Previously, he was the Manager of Economic and Market Research at Standard Bank of Namibia and prior to that he was a Policy Advisor in the Research, Policy and Statistics (RPS) Department at Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA). Mr. Likukela was also an Economist within the Research Department at the Bank of Namibia and also worked in the Policy Research and Analysis Division. He worked as a Minerals Economist at the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Mr. Likukela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (majoring in Research Methodology as well as Development and Planning Economics) and a Master’s degree in Economics (majoring in Monetary and Financial Economics). In addition, he also acquired several professional qualifications in finance, banking, monetary policy and financial sector issues from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. He is currently enrolled for the Postgraduate Certificae in Higher Educaion (PGCHE) with the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST). Mr. Likukela participated in various commissioned researches ranging from banking to socio-economic topics and has authored several articles in various media on various critical economic policy issues in Namibia over the past years.
