CAMP HOST: Suzuki School of Newton CAMP LOCATION: Lasell College, Winslow Academic Center 80 Maple Street, Newton MA 02466 Fiddle, Cello, & Guitar Ages 9-Adult August 20-23, 2013 Daytime Classes, Barn Dance, Jam, and Staff/Student Concert Welcome to Brian Wicklund’s Fiddle Pal Camp New England in Newton, MA (outside of Boston) for four days of instruction and fun. Brian has hand picked a staff of amazingly talented teachers and musicians who will teach great music and the skills to play it. Students will learn bluegrass, Canadian, Appalachian, Irish, and blues for fiddle, cello and guitar. We also plan time to kick the soccer ball, hang out with new friends, have a barn dance, and join the amazing staff for a concert. Ability Levels Fiddle classes are open to anyone with a minimum of one year of study on the instrument and can play with ease in first position. Guitar players should be able to make chords easily and be prepared to play with a pick. Cellists must be comfortable playing music with extended fourth finger. Tunes are taught by ear in class with written music also supplied. Food Healthy morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Students should bring a packed lunch. We’ll picnic outside weather permitting. Registration Includes 4 days of instruction, snacks, a camp T-shirt, admission to barn dance and 1 ticket to staff concert. Brian Wicklund Fiddle (minnesota) hosts the Fiddle pal Camp. author of best–seller the american Fiddle method, Brian teaches dozens of workshops each year internationally, inspiring students and entertaining them with his wacky sense of humor. Katie McNally Fiddle (massachusetts) grew up steeped in the vibrant scottish and Cape Breton music community in Boston and is a recent graduate of tufts University where she studied music and Child Development. she has performed across the Us with Galician piper Carlos Núñez, fiddle supergroup Childsplay, and in her own duo with guitarist Eric mcDonald. www.katieandericmusic.com

Mariel Vandersteel Fiddle (massachusetts) grew up in California, attending weekly Irish sessions. after graduating from Berklee College of music with a degree in Violin performance, mariel studied traditional music and the Hardanger fiddle at Høgskolen i telemark in Norway. mariel currently plays nationally and internationally with Laura Cortese’s acoustic project, Blue moose and the Unbuttoned Zippers and a duo with Emma Beaton. www.marielvandersteel.com
