Fertilizer Customer Event Sandvik Process Systems

UAS Production Test On August 7, 2014 Sandvik Process Systems organized at its Fertilizer Productivity Test Center in Fellbach, Germany a UAS (Urea-AmmoniumSulphate) production test run on a Sandvik Rotoform. Several interested companies like OCI, SABIC, Grodno Azot and Nitrogenmuvek were present to witness the tests.

The ammonium sulphate is added in the form of powder or fine particles in the mixer via a dosing system. The dosing system can be adjusted as desired for various mix ratios of urea and ammonium sulphate (70:30, 60:40, 50:50 etc).     The inline mixer will mix the urea melt and particles of ammonium sulphate and, at the same time, will grind the larger sizes. The slurry is then pumped to the Rotoformer line, where it solidifies on a cooled rotating steel belt in the form of very uniform pastilles.

Mr. Steven Sutanto, General Product Manager Fertilizer kicked off the event with a presentation explaining the technology, development and references of the Sandvik Rotoform and the importance of applying multi-nutrient for more efficient crop production. Sulphur is nowadays after Nitrogen, Phosphates and Potassium the fourth nutrient for growing crop.

Some fifty kg of U+AS with 25wt% AS was produced on the Rotoform that day. The quality analysis of the urea, AS and product (UAS 25%) showed an excellent quality and uniformity.
