Honor your loved ones,
alive and deceased, by
requesting Masses for
them. We still have some dates
available for the month of February.
They will be grateful to you for all eternity. A stipend of 10 dollars
is normally accepted but any amount is really appreciated. We have
envelopes to request a card for whom the Mass is offered.
Did you fill out the Church’s Census Form already? We are conducting a census of parishioners to create a database of
Saint Mary’s families. It will be used to see how many registered
parishioners we have. It will also serve the purpose to facilitate
sacramental documentation such as recommendations letters for
Baptism, Confirmations, Marriage, and other sacramental
permission necessary in the Catholic Church. Please fill out this
form. One per household. Return it to the Rectory, or put it in the
collection basket.
Yours with Christ, Fr. Alfred J. Harris. Pastor

perspective and provide shuttles for your visits to your legislators’ offices. Afterward there will be a reception to mingle with

The Sunday TV Mass Do you know someone who can't get to Mass? Since 1952, the Archdiocese of Washington has produced a weekly televised
Mass for those who are homebound, broadcast from the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate
Conception. It is a wonderful ministry for those members of our Catholic family who are unable to be physically present with a
local worshiping community for the Sunday Eucharistic Liturgy.
The Mass airs every Sunday at 10:30am on WDCW-50:
• No cable; Dish or DIRECTV subscribers: Ch. 50;• Comcast: Ch. 23 in Washington, DC and Montgomery County; Ch. 3 in
Prince George's County and Southern Maryland • RCN: Ch 15 • Verizon: Ch. 3

the people and shrines in the Holy Land for 800 years. Please keep the Franciscan friars and parishioners in Syria in your

Marriage Preparation Program – Gaithersburg
The Sacramental Preparation for Marriage program is
designed to complement the preparation you are receiving
from the priest or deacon that will witness your marriage. It is
only one piece, albeit a very important one, of the six-month
preparation required by the Archdiocese of Washington. We
encourage you to look into taking a pre-marital assessment
tool (such as the FOCCUS or Prepare/Enrich tools) and/or to
request a mentor couple in your parish to meet with and
discuss your up-coming marriage. Because marriage is a
vocation, a call to holiness, our purpose and goal is to offer you some important information you will need regarding your
upcoming marriage in the Catholic Church. Two consecutive Saturdays, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (February 11 and 18, 2017)To
Register: Religious Formation Office at 301-977-7990 or [email protected]
Cardinal Appeal – a time for reflection This week, you are asked to review the Cardinal’s Appeal brochure and the tabloid that you will receive with your bulletin
today. The theme of the campaign is “Seek first the Kingdom of God” (Matthew 6:33)
The Cardinal’s Appeal campaign is much different than a one-time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you can
make a gift, today, payable over ten months.
A significant gift to the Cardinal’s Appeal will touch the lives of many others in a very positive way. As you review the work
enabled by your contribution, please reflect on God’s gifts to you. He has given you all that you have. Your gifts to our parish,
to the archdiocese and to the work of the Church through the world should be given in gratitude for the continuing gifts that
God gives you.
Sometimes it is difficult to envision how one pledge can help an organization the size of our archdiocese, how it can make a
real difference. But each pledge does make a difference because all parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many
enable our archdiocese to deliver needed ministries and services.
Our combined gifts not only signify our gratitude to God, they glorify Him by enabling the work of our archdiocese and give
Him thanks for all He has given us.
If you received your pledge form in the mail earlier this month, please complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass next
weekend. For those of you that did not receive a mailing or have not had time to respond to it, we will conduct our in-pew
pledge process at all Masses next weekend and the following weekend. Thank you for your prayerful and generous response.
