FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC BALL VALVES

We produce unique, lightweight resistant FRP valves for global industry. We are also a reliable developer and supplier of FRP valves. FRP valves have many superior properties when compared to traditional metal or thermoplastic valves. Among other qualities, FRP valves provide an excellent solution for applications where corrosion resistance and long-term mechanical strength are needed. Pipes and valves manufactured from corrosion-resistant reinforced plastics provide efficient and economical solutions for a variety of applications in bleaching plants, as well as in the chemical, mineral, oil and metal industries.

The lightweight construction and durability of FRP valves are definite benefits. Our valves have a wide variety of application uses and are easy to install and operate. FRP valve solutions are notably cheaper than solutions utilizing different materials with similar qualities; and the lightweight construction allows them to be handled more easily. This makes it much easier to maintain our valves – which ensures that our customers receive a great cost-saving benefit.

FOR CLEAN ENVIRONMENT.

Robust, light construction with excellent corrosion resistance -

Cost effective durability for processing liquids and chemicals

With our service solution, it is no longer necessary to replace worn out valves with new ones.

Fr Valve products Oy is a Finnish company producing, developing and maintaining Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) valves.

FOR CLEAN ENVIRONMENT.

Robust, light constructionThe mechanical strength of FRP equals that of construction steel. The load carrying capability is variable according to the individual need. The standard valve is provided with a collar and loose flange. Several flange drilling alternatives are available. Valves are also available with straight pipe ends to connect to FRP-pipe with a butt and strap joint. The ave-rage weight of an FRP valve is less than half of a corresponding metal valve. Therefore, larger valves can be handled manually.

Excellent corrosion resistanceAll parts that come into contact with media are made of corrosion resis-tant material, e.g. the body and ball are of the VEN type FRP and seals of PTFE. Accordingly, a wide range of acid and alkaline services can be covered.

High capacity – no cloggingFRP ball valves have a full bore opening that is equal to the shape and size of a pipe of the same diameter. This means higher capacity and less risk of clogging when solids and slurries are handled.

Size range* DN 80 … 1000

Pressure ratings* PN 2.5, 4, 6, 10, 16, 25

* Compatible with ANSI 150 flanges

* Compatible with ANSI 300 flanges

Temperature rangeIn the standard service the maximum temperature is +80 … +120 °C depending on the liquid. Short term temperature peaks that exceed these limits are allowed. For further details, please contact our repre-sentative.

All construction details are engineered for maxi-mum reliability and ease of maintenance* The body of the ball and stem are welded together and covered

by a continuous, thick layer of FRP.

* Carbon reinforced PTFE seats are located in body grooves, andare well protected against damage and erosion.

* Split body construction facilitates field maintenance.

* Gland packing of a pressurized valve can be tightened. Re- packing is possible without removing the actuator.

* A compact, light valve unit with a Neles-Jamesbury actuator, positioner and limit switch unit.

* Standard bolt material is AISI 316.

* Standard loose flanges are galvanized.

ASSEMBLY DRAWING AND PARTS LIST

Aggressive chemicals often limit maximum temperatures be-cause of corrosion. Please check the long term maximum tem-peratures in the leaflet on our website ‘Corrosion Resistance of FRP-valves’, resin type VE and VEN, or from FR Valve. The temperatures stated in the leaflet are based on our extensive experience and are provided in good faith. Local conditions may have an effect on resistance, therefore the listed temperatures cannot be utilized as an absolute guarantee.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONSBleaching chemicals are a serious challenge to the anticorrosive properties of process valves. Major examples are the valves that handle chlorine and chlorine dioxide. For these extremely demanding conditions has University of Finland developed a robust FRP ball Valve in the 1980s, in which they proved to be an immediate success.

INSTALLATION EXAMPLEHere the fiber reinforced plastic material is an economical alternative. In this process the chlorine dioxide is mixed with the pulp to control the brightness levels.
