Horror film posters tend to be focus on dark colours such as grey or and black. Also, from the horror posters on the previous slide, the ones that include people are either close up of their faces or their eyes. The front on the writing is bold and tends to stand out the most of poster – as well as the actual imageSome posters such as ‘The Apparition’ have quotes included on them such as ‘Once you believe you die’. This is most likely to appear in the trailer and makes it more catchy.

Comedy Posters

Comedy posters usually include more than one protagonist, sometimes some include several if it is a family movie. In contrast, the colours differ from the ones in the horror posters as they are much more brighter and vibrant colour, these stand out more. The background of these posters are sometimes of a setting, or a scene from the actual movie and the characters tend to be smiling or have a funny facial expression.

Comedy Horror posters borrow some of the features from horror and comedy posters. While they usually have a dark feel to them, like the horror posters. The characters tend to have fun/confused/comical facial expression, like comedy posters. Some comedy horror posters include the main protagonist, however, most usually have a group of people. The font in comedy horror posters vary. While some are big and bold fonts, others have a blood type of affect on them. Most of the font colours are either white to stand out, or red which a regular convention of this genre.

By looking at several film posters from the horror, comedy and comedy horror genres, I have found some inspiration. For our film poster, I like the idea of there being the two main protagonist in the poster and I also like the use of facial expression in the posters (Comedy poster inspiration). While I like the use of dark colours, bold writing and close ups (Horror poster inspiration)
