintrianglesectionsout.You'llneedtomakethesecutsinordertofoldthebottomsectionsovertoclosethepineapple.

Cutsmalltriangleshapesintothetopofyourpineapple,preferablynotintoanyofthegridstitchesyoucreated.Foldthetopsoversoandbegintohandstitchthetopofyourpineappleclosedusingyellowthread.Donotclosethetopcompletely.Insertthestemintothecenterofthepineappleandcontinuetostitchthetopshutwhilestitchingthestemintoplace.

Suppliesneeded:RedandGreenFelt,Fiberfill,Needle,Red,GreenandWhiteThread,Optional:StrawberryContainerUsingthepdfpattern,whichcanbefoundhere,begintocutoutyourstrawberry.Cutthebodyoutofredfeltandthestemoutofgreenfelt.Makeanindentationinthecenterofthestrawberrybody.Tightlyrollupfiberfill,aboutthesizeofamarble,andplaceitintheindentation.

Stufftherestofthestrawberrywithfiberfill.Itsquishesdownsogenerouslyfillthestrawberry.

Threadyourneedlewithredthread(Iuse2strandsofDMCthread).Knottheendofthethread,don'tworryaboutiftheknotisexposedornot.Doarunningstitcharoundtheedgeofthestrawberrybody.

Asyoucontinuearoundtheedgeofthestrawberry,starttopullthethreadtauntwhichinturnwillgatherthefeltyoujustsewedthroughintofolds.

Whenyouhavestitchedaroundtheentirestrawberry,continuepullingthethreadtauntresultinginatightlygatheredcircleonthetopofyourstrawberry.

Sewtheopeningofthecircleclosed.Workyourneedlefromonesidetothesideoppositeclosingtheopening.Itdoesnotneedtobeperfect,thiswillbecoveredupbythestem.Knotyourthreadanddetach.

Re‐knottheendofyourredthread.Pushyourneedlein,justabovewhereyouplacedthemarblesizedfiberfillballinthebottomofthestrawberry,andpullitstraightthroughtotheotherside.Pullthethreadtightsothatbothsidespuckerin.Continuethisstep,stitchingbackandforthinthesamespots,afewtimesuntilthepuckerholdsinplace.Theresultshouldlooklikedimpleonbothsidesofthestrawberry.Knotanddetach.

Threadyourneedlewithgreenthread,again,Iuseonly2strandsofDMCthread.Begintostitchthestemtothetopofthestrawberry.Feltisawonderfullyforgivingmaterial,ifneedbe,stretchittomakesurethestitchesusedtoclosethetopofthestrawberryarenotexposed.
